Wowzer! What a beautiful job! Not a whiff of caulk too! This should last at least 50 years.

im a metal roofer by trade, i do all sorts of stuff really, building and such as well, we have a pan former so we get tons of metal roofs, been doing it since i was 17 , i turn 40 this summer smh.. great job bro, there are many ways to do this properly and im always searching for different styles because people can be pretty picky on stuff like this but the purpose always defeats the aesthetics in my opinion. there seems ( no pun intended) to be less and less videos on how to do this correctly online now adays but this is for sure one of them for anyone looking to attempt this sort of thing. keep up the good work my friend.

Hey!! Awesome craftsmanship. Cedar breather as per your reply on previous comment... really nice product. I used that to avoid shiplap lines from transfer through 12” (smooth, no ribs) 24ga standing seam panels (snow loads). I went with a “weathered zinc” colour from Cascadia Metals. I absolutely love it.

European style sheet metal is way more realistic. Everything nowadays is relying on caulking. However, some of the details seem over kill.
The double clip above the back pan seems like a lot. I know you mentioned capillary action.
But if you put a bigger hook on your first back pan to clip I’d bet my money water won’t get up and in on that return.
3/8’s gap they say stops capillary action.
Perhaps you could incorporate a kick at the start of your panel.
    Nice tools! Nice work👍
    Stubai all the way

Have you ever tried this technique on an A-Frame cabin at 65 degree slope?

    Good job
Creo que es así como se trabaja en el norte
Aquí en Florida lo hacemos diferente con L flashing y z bars

Is this possible with anything thicker than 26 gauge? It seems that a lot of the beating and bending would be quite difficult

Why does the panels lay on top of flashing?seems water would go right up under

Why didn't you just double the seam in back?

Is there no need for a cricket above the skylight to deflect water?

    • @ryanasprey3259
      @ryanasprey3259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thats what the head flashing pan at the top of the skylight is for. Also, I don't think the skylight itself would fit if there was a saddle

Craig, well done! I have been looking for metal installation videos that actually display some craftsmanship for years. Ones in English anyway.
Only two minor complaints that are not meant to take away from your obvious knowledge.
    1. Don't believe Feltbuster or Grip Rite are suitable under metal roofing.
    2. We always remove cap nails prior to metal install as we work along to prevent dimples from the underside.

Nathan Cowan glad to see your enjoying the videos and I appreciate the compliment.
The felting was done by the builder, I do prefer a heavier grade like Titanium or equivalent to minimize cap nails and much easier to install in windy conditions.
If your looking to avoid dimples in your panels from felt fasteners try cedar breather under your panels also makes for a great system in general.

Ошибка!!! Перед тем, как поставить планку, надо нанести герметик, чтобы не было капиллярного подсоса. На на отворот самой планки, нужна наклеить псул.

Translation above is discussing the Buytl caulk not shown on rear panel connection during the connection of the cleat system you have shown as assembly was being performed. The other challenge is learning the Crescent Eave sweep on the rear panels behind the skylight. this will be tighter and less capillary action through the standard 45 end-folds performed in the U.S.
Stortz has a crescent fold video and above Noted (Fold Master) does and SpenglerTV.., MetalManiak. All of these guys R top notch and I cannot stress enough study, practice with paper models (Roof-Origami) Purchase this BOOK!
If you have trouble getting this I will get with Stortz & Sons to see if they can add it to their education books on roofing. Foreign langue but pictures & illustrates worth it! use google translator. Later, Troy

That looks like a pain. I bet after doing it several times it becomes less complicated though. Tennis elbow is probably in your future. Are those all homemade tools?

you can buy the tools from sheet metal websites like John storz and sons. There's a tool for everything if you look hard enough.
