Chas and I fix a couple of loose squeaking belts which should be a simple job but we discover that we also need to repair a belt adjuster.
Herman's a lucky motorhome having you two looking after it .
Very lucky. He's just had a new addition this weekend too - air bags. Very lucky
Good tip to get at the alternator top bolt through the steering boot - thanks :-)
Glad it helped, @mobilvettamotorhome2056 👍👍. Thanks for watching
Love watching you and Chas working together, very educational.👍
Thanks Rick.
Once again, that’s a great help. Tightened mine up today. Success. No squeals.
That's great news, John. I'm glad the video helped you 👍👍
Well done Ads n Chas. Nice quiet Herman now. Thanks.
Thanks Allun
Ha ha ha you BEAUTY lol, soon as you started herman I knew it was just your alternator belt, cheap fix, glad Herman is all good now 👍👍👍👍

Thanks John
Cha 👍
Thank you very much for the clear and above all cheerful explanation! Greetings from Bert van Zoest from France.👍👍👍 Beauty---ful!😂
You are welcome, Bert van Zoest. Glad you found it useful. Do you have a squeaky belt? 👍🚐👍
Herman Hits the Road , yes now i can say: i had one, I did have some trouble getting to the alternator adjusting screw. in your case you could access it from the steeringrod but I have left hand and then there is no passage on the passenger side. Anyway, thank you very much and I follow your movies.👌👍
Thats great news Bert van Zoest. Glad we could help 👍👍🚙
Good Job lads. That alternator is worse to get to than the Disco 2!! Looks like that adjustment bolt has been bodged before. I would have added coppa grease thought too. Would not fancy having to do the timing belt . . .
This one is really interesting 🤔 love this sort of engineering yes that's right good old engineering 😀 👍
Are you referring to cutting a new thread, mikerphone? 👍👍👍 Thanks
Like the way you and Chaze wear different coloured gloves so we know why is who. They really didn't give you much room on the Alternator to adjust it.
That's not intentional BTW. But it's a good idea
You need to get some merch tops made with words beauty on
Hi tuka Russell, you can buy our "Beauty" merch from here

Lol
Chas 👍
I got major problems with my alternator belt on my 1993 fiat ducato 2.5td keeps snapping belts lucky to get 50 mile a belt, alternator spins freely and V belt looks good in line
Interesting, Dean. Do you think it could be too tight? Or maybe something is rubbing on it?
@@HermanHitstheRoad I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a new alternator to see if it does the trick 😉
It could be shredding the belt but it seems unlikely. Are any of the pulley wheels damaged? Are you able to watch the belt while it's running?
Hello Herman.
I'm back in Hungary working on my van. Obviously I managed to fry my alternator with one of my failed experiments.
Now I need to change the alternator. BUT It's really deep in there. Unlike yours my bolts are very tight. I lack proper tools.
So I want the shop to take it out. Outside of said shop is a man who can repair the alternator. However it might take him a few days.
Get to the point Matt... If I take off my alternator can I still drive the van for a short distance?
Thank you!
Hi Matthew, I don't think you can. You'll flattern your battery
@@HermanHitstheRoad no I mean I would just drive it just maybe a couple hundred feet. Out of their garage so I'm not taking up valuable space.
is anything that is run by the auxiliary belt critical for the health of the engine? The oil pump is not run by that is it?
I once did a cam belt and alternator on a friends 2.8 fiat auto trail. Cam belt was easy but that alternator belt what a barsteward. I’ve got a 2.0 jtd in mine the alternator belt is way easier 😂
PS you want to get those inner wheel arches rubbed down and painted before they rust through. Just doing mine this weekend. Horrible job
Well spotted sir
It's on the list 👍
BEAUTY.
Chas.
Gave me back ache getting under there.
It gives me back ache just watching it LOL 🤣
