  • We had a problem with the auxiliary belts on the motorhome squealing even though they were correctly adjusted and I had a pretty good idea why. Unfortunately there was also another problem…….

I had to do this same job at about 1am at Telford Services, on the very day I picked up the van. There was only one of the two drive belts fitted and it gave up during the journey. No alternator, no vacuum pump and no water pump. Things got interesting on the motorway... 😱😱😱

Sadly I think a lot of these vans are just got running after long periods of standing to sell on. The seller does the minimum to get them running. Mine also had a tiny car battery fitted 🙄

@@ttxela Mine is similar - a 75ah Halfords cheapy. I agree - it's a sad tale for some of these vans. I'm just so pleased that I'm fortunate enough to be able to invest a bit in the jobs that need doing. The van deserves it. 😁

I notice your belts for water pump are smooth yet the new ones are toothed is there any difference

I doubt there is any difference in this application, as long as they are the right size.

Someone has tightened the bleed screw too tight in the past and its sheared the end off , should look cone shaped. Similar to bleed nipples on your brake slave cylinders. If you look in the water pump you should see the shoulder the cone should seat against. Hope this is some use.

Nigel Southee Thanks, that makes perfect sense 👍
A shame it doesn't seem possible to buy just the bleed screw

Sorry, I've not had that van for over a year now, I think you can still buy the belt sets from Coastal Motorhomes though. Is yours the U25 engine?
