You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother these days =)
Even tho it's hard to tell how steep the trails are, (in any video) your videos are great because nothing is left out. Excellent guide for anyone wanting to experience these trails and have an idea of what's around the next bend. 👍👍
I really appreciate this video. That was one of the prettiest roads I've taken. We had a big pickup truck, but it was a 4 wheel drive - took manuevering to get around corners, but it was fine. What amazing views - videos can't even approach reality, unfortunately. When you're up there, with the depth of the drops, the dramatic panoramas, the crisp air, the silence, it's just amazing. EVeryone should do a pass like this once. People watching should know that you can hire someone in Silverton or Telluride to take you over this one - do that if you aren't experienced at this type of driving.
Thanks for putting this up! I drove this road back in 2002, and while I loved it, the other people in the car chose to walk in the scary areas. I have dealt with the ‘after shock’ of their terror ever since. Moral is: don’t take wussies on a fun drive.
Well I'm glad you enjoy this but technically this is the one of the easiest passes in the area if you have any chance to do it again. Thanks for watching
Nice video. I drove over this 40+ years ago in a big Bronco with no trouble and no traffic. I see it has gotten more popular, but you rarely encountered a vehicle going the other way, which is good. What was the attraction at 38:38 close to Ophir with so many people stopping? Thank you.
This is a great pass to take from Hwy. 550 just north of Silverton over to Telluride (or the other way). A full day of 4 wheeling if you want to take Imogene pass to return to 550, and very much well worth the time. If you're staying in Ouray or Durango, or Silverton, this route is an awesome loop. But you will need a decent 4 wheel drive to clear Imogene. I very highly recommend this loop. Black Bear is another option but you really need experience in 4 wheeling for that route.
Did this pass in my 2018 stock Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. It was a cool pass. Have aftermarket skid plates and they cane in handy on the rough stuff just after the pinnacle before the switchback, but otherwise it was an easy and gorgeous trail.
I took this road in my 4X2 Xterra. There was a couple of places I had to back up and get a running start when my rear tires were just slipping on the gravel on some of the steeper hills. I went the opposite way on this road as is shown in the video. I was surprised to find this road rated blue in my guide book! I also did Tin Cup Pass in the Xterra, which is also rated blue in the guide book. That road was a bit rougher and I also had to get a running start a couple of places. I've been on both of these roads in my 4X4 Tacoma so I knew what to expect.
Davey Bernard, what I was told (and later understood after driving this route) is that the route is coded blue (medium difficulty) only because of the short section midway (at the pass) which requires very slow passage over baby-head, irregular shaped rocks. The other factor of note for difficulty is the narrow track nearby with severe drop-offs to one side. You are correct to pose the question, though. The rest of the route on its own could be coded green. This is a great route. A novice at the time (and still am), I vividly remember the physical and mental stress of that narrow rocky stretch. As to your question, could a 4x2 handle this? I'm thinking, probably yes, though really I'm not experienced enough to say with any certainty.

And here I called your Jeep a Toyota. Sorry. Good ride, a little shelfy, but had some spots to pull over. You are sure giving it a good workout. Also watched your Hells Revenge for awhile and although the Utah rocks have their own beauty, I prefer Mts. Again, thanks for the ride. Are you using a Go Pro camera? Are you using a polarizing filter? I haven't noticed much windshield glare.
I watched most of this on bad resolution :) and am wondering: is this really a 4x4 route? Based on what little I could make out, it looks like a small stock 2WD Toyota pickup could go up this. Is that right?
Lakelover597 it’s single lane but you can squeeze through when other vehicles are coming .Drove through there middle of July 2019 . Very beautiful scenic views! If your afraid of heights this isn’t for anyone! Stair climbing to higher elevation and steep drop offs! Will drive through again slowly 😊
I highly NOT recommend it. It’s sorta like riding a motorcycle at 110 mph. Can you do it? Sure. But if something happens, you’ll be in a world of hurt. I was amazed to look down the slope and see all the vehicles that rolled over (and over, and over forever) and never got retrieved from Ophir Pass. I’d far rather unhook my trailer, drive back and forth, rehook my trailer up and go enjoy a relaxing dinner and beer instead of perhaps looking for a different pair of pants and underwear to put on.
Colorado one of our favorite states! The great Creator had a joyous time creating all the beautiful landscapes !
I am glad that you enjoy the video thanks for watching
Thanks for this video. I'm doing it for the first time in a few months so its nice to see the terrain ahead of time!

Thanks for watching, my understanding it was afoot race and this was a crossing spot for watching the runners.

Black bear pass isn't something to be trifled with. I wouldn't go without at least a buddy truck, preferably two or three. That has some gnarly spots.
I have done it with the Rubicon with out buddy system, the trail so busy you always have someone on the trail ready to help, and Thanks For Watching
Went over Ophir in August, 1999. Miss the place. Also recommend Engineer (Lake City to Silverton) and Cinnamon (same end points).

Doable in a stock Subaru Forester??
Yes
Hi. Did u do it with ur forester? I might try with my ascent if u did with forester.
One of the easier passes in my opinion, but I saw a guy trying it in a Dodge Neon.
has to be the most Slanted place on earth...
Thanks for watching
What was the total distance (mileage) on this trip?
Any one do a drive like this pulling a trailer?
If it was like a teardrop or like my flyer i say yes but anything else more then 14ft I say no

My compliments on the music selection. Most of these Colorado Pass videos have moronic electronic music which irritates an old fart like me.
Next time use a Gimbal for video stabilization
I already have done it and posted in the channel, thanks for watching

I had not heard of Ophir Pass. After watching a couple of these I did covered the real name is Navaho Pass. Get it right.
You may need to work on your investigation skill, i have been there many times and passed in front of the signs, but thanks for watching
Exemplary music
