    Just a heads up. Make sure you add the Sync Module first, then add the video doorbell, then the Blink mini. Be sure to connect to the same 2.4 Ghz WiFi network and be sure to update the firmware on the Blink Mini if you do not see the Chime option in the settings.

      @@gloriasilence Hi Gloriasilience, when you connect to your WiFi network, it will let your phone connect by 2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz, so all modems or routers will definitely have the ability to let you connect with either 2.4 or 5.0 Ghz. The problem is that on most phones, you won't be able to tell which band you're connected to. For my WiFi setup at home, I split my WiFi to display the 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz bands separately, so I know what I am connecting to. If you contact your internet company and tell them that you want to have your WiFi display both a 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz band, they can help walk you through how to do that on your modem that they supplied.

      @@gloriasilence Hey Gloria, good luck. To make your request easier, you can say "I need to split my WiFi into two separate SSIDs, one SSID should have the number 5 at the end of it so I know that it is the 5 GHz band." You can try to delete all the cameras from the Blink app then, add the sync module 2 first, then add the video doorbell, then add the Blink mini last. That's how I did it. You can also try to contact Blink support to see what they recommend if you don't want to delete all the cameras and add them back, but I think they may make the same recommendation too.

      I disconnected mine because I switched to a different doorbell, but I'm pretty sure the Blink Mini would still continue recording. Honestly, the Blink Mini acting as a chime is just an afterthought on Blink's part. Is there a delay from the time the Blink doorbell is pressed to the Blink Mini chime? There's about a 6 second delay on my iphone. I read the Ohmkat wireless chime has no delay. Is this another viable solution?

    • @DemCrumblies
      @DemCrumblies  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a slight delay, but I remember it only being around 2 to 3 seconds max. If it's taking that long, perhaps the devices are not close enough to the modem or router? Also, I remember if the ringer is pressed, then pressed again fairly soon, it may not register the 2nd press. I actually haven't heard of the Ohmkat wireless chime, but I checked it quickly and it requires too much wiring for me. If you're not fully committed to Blink, I highly recommend buying another video doorbell that either comes with a plug in chime unit in the box or can also be hard wired to your home's existing chime wiring for a more elegant solution. I can recommend some to you, but if you want to stay on the Blink platform, then you'll likely have to stick with Blink's workaround using a Blink Mini or Blink Mini 2.

      It definitely isn't the loudest that I've heard since they just use this camera to act as a chime after the fact instead of designing it to have really loud speakers in mind for chime functionality. You'd have to order it and see how it goes, then return it if it isn't loud enough.

      @@AST.Security.Garage Kinda. If you pay monthly, you will be able to record video when someone rings the doorbell and you answer, or when the camera detects movement. However, you won't be able to pull up live view to take a look whenever you like on the Cloud Plan. If you want to pull up live view at will, you need the Sync Module 2. However, with the Sync Module 2 only, it will record movement, but will not record video if someone rings the bell and you answer it in the app and have a two way conversation. Btw, you can check this video where I go into it in more detail if my answer above is not clear enough: th-cam.com/video/akSBK5Girts/w-d-xo.html
      TLDR, having both the sync module 2 and the cloud plan is ideal to full functionality (and for Amazon/Blink to take as much money from you). • @DemCrumblies

      Usually you have to log into it and set it to split the WiFi SSID into 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz. Every modem or router is different, so the way to do this is different. You may have to log into the modem or router through a computer or phone app.

      Good question. I just tried it, and it just rings once, then there is a cool down time until the chime rings again. Seems like around 20 seconds before the chime will sound off again. Also, if I just try and ring the doorbell repeatedly, the chime only rings once.

      @DemCrumblies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey T. Sutro, yep, if you have the Sync Module, they have to be on the same Sync Module and WiFi network (2.4 Ghz). Do you have the Sync Module or Sync Module 2 (second generation of it)?

    • @TSutro

      Thank you for the quick response. After not seeing the Mini Camera on the Sync Module I was using for the doorbell, it told me they needed to be on the same Sync Module. Some of the outside cameras are used as trail cams as we get deer and other animals wandering around the property. Thank you.

      @@TSutroHi T. Sutro, sometimes too you have to delete all your cameras, add the Sync Module 2 first, then add the cameras afterwards. This is what Blink recommends on their support forums. Yes, I also hope they introduct some PTZ cameras in the future. My Alexa enabled Sonos chimes with Blink. BUT the Blink Doorbell, and this should be well known---does not chime multiple times in the house no matter whether you use the Blink Mini or Alexa--so if you're not near the speaker that has the chime, yo uwon't hear it, even if the person rings mmultiple times. The blink doorbell has this insane delay / misfire where it won't fire off the doorbell repeatedly for at least 90 seconds or longer.

    I can't believe they don't have an option for a wireless chime. I can get a cheap doorbell that works with a chime where you can simply plug it in a socket.
    I've had the blink for about a year, and it bugs me that it requires an internet connection to hear a chime on an echo. Wasted so much money buying echos all over the house. Whilst it works fine 99% of the time, the one time like when I missed my delivery, makes me want to ditch it.
