Thank you for being such a refreshing face on TH-cam, Amy! I graduated from UC Davis in 2012, and I've been watching youtube "gurus" since I was 19, so it's really nice to hear someone on TH-cam who understands and grapples with what's "normal" and in a way, "valued," in terms of career. You're extremely real. I truly admire you for being an educated womyn and not being afraid to share your experience(s) with us :)

College students in Puerto Rico (specifically from public colleges) sometimes use pajama pants and sandals. These students don't look at you nor give a crap about how you dress up or who you are. Most of them wear tank tops and shorts. When you dress up really fancy, they notice that you're a freshman because the ones that have been +2 years in college dress up like hobos or hippies (or at least thats how people describe them) because they know how uncomfortable it is to wear a lot of things and wear uncomfortable shoes to walk around big uni's

I started college a few years ago but took a break and now I'm going to be living in the dorms... As someone with a wardrobe of nothing but Victorian Goth and steampunk shirts and skirts, Classic Lolita fashion clothing, Victorian boots, a single pair of jeans and Applebottom sneakers, I can say it surprisingly isn't bad at all to wear these things to college and still be comfortable. Of course I have pj pants, and sleeping tshirts, but I never wore just a tshirt and sweats to a class. If you have a specific style outside the "norm" like myself, don't be afraid to wear it while attending college. You might not want to consistently be perfectly polished every day, but you don't have to sacrifice your fashion. Idk I just know I'm not the only one who just gets better grades and generally feels better when I'm wearing the clothes that make me feel like me.
Sweatpants for the win! That's pretty much what we'll be wearing to uni during winter
I have the same vagabond shoes and I loove them! you can literally wear them to every outfit and look so much better, especially when you are a small person they are perfect for an everyday shoe, which makes you look taller :)

My college essential is definitely my docs! I bought mines summer before freshman, I'm now a junior best investment EVVERRR! I wear them basically everyday! the best part is they keep getting comfier!
I'm about to graduate Uni but this video was still helpful nonetheless. I love how relatable you and just the "everyday girl". I like watching other fashion TH-camrs, don't get me wrong, but their style is not always practical and accessible like yours Amy!

liked the video but i think college/ uni culture here in the uk (well, london at least) seems to be really different, like people usually dress up for school in jackets, skirts, leather shoes/ boots, things like that. i rarely see people in graphic t's or joggers.

The people who knew me from high school have noticed that I'm "slacking" in getting dolled up in school now (because I'm not posting as many outfit pics on IG), and it's not because I let myself go but college is more about practicality. Yes, cute strappy sandals, a full face of makeup, and a purse are all cute, but to walk around a campus as huge as ASU in hot weather with my notebooks, a laptop, a water bottle, and food? Nah. I'll stick to comfy clothes, roomy and comfy backpack, and my trusty white converse :) (unless i only have one or two short classes on that day. Then I'll wear something not as comfortable haha)
