Wow! That is the best review I have seen of this game. I feel like you really played the game were with other reviewers I felt they barely touched the game or did not bother to tell me what was good or bad. Great job, I am subscribed to your channel now/
My personal rating scale requires only 5 "REALLY"s before it bumps up from GOOD to EXCEPTIONAL. And then 5 more before it breaks the scale, so this sounds like it's a pretty darn exceptional game! This is the first time I'm seeing the game setup with the standees and it looks pretty nice, still. I may have to re-buy this in standee form and see which one I want to keep 🙂
Great review guys. I have managed to track down a Kickstarter pledge on eBay. It turned into quite an ordeal to get it to my country, South Africa. I had to use an American parcel forwarding service (the seller only shipped to the US) and then organize shipping from there to me. It is still in transit and I cannot wait for it to get here.
You guys are amazing: you always put great care on the editing, lights, graphics and the general quality of the videos. You can definitely feel the passion and effort you pour into it. Plus, you have a great synergy and the format of the review is different from usual (the "honey moon" and "alternative" sections are really helpful)! Keep it up 💪 PS: sorry for my english... Italian follower here! :D PPS: how the fuck you do that perfectly centered "cover slide"? xD
Warms our hearts to hear that people enjoy these videos! :) Thank you, Filippo! Well, to be honest, we have a lot of blooper material with the slide not exactly going so smoothly :D
We haven't tried it, no. We're currently exploring space with the new ISS Vanguarg game and it's going great so far. After that we'd might take a look at unsettled because it looks amazing.
I'm not OP, but it's kind of hard to say. I mean, if you like the theme and mechanics of dungeon crawlers, Jaws is usually, if not always, one of the best one's to learn. It eases you into the mechanics and then turns it up and eventually you will be prepared for Gloom. But that's the problem, it gears you up for Gloom, not Oath. If you don't want to drop buckets of cash on epic dungeon crawlers, go for Jaws hands down. If you love it, then move from there. I have them and if you have the time and space, you're good to go.
Thanks for the review. I was very much wanting to back the game… but upon thinking about it I would like to play Gloomhaven first, and I plan to get Jaws of the Lion even before that and see how I like these types of games. So if I missed Oathsworn I missed it. Maybe they’ll make it retail hopefully one day.
Trust me, I have lots of this kind of experience... if your patient: a.) you'll be able to get it for less b.) Won't even care about it anymore c.) Play a friend's copy for free d.) Realize there is always a new hotness - every month there are dozens of games that could potentially give you more actual joyous gameplay than this oathsworn. I'm not getting oathsworn right now either, we are in this together. I'm confident we will be just fine haha.
Hey guys! Very nice review, you definitely caught my attention about this Oathsworn. I've checked Boardgame's Geek and noticed there's a first print edition and I wonder what are the main differences in between 1st and 2nd and if it's worth it to acquire 1st instead of 2nd for a reasonable price. Cheers!
Most importantly there are some rule tweaks, updated encounter and character ability cards. I general we'd say that you won't feel big of a difference. You can check out their kickstarter page for full details on this.
The, For Who?, is interesting.. idk, hope I don't get bashed for saying this.. I'd much rather hear more about combat mechanics because I am probably looking at these for myself haha :P
No, Sleeping Gods is quite different from this one. One thing is the obvious gory theme in Oathsworn and the second is the proportions of Story vs Combat. Oathsworn is a bit of a story and the majority of it is the big fights in Sleeping Gods the quite opposite is true
I gave up on the game after chapter...5 or 6. Each combat has different elements but I, as a player, felt that I was doing the same thing over and over. The swapping of items after the battle is tedious. Not a bad game but, for me, a boring one. At least I have a very good albeit expensive choose your own adventure book.
Some of the best board gaming content available. Cheers, and thank you for the good time.
Thanks for the kind words!

Standies work fantasticly well. We even prefer standee version because of the saved space.
Wow. Really, really, really, really well-done. :) I'm excited to try Oathsworn out soon.
Thanks! You'll have a blast!
Cheers for a good review! Love your content! :)
Glad you enjoy it!
My 2nd edition copy arrives this week 🥳🥳
Once again, what an enjoyable video!
Glad you enjoyed it! We'll keep on working on them :)
@@BoardGameHangover they are perfect. I am sure you'll be getting more and more audience

Fun review that covered a lot of areas. I really enjoyed the format. Agreed on disappointment re Gloomhaven.
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@BoardGameHangover actually have not start it yet. just get my group of friends toguether this week! So lets goooo!
great content, thanks!
Our pleasure!
Great channel finding for a Saturday! Loved the review. Totally unrelated with Oathsworn but have you played unsettled? I think both would like it!
We haven't tried it, no. We're currently exploring space with the new ISS Vanguarg game and it's going great so far. After that we'd might take a look at unsettled because it looks amazing.
Great vid. Thanks so much guys. Hey, Janis G. where'd you get that awesome teeshirt. That's a must have!
Thanks so much. Actually my wife got it for me as a gift in Reserved.
Would you recommend this as a starting point for dungeon crawlers, or should players start with something smaller like Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion?
Start with Jaws, will be cheaper.

Animus looks like Resin from Everdell.
It absolutely does! :D

You should really do a Here I stand review. I really love the idea of real negotiation. But I want to see a little more.
One of us would love to do that and the other one's not that excited about the idea... You can guess who is who :D
@@BoardGameHangover what are you talking about. I am totally excited to do a review of it.

Is it out for retail? Or still gamefound and kickstarter?
I don't think it is.
The, For Who?, is interesting..
idk, hope I don't get bashed for saying this.. I'd much rather hear more about combat mechanics because I am probably looking at these for myself haha :P
how to get the app?
Can you do a review on Chutulu death may die? :)
Would Sleeping God's be also an alternative?
No, Sleeping Gods is quite different from this one. One thing is the obvious gory theme in Oathsworn and the second is the proportions of Story vs Combat. Oathsworn is a bit of a story and the majority of it is the big fights in Sleeping Gods the quite opposite is true
Question is...standee version or minis version?
We would go for the standee version unless you'd like to paint the minis or display them somewhere.
You can sun drop the minis even if you arent a great painter and it looks fabulous but its crazy expensive though.

We can see that happening yes. It really depends do you enjoy Boss battlers.
Yes, I do. I promise I will give it a second chance :) (after Aeon Trespass, Primal etc)
