Works great thank you! A little tip I found too with this system being super annoying to enter bios is to hold ESC when you power it up and keep holding. It will beep non stop but actually show the boot screen prompt and f10 option.

Will an elitedesk 800 g3 mini 65w machine be compatible with an intel i7
8700 processor? I realize that this processor is an 8th generation
introduced to the 800 g4 mini but was hoping it would be backwards
compatible to the g3 mini. Can you help please?

It didn't work, I have the same system HP Prodesk 600 G3 mini, after removing the jumper, it still shows Secure Boot, "The selected boot image didn't authenticate". Another problem I noticed is that on board battery is dead, not sure if that could also be the reason. I'm going to change out the CR2032 battery and then give it another try. Oh, and I noticed on this board a yellow button labeled 'CMOS'. I tried pushing that too, and it seems to have only cleared the CMOS, but not the Secure Boot, and yes the jumper is removed. I think i'll still need try a new CR2032 battery.
So, I got a new CR2032 battery and installed it, then I was able enter the BIOS, under Advanced > Boot Options > Enable Legacy support and disable UEFI, then underneath check the box Remove Secure Boot, save then when the system reboots you are then prompted with a 4 digit code to switch off Secure Boot. In my case I erased the Secure Boot settings and was also prompted to enter another 4 digit code which cleared the settings. Then after that the BIOS changes would be saved due to the new CR2032 battery. Hope this helps other people who get stuck in the Secure Boot loop problem.

Is it possible to reset the BIOS password on G5 model same way?

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Marius,
Yes, the process should be similar for the G5 model. The location of the jumper on the G5’s motherboard might not be the same as in the video, sometimes is located under the hard deice or next to the ram.
      Hope it helps
      Thanks for the comment

@@MyITWorkshop actually it did not work.
I removed the jumper and did not reset the password. I left the jumper out and kept the computer for a whole night without it, and still did not help.. :(
Any other ideas what I could try?

@@MarcusXPX mmmm weird. I have done many videos with different HP/DELL desktop models on which I reset the Bios or Admin password using the same method. After you removed the jumper, (and keep it removed), you turned on the computer and still asks you for a password?
Ok, I checked the manual for your model: h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06498439.pdf
This motherboard also has a button, (first picture, item 15), that reads "Cmos reset". Try pressing that button with the computer disconnected from power, and check if that removes the Bios password. On other HP models the "Cmos reset" button only resets the date and default boot device. Maybe on your model it does more than that.

The process should be the same or similar. Ram does not matter.
