I agree. Most consumers that rely on these reviews are looking for lower-to-mid trims. Great review.
Exactly. I love that he did this one the more common trims. Going up to the elite or black now puts it easily in MDX range. A lot of people go for the ex because it has so much more than the lx, but some of the higher trims don’t justify the extra 3-6k
Finally someone who knows how to review a car that doesn’t get the elite.

You went straight to the points that were key for me when I purchased my 2020 pilot EX-L. Couldn't go Touring, first thought, "damn, have to replace the halogen lights" thinking of the 2015-2018 models.... A nice surprise seeing they come standard LED headlights couldn't be happier, and the more aggressive grill only adds to my satisfaction! Looks incredible at night
That's definitely the best feature of the new pilots. I had a 2016 and hated the halogen headlights. Now driving at night is a joy.

Like it! the honda pilot EXL has a traditional gear selector! Cool. I don't like the push button gear selector. It needs more repair when the time comes

Good review! I'm thinking about the Pilot EXL or the Highlander XLE. I currently own a Accord EXL, so if I would get the Pilot, I would stick to that trim. If I could offer some constructive criticism, when you do the drive portion, you should point the camera to the front so we could see how it rides. Besides that, great review! Very detailed, and like others have said, it's good to see a review of a trim that most people would buy. Keep up the good work!!!

i was thinking in the same SUV's and i choose the Pilot. it has more features than the highlander xle. i love my new Honda Pilot EX-L
Well done you know more about this car than Honda itself. They don't have a clue whats on witch model. Even there spec sheets contradict each other. It was a bitch finding out what was on my new pilot. Thanks again and well done.

It’s interesting to see the changes from my 2016 EX w/Sensing AWD.
1. Biggest thing for me...I regret buying a 2016 not 2017...Apple CarPlay! (Volume Knob too...)
2. BLIS and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Not available on anything but Elite prior to 2019. LaneWatch for EX-Touring.
3. Heated Seats on EX models! Thank you Honda, following many other automakers (Ford and Subaru I can think of off the top of my head) and giving us cloth seats and heat, together!
4. New Steering Wheel. While I think the new Odyssey wheel looks better aesthetically, I much prefer mine. I feel the buttons aren’t as squished together. I would like the bigger, higher functioning center gauge screen.
5. Revised Rear Styling. Doesn’t really bother me, as mine stands. I just need to put LEDS in my reverse lights.
6. Easy Entry Third Row Button. Previously on EX-L and above only.
7. Revised front styling. It’s nice, not mandatory. Just makes it look more modern.
Just thought I’d compare and contrast to my experience.

Definitely the EX-L would be what I'd want. As long as I replace the wheels + tires to something nicer.
I think so too. CarPlay and AA are good enough for me so I wouldn’t even get the Navi option

I wonder if over time if pulling those straps on the back seat will break down. And I wish the second row was captain chairs. Where are the USB ports 🤷🏾♀️ Oh well, guess you can't have it all..
The USB ports are also in the middle row & I thought I saw one in the back

Does the EX-L have the start/stop function? I'm interested in that model, but I don't want the start/stop feature.
Nope, the EX-L doesn’t. Only Touring and Elite models.
Even if you get the touring or elite with start/stop feature, you can simply turn it off if you don’t like it.

Yessir. Planning on the Ascent soon, the weather hasn’t been cooperating with me lol
I ended up with a 2020 pilot exl with res and nav black on black .purchased it 2 yrs ago .great suv zero issues last 2 yrs . picked this over the highlander.highlander lacked power,bad and old infotainment and headroom and useless 3rd row in the highlander.didnt like the pushbutton and power ebrake. And idlestop and toyota horrible seats in back .i still love my honda pilot which has way more room im 6'4 and i fit in 3rd row but highlander couldnt even get in 3rd row.the pilot stearing is way better after getting rid of the bridstone duelers and get michelin ltx .the cornering will be way better.bridgstone duelers are the worst tires ever

Elite is rediculous imo. $6000 gets you cooled front seats, heated steering wheel and some very miniscule features and 1 less seat than Touring. I honestly think $5000 of that is for the "Elite" badge in the rear, which 99% of people won't care about.

Which would you prefer between the pilot and the new suburb ascent?
I prefer the Pilot because of it’s V6 and the traditional auto. I don’t think a turbo 4 belongs in such a large car, and CVT’s aren’t my cup of tea.
Thanks much. I've had similar thoughts. My only hold up on the pilot is that I've had two odysee's (one a 4 speed and one a 5 speed transmission) and had to replace both. If I get the pilot I will need AWD and I'm wondering how much more expensive that would be, if the need arose, over replacing a FWD? On the other hand I have no idea how the cost would compare to replacing a suburb CVT if I had to. Do you have any info regarding this?
I would prefer AWD. It adds around $1500 onto the MSRP. The 6 speed auto in the LX through EX-L is a good transmission. The 9AT was problematic when it first came out, but Honda fixed most problems
