    Looks to me like it is doing exactly what a $50 doorbell camera is supposed to do. I have the exact same one and it’s awesome. Hell I’m not needing it to count the hairs on their head or up their nose

      I tend to agree. It works fine and as for the module, as far as I know, that's the brains of the system. I guess if you just have the doorbell camera then it can be an issue if you were expecting more. I have 4 cameras in total and they all work fine with easy control for some spots like the back yard if I'm going to be going in and out I can disable them till I'm done. I don't like the delay when I ask to see a live view, but I don't know what the other systems are like so I can't compare. For me, it serves me well. Not perfect, but good enough. As for the picture quality, daytime is fine. Night time so if you are looking for good detail. I did get a pretty good picture of a bear walking through our yard. If it was a person, I'm not so sure I would be able to identify him/her with a face shot. For the price, it's what I kind of expected. I did go through the first two batteries for the front door in no time as it took me some time to understand what was going on and how to use the app. I now have rechargeable lithium batteries in there and so far so good. I did turn off the picture-taking throughout the day and night. Not necessary and it will use up battery life.

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    I just installed my blink with the sync module yesterday. Everything is working up to and beyond my expectations! For the money, and not wanting your videos on the cloud, this works great. I have the blink 256g mounting bracket on the way. My experience is based on only the blink doorbell, I will be getting another one for the other side of my house today. Do your due diligence, and know what to expect, and you won't be disappointed.

    Would be curious to see your settings, did you have it up to the highest video capture? Hard wire is only for chime, not for power. I feel this review is a little premature, imo. The sync module is a must in my book and you can’t get both for $50 still.

    Interesting video! I know people that have Blink outdoor battery cameras and some HATE while others LOVE them. $50 for this doorbell seems OK but TOO many limitations for the battery only setup. I have a Ring doorbell 3+ and have it running only on battery as well with an added solar panel to keep it charged but, one BIG issue I was having was choppy/freezing video and horrible audio quality. The reason for this is I have a brick exterior and a wet-plaster interior and my router is 20feet away. I just happen to have an electrical outlet inside VERY close to the doorbell's location outside and decided to "try" a Ring Chime Pro which "basically" is a repeater for your Wifi to extend your signal (only for Ring products) and BAM! This improved my camera performance 100%. The reason I mention this is why you may be having such bad performance with Blink because it's possible your WiFi router is on the "fringe" degrading the cameras performance?? Did you "try" moving your router closer or if using a Mesh WiFi moving a NODE closer? Would this help? My girlfriend has a Blink indoor camera and she HATES it because you cannot "live" view and has NO SD card option forcing you to do the CLOUD plans of $3 a month or $30 a year (I'm not sure about the $35 add-on hub you mentioned). So, she does NOT use it anymore!
    Many people "dump" all over any camera this is only 1080P and say "they" only use 2K or more resolution cameras. Well at 1080P you can still "recognize" someone and I do NOT need to be able to count hairs in someone's beard or see if they are wearing false eyelashes or "see" if someone has enlarged pours! I use cameras to "see" what's going on outside my home when NOT there and get notifications if someone is "lurking" around. Plus, 1080P cameras are MUCH cheaper and LOTS of brands out there!

    I have the ring doorbell and don’t like that I miss motion alert at times and that’s after I enhance my settings. My son has blink with the sync module. He bought on sale as a package deal on Amazon for $56 so he didn’t pay extra for the module as you mentioned. He loves it and I didn’t see a huge difference in the camera quality from my Ring. I’m thinking about switching to Blink due to the fact Ring just increased their annual subscription to $50 just to save videos etc. Blink’s sync module does this and there’s no subscription with it. Also the battery life is awful with Ring. It’s chargeable but doesn’t last long. And you have to change certain settings just to save battery life. Blink uses AA batteries but they last longer than Ring’s chargeable battery.

    "I could only speak to someone outside if a notification popped up and I noticed in time" 😂 what a special complaint 😂
    The notification kicks off a 60 second timer. If you try accessing the two way audio after a minute of waiting, you are likely to find your doorbell ringer has long since departed the property.
    Its a video doorbell, not a time machine.

    First off, I do appreciate that review so thanks for that. This is one of the things that makes TH-cam as good as it is. It really helps with things not mentioned in the ads and when you go to buy it and the quality of the item purchased. These sorts of things always need some research and reviewing. Before you buy anything you should do a little research. This might alleviate the disappointment once you receive it. I saw this advertised I think on Facebook and started looking for more info on it. I did find that, yes you should get the module for it. So that wasn't a surprise. Putting the modem a bit closer if possible is a good idea and get an extender. Having to get up off your butt to set it up is not an abnormal requirement. This complaint makes me think that you are working from home. I've spent many times with other things that require me to go to other places around my house to set them up. That's how it is. Not really sure why there's any complaint there. I have a friend that has one and he really likes it. I will be talking to him shortly about them to see what he has to say about its use.

    It appears someone didn’t do her homework. Don’t pay attention to her rambling put down. Check out other reviews. The fact that see got the wrong facts about wired and battery’s tells the story. The old doorbell wiring doesn’t power the camera. It needs batteries.

  • @MaNameizJeff
    @MaNameizJeff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yes so, you took the cheap route and didn't like what you got. The doorbell needs the sync module. You can buy a box that has both or if you have an existing setup you can just buy a doorbell. The sync module is key for local video storage and separates blinks free plan from everyone else's lack of. It will work without it, but it is not ideal. Probably my only disappointment with the blink is it has good landscape coverage but is pretty poor at seeing more of the ground to monitor packages.

  • @mwinchester66
    @mwinchester66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    It is a $36 camera FFS!! (That's what it cost me anyway). You want rocketship technology for a few bucks. Don't be ridiculous! And btw, all the videos you showed from the camera are pretty decent, even at night.
    If you're on a budget (or almost broke) and need cheap and reliable security in your house. This will work for you until eventually you can purchase something better.
    The only thing this video was ok for was to warn people about the limited features when it comes to using batteries, which makes sense because constantly using live video on batteries would probably drain them pretty quick, which would be yet another thing you would complain about.

    I have three blink outdoor cams and two mini cameras. the quality of the footage is sub par. unfortunately I have to keep my cameras inside so the footage is behind glass. during the day the glass doesn't impead the already low quality too bad. at night behind the glass is horrible. you get every glare off of literally EVERYTHING. Some night it looks like it's snowing purple debris. some night(no lie) its things that aren't there. like people, cars, lights. the the biggest grief I have is the live video ONLY plays over the speaker phone speakers on your phone. it's not at all discreet. if I wanna check my cameras at work or wherever I have to always be aware of the volume. idk that's the breaking point for me. I'll throw out all 5 for one good doorbell cam but I would like 180 degress if possible. IDT my place will let me mount one. but fuck it

      Most battery doorbells only need two little holes in the wall to mount the backplate. So it's not super invasive, but that might depend on who you're renting from too. Have you thought about trying an outdoor camera to look outside? There are also some out there designed to be indoor cameras for outdoor surveillance
