After owning a GMT and OP for almost 10 years I wanted to get myself a Hulk for my 60th birthday, about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end clones and decided to give it a try. Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc), I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake, Even the inside movement is identical. The build quality and finish put a lot of legitimate Swiss brands to shame.

Scalper is as scalper does. How ironic that this channel drives us in the direction of scalpers? Who are the crooks now: the purveyors of unabashedly outright fakes or scalpers trying to take the mickey out of you? Nobody gets to buy any watches from ADs because scalpers are the ADs' "preferred customers" and get them first leaving nothing for others. It is a collusion to create artificial scarcity through hoarding. Rolex Geneva are to be blamed for this because they allow the same few preferred customers aka scalpers to buy the watches again and again ad infinitum.

I wore a rolex daytona replica a few years ago. And it caused a few people around me to be impressed looking at my watch from afar. But I'm always honest, when someone came to me and told me that I have a really nice watch. I just told them that it's actually fake and I got it for $30. I'm not trying to impress anyone, or making people think I'm posh or into luxury items by fooling them with a fake Rolex. I just like how the watch looks. It was an automatic movement and lasted 8 years on my wrist. I only stopped wearing it when I accidentally dropped it and the entire movement was broken. So I end up switching to a genuine Longines Conquest Classic which looks similar to the Daytona.

My uncle, on a trip to Mexico, was stopped by a street vendor selling Rolex watches. The watches were for sale at 9 dollars (USA). Superficially the watches were made to resemble Rolex watches in appearance with the heft of case and band. Amused, knowing that these watches had to be fake, my uncle bought one of them. When he took the watch home, he laughed at his purchase for even the name Rolex was misspelled 'Rolix' on the watch face. Nevertheless he often wore that watch, being careful not to get it wet; and amazingly its cardboard works kept fairly good time. He still breaks out that watch time to time to tease or test someone.

Could you do a video on the different tiers of fake Rolex? My fake submariner (gifted to me 10 years ago and still working fine) seems to be a much better copy than the one featured in your video and I'm wondering if it's worth anything. One thing you didn't mention was the easy link adjustment on the bracelet. My fake doesn't have easy link adjustment, but for that, my bracelet seems to be really well copied and the crown logo etch at 6 o'clock on the crystal was very difficult to spot even with magnifying glass, but it's there. Thanks for the info on the line-up of the R's and X's with hour marks - mine definitely failed that test.

About the movement being smooth and buttery while being interacted through the crown-- you need to take the age of the watch into account. My 14-year old datejust has started showing some signs of aging (it still is a great watch, don't get me wrong), and it is not as smooth as my other, newer watches. 3135 is known for small jumps of minute hands while setting which makes it difficult sometimes to accurately set the time.

And herein lies the problem of identifying fake watches (not just Rolexes). Unless you are 3 inches away, have a good quality loupe, and the genuine watch right next to you, it is almost impossible to identify a fake from 3-6 feet away when worn on the wrist. Especially when the wrist is in motion. AB could be wearing a fake on his wrist during this recording and there is no way to tell (However, I don't believe he is).

I do garage sales and in the last couple years I've found 5 fake Rolex watches. The only reason the people sold them was they stopped working. I paid from $1 to $3 each as I recall. There seem to be tons of them out there. Most buyers are "middle class" people who really couldn't care less about having a genuine Rolex. Some even joke about their "Chinese Rolex." After studying the situation I no longer think most fake Rolex buyers are trying to fool anyone. I think it's more about laughing at people who waste so much money on a vanity item. They're mocking the wealthy or those who are pretending to be rich.

All these Swiss watchmakers would have gone out of business thanks to quartz if they hadn't reinvented themselves as "luxury toy factories" for bimbo proles. The reason why you are paying these ridiculous prices is artificial shortage. 2500-3000 would be a realistic price for such a watch. Why? This video makes an excellent tutorial for anyone contemplating watch work. Of course less complicated items are more straightforward. The tiny lever springs are capable of flying off into the distance without careful handling.
The person handling the watch was obviously very experienced, however, I would suggest anyone starting out places springs , cocks and screws into their individual groups, time consuming but avoids puzzles later.
