    Weekly top 5, I really enjoy your reactions to Whitney, as I am addicted to her God given talent and instrument ( her unmatched vocals).
    The guy playimg the saxophone is Kirk Waylam. I hope I spelt his name correctly. Anyhow, he is fsntastic and Whitney have a lot of confidence in him.

    "The Bodyguard" was originally supposed to be a 1970s inter-racial love story & was meant to star Diana Ross.
    It was Kevin Costner who wanted Whitney to play Rachel. Though it is only 30 years old as of today (released in late 1992), believe it or not people in the US were not ready for an inter-racial love story.
    That's the plot line, Costner ("Frank Farmer") is hired to protect her (ala secret service) and has never protected a "movie star." He is used to doing things in a certain, routine way (being in the US Navy myself at the time - I was 21 years old when this came out & Whitney being my all-time favorite singer ever - I understood his way of thinking/doing his job).
    They have to fight their growing attraction to one another & after they finally sleep together, he realizes he has stepped over a line and needs to draw back & Rachel can't understand why, so even though Farmer still protects her, she does everything to make him suffer, up to the point we Farmer realizes who the hit man is at the Oscars & rushes the stage to protect her.
    They realize that since the main threat is over, Farmer needs to leave and they need to break up, so enter "I Will Always Love You" which is the ultimate break up song to someone that no matter what you will always love them.

    I watched the bodyguard in the movie theater and you are totally right....the emotion in the scenes didnt make sense. I got confused many times and I was trying to follow closely. It was successful for different reasons....and really the soundtrack just pulled the movie into everything.

      How old were you when you watched The Bodyguard? I mean the movie was simple…an actress is targeted for assassination, she thinks it’s not a big deal, her manager thinks she needs to take it seriously so he hires an ex secret service agent. They bump heads and find themselves falling for each other. There’s some more things but those are the big points in the movie. Marion didn’t want to be told what to do, she didn’t like having structure….Frank was all about structure. Their chemistry was all over the place but it was always linked with subtle s3xual attraction.

      @jobuck879 I was 19 when the movie came out. It felt like the movie was edited badly and recently Kevin Costner did an interview where he talked about telling the director how to direct Whitney cause the director didn't pick her. I think that dynamic affected some of the scenes

      @jobuck879 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@pgast3 Kevinh hand picked Whitney. They didn’t want Julia Roberts. They wanted Whitney. The movie was very simple. The plot was very simple. If you didn’t understand it….well look in the mirror because it wasn’t because of the movie or the actors.

    understand the movie, the two

      Most people know this. And they also know that Dolly always praised it no matter how much the media tried to make a feud out of it.
