In this video we install a Curb by CurbsPlus. This curb will hold the roof mounted HVAC unit. We try our best to seal it to the roof with all measures necessary. This video is to show how we install it. I hope I am able to help those that need guidance in this procedure and you pros are welcome to leave a comment and let me know how I should have done it.

You don’t cut a curb in at the top, as the roof expands and contracts this will tear and cause leaks, proper installation is either over/over or under/under. 2.5” mastic gasket is the only way to water proof a commercial roof curb. Silicone will oxidized galvalume roof panels and void manufacture warranty. Roof curbs should be installed as roof is installed under/under for best results. Over/ over is for retrofit applications. 20 years experience certified PEMB roof installer.

when you mark where to cut the deck .. we have a 8" roof because the foam insulation in between do i use a long metal bit to mark from underneat ? I really dont want to make mistakes

@1:02 why is there a man dancing around the open hole with a red hankerchief with no harness on him? he is going to trip and fall into the hole. If I saw this on one of my jobs, the job would stop until this is followed and understood. For the installation detail, I would have removed the standing seam roof panels, installed the curb, then put the roof back on. One summer with this roof heating up and cooling down, expanding and contracting, and it will leak at every seam here. (architect since 2004)

You should’ve went further up roof to where screws are in beam. Take screws out , push curb up instead of fighting it🤙🏽… put back those screws 🙃 P.S. curb should go on top of both highs on each side
ps those screws are not in a beam they are holding a pan on the bottom panel and if you take them out said pan falls out

What is the sealing tape you used?
It is a Butyl tape. Very good stuff.

Where do you find the caps for a r panel I'm installing curves now and cannot seem to find any
Fabricator of the curb supplies the caps as to which roof panel is used.

Were Grinders not invented when this was produced? Secondly epic fail unless the curb is getting an adapter because i didnt see any sort of leveling
Many steel roofing panel manufacturers will void the warranties on their products if grinders are used. The heat generated can ruin the protective finish (even if 'only' galvalume') and result in premature corrosion problems. Hands snips and electric nibblers are used.
@@paulmaxwell8851 I must've missed the manufacturer rep in the video? Did you know most want a Vapor Barrier as underlayment too? Also there's a touch up paint for scratches/ grinder burns?

i wanted to see how you guys marked the rtu hole from underneath ... but you skipped it all .. im doing a roof with q deck and gravel on top and its 8" cause the foam in between ... i would just use a long bit from underneath and drill though kinda thing?
We had the hole framed and when we installed the roof we marked location of the hole at that time.
