    Just picked up pilot touring, great vehicle. 9 speed auto can be a bit weird. I don’t really like auto start system, but most of the time I didn’t notice it. I traded in my 2018 crv for it and by far, the Pilot touring is very quiet, compared to my crv. I also love th IVTM4. The RES is great for my daughter, it’s not 4K but it’s great 1080p Blu-ray player. Also the v6 is pretty responsive and heat up much better than my crv. I live in Idaho and it’s great to not have to wait 10 minutes for the car to get up to the operating temp. another thing that need improvement is brake, it’s softer than crv and longer stop. This must be due to pilot being much heavier than CRV.
    Advice to those getting one, save up the money and get the Touring, also make sure to inspect outside trim for alignment. I saw couple vehicles on the lot with about 1/2” off on trim alignment. Spending $40k on car you better inspect everything!

      We made the same trade, CRV to awd touring pilot and we couldn't be happier. 30k miles for 30k and cpo. I just tossed on some 265s with zero clearance issues and it's confidence inspiring on slick snowy icy roads.

    I have a Honda pilot 2019 ex AWD. It was not even on my shopping list when I was shopping a 3 row crossover. I bought it on the day I test drived. It is fun2drive and has plenty of power. I love it. Just missing a hybrid version and waiting for that.

    After considering all the options, my wife chose the Pilot Elite over the MDX, primarily because Of the MDXs dual screen mess. Before the Pilot, her last two cars over the last 10 years were both MDXs. I preferred the MDXs console, performance, quietness, but we couldn’t get past that dual screen infotainment system. We would have waited for the refreshed MDX, but her MDX had 125K miles on it and needed some work. She liked the Atlas, but she has driven Acura or Honda vehicles for the last 30 years and liked the familiarity of Honda/Acura controls and confidence in the quality.

    Yes, Acura MDX technology has moved down to Honda... So what will the new 2020 MDX have for the transmission, engine and more??? The RDX gives some hint of this but will the MDX outshine everything for years to come??? Hard to say what they have up their sleeve... We will just have to watch the upcoming international auto shows.. My 2015 MDX Advance still provides a level of driving that you have come to expect from Acura.. If I had to get a new car, it would be the 2019 All New RDX.. Luckaly my 2015 MDX Advance only has 51,000 miles so I am in no rush to upgrade, unless the 2020 takes you to an entirely new level of driving experience.... TBD...

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Volume is on the left of the steering wheel. It is a Honda/Acura thing going back decades. Hold over from back in the days when we had to row you own gears with your right hand and needed to adjust the stereo with the left hand at the same time.

      You can disable the front collision warning (not sure if it disables the emergency braking system though), the lane departure warning and the parking radar sensors through hard buttons on the dash. Obviously the cruise control is only working with the adaptive feature.

      Old reply I know. Just shopping now. The MDX I started looking at after thinking Pilot. Then, unless it changed, the MDX cargo seats all down and tailgate opening is/seems much much smaller. And that big cargo is what I am looking for. My Outback is not doing it for me..nor the MDX. Pilot has it

    First time I’m questioning your reviews. As an owner of a 2016 Pilot I’m really wondering how much they’ve improved the tech on this car. The 2016 infotainment is god awful and the adaptive cruise is not well done. It will brake harshly and keep too much gap between cars even on the smallest setting. Then having slowed down when you then go to pass the slower car, the car will just sit at the same speed for seconds before realizing it can speed up again. It’s just too slow and laggy. You did mention the lane keeping assist as being a bit wandering. That’s appropriate. Our car has the tendency to want to follow the exit on highways and not stay in lane. There are numerous small issues with the tech implementation on our car that bugs me. Nothing major but too many small things. I’m probably going to buy a 4Runner next. I’m majorly tech shy now after this experience...

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 2016 system was horrible. That's the same system in the Type R we reviewed -- and I hated it in that car. In the new Pilot I found the adaptive cruise control to be fine. They've made a lot of strides with these systems. In spite of its tech and on-road handling I will always love the 4Runner. -Ryan

    • @rkalla
      @rkalla 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As host mentioned - the 2019 has Honda’s new Infotainment that debuted in the Accord last year. As for adaptive cruise, this is the second channel to mention the behavior is much better. The only thing it’s still missing is full start stop support - it sounds like it still disabled under a certain slow speed which bothers me to no end.

    Can anyone help me make sense of Honda:
    # Acura`s SUVs use awesome AWD
    # Pilot and Passport use awesome AWD, look good and are very usable and comfortable
    # CR-V seems to be designed by another manufacturer - average AWD performance, poor visibility, poor looks (at least to me) and more expensive than the competition. CV-5 highest trim costs the same as CX-5 Exclusive Mode on the Japanese market. Am I missing something amazing no one is talking about with the CR-V? Obviously there is no Passport/Pilot in Japan, even though massive MPV sell very well.
