The World Music Awards used to be one of Monaco's top events and was partially funded by Prince Albert of Monaco so that's why he was always on the front row.
I can never say which Whitney performance is her best performance, To me that is an impossible task. Every time she belts out a note it is perfection. The guy they keep showing is the Prince of Monaco. For me her performance of I will always love you at the Grammy's was extraordinary and I also loved her performance of I have nothing at an award show that I really can't remember what show but I do remember she was wearing Red. She looked stunning and sounded amazing. No matter where you find Whitney performing it will always be breath taking and we will always love her!
The I Have Nothing performance in the red dress where Whitney looks so gorgeous and the crowd is on their feet 90 seconds before she's finished the song is from the Billboard Music Awards. (see taps her ear to ask for more sound, gestures for the conductor to pick up the pace and pauses in perfect time to remove a hair from her mouth OR spit out some gum!) 1993.
OMG! I swear to god I don’t know how Whitney didn’t just drop the mic at the end of that performance , say “who da greatest of all time?’ And just walk off stage. 😂 dannnnng! I’m still trying to come down after listening to that. ❤
Her Voice was Once in a Lifetime" 100 years 1963 2012 RIP Whitney's voice is a human treasure ****That gift will not be passed out for a very long time...especially in that magnitude
The woman that was focused on sitting next to the Prince of Monaco (guy you guys didn't know) was Whitney's mother. She is also a singer who has sung background for many legendary artists like Aretha Franklin
I remember watching this as a young teen back in the 90s and true story whitney wasn't feeling the best due to being sick this performance and nearly wasn't going to perform or didn't feel comfortable but as it was a special occasion performing in front of royalty she didn't want to let anyone down and as you can see she wasn't called the voice for nothing 💯 Even on her sick days she could still out sing anybody on their best day... RIP Whitney ❤
LOVE this reaction. YES Kenny G played the Sax solo ON the recording and Yes that Is PRINCE sitting next to her mother on the front row. That entire room and evening was simply legendary. She is always will BE the VOICE.
Okay I’ll start by saying Whitney live is ALWAYS incredible. Even when she’s in bad voice she’s still ten times better than everyone else. Her Grammy performance is definitely superior to this version (except for a slight voice crack in the beginning of her Grammy performance due to nerves from the enormous pressure put on that particular performance) she knocked it out the park. Also her 1990 Arista record’s anniversary party version of “the greatest love of all” is perfection. Her billboard awards & American music awards performances of “I have nothing” are legendary along with her entire “Welcome home heroes” televised concert!
The first audience member that they cut to - the Older Black woman - was Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston. Cissy Houston - an accomplished vocalist, herself. Having sung backup for artists like Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, Roy Hamilton and Chaka Khan... to name a few. ;)
Another great choice although there are many better live versions of this from her tours. But this one is still great and I agree with Ryan that it’s better than the Grammys version. Hahaha, ‘Doug’ is the Prince of Monaco who hosts the World Music Awards. It’s amazing how Whitney can take such a hard song and make it look effortless even though you know you absolutely could not sing it! Thanks again! Bring on the next
LMAO "We're gonna get roasted!" 🤣 -- I mean, he was sitting next to Whitney's mom and PRINCE...So, Doug was definitely important... 😂 Dolly Parton wrote "I Will Always Love You" btw. It's a Whitney cover 🫨
Her best to me is on the show with pavoratti the same night she sang opera but her 2nd is the South African HBO concert her visual makes it's even better, but there is also her radio city music hall first night of the bodyguard tour where vocally was at her peak! Just had the baby and had not did that 18 leg tour yet it was the first night. This is def top 10 tho! She has so many excellent live versions you could do a show on her top version and see who this which one is best.
The Rain Forest Concert with Pavarotti is a very special performance from Whitney. She has never sung IWALY better or more beautifully. Her voice is rested and flawless. But is there anything close to a clean copy of that performance?
@@TombCat I've looked for one at many different points in time. I think I remember finding at some point on one of those expeditions that there was a chance the foundation recorded the concerts if I'm not mistaken, but this was so long ago I'm honestly not sure. The version in Brasil is my favorite, the audience goes crazy there….it’s at the end of the show and she looks a bit more messy….but the passion and interaction with the crowd is magnetic

I’ve seen your videos reacting to Shakira and I think you haven’t reacted to Mon Laferte. You should check out one of her famous live performances of “tu falta de querer”.
Nippy never really managed to fully nail a live performance of IWALY. Even here there were slight issues. Same thing at the Grammys and of course later on, post-prime. Perhaps its massive success created pressures and expectations to perform the live vocal perfectly which is precisely what Mariah had to deal with despite crafting a much more vocally demanding catalogue. Everyone always expects the divas to nail the belt, hit the high note, and navigate transitions with ease, but it's always harder when you get older.
The best? Absolutely not. Radio City ‘93, Rainforest Benefit ‘94, and, yes, Grammys ‘94 were all better than this. Argentina ‘94 can be argued against this one, too. That really just speaks to Whitney’s greatness.
I can’t recall what the best one is, but I feel the mix was off on this one. Her voice was too prominent compared to the music in the mix. But also sounds like she may have been under the weather here. Annnnddd I just listened to the Grammys version and I personally think it’s better than this one. She did have a small cracked note, but she’s human.
I think that was her worst performance of that song cause it sounded like she was losing her voice a little. But despite it all, she still sounded amazing. No one can out sing Whitney, even on her worst day. She's truly the voice

Tell me you are an Americans without telling me you are an American. It is Prince Albert of Monaco, for god’s sake. And yes, it was Prince. The thing is, I can't stand this song any more. On the first note, (and I ....) she was a bit out of tune, but she did well after that.
