What I actually did. I had HP EliteDesk 800 G5 mini. Took the power cable off, took the plastic jumper, pressed the yellow button and hold it, reconnected the power cable, turn the pc on and started to press F10, then it went into the BIOS without removing the battery or doing anything else. Great video, thanks, hope this comment help somebody else!
A key thing to note, you must press and hold the secret button in the middle front, for several minutes. I observed that the power led and fan turned on and off at least 3 times, with no video. They video turned on long enough that it said RTC and settings were reset . Then one more time, turned off and on, of it's own accord, and was able to see bios unlocked, and released the button then. When I released it sooner (after only 2 reboots) it had reset the time (RTC) but not the password. Tested this pattern and honed in the technique with 3 different HP EliteBook 800 G5's
I need to know how to reset the password on an 800 G6. the yellow button is by the ram and the pswd jumper by the cpu, however, there is just a place for one but no jumper pins are there. do I short them together?
This is the answer. I pulled the jumper, booted and hit F10 . From there I was able to reset it back to factory defaults. Easy as pie on the G5. Thank you!
HI, i have a HP prodesk 600 G5 and its not turning on, when i press the POWER button the led light will turn on but when i release the power buttton it will not turn on, what would be the problem? i try to open it the cpu fan is not working even i hold the power button for atleast 10seconds. hope you can help me :)
Any idea how to do this on a G6? There is no jumper there. There is a small push button switch, but holding that and booting reset the clock but not the BIOS password.
