Thank you. In spite of years spent in IT I've never worked with this technology, and always wondered how it worked and why I couldn't see the words when watching a teleprompter speech. I had no idea that it was a mirror, thinking that it was some type of special monitor. Appreciate the education.

I am addicted to the idea of converting my existing slides into teleprompter software and displaying them in TTL (through the lens) in a teleprompter, it helped me levelling up my video quality, espsecially talking heads. Thank you for the video.

I use PPT Mirror tool to convert my slides into teleprompter software (with bullet points) which I found as a smart idea that helps me to maintain eye contact and speak confidently on camera because I always have the whole concept in mind and I don't follow word-for-word to keep my speech natural.

Thank you for sharing this video. I am using a teleprompter for filming at a studio but I always wanted to have one home, for my projects. I looked up online to find something similar to what we have at the studio but was not satisfied with the quality, nor the price. This looks by far the closest to what I'm looking for. I will purchase the components and build my own.

For the mirror glass, what Transparency / Thickness do you recommend? Is it better to have thicker glass? Not sure what the use case is for 40R/60T or 30R/70T... I intend to shoot with a canon DSLR for the time being.
Great question! The thickness doesn't have a noticeable effect on the recording quality, the 4mm is simply heavier and stronger than the 3mm so most clients purchase the 4mm. The 30R/70T is recommended for filming through.

thinking outside the box.... using this technique to create a large heads up display at side of my windshield. Problem is a display with mirror/invert needs to be a very heavy duty thing due to vibration etcl.... got a recommendation?
The only way I know of would be to use a Chrome extension to flip your whole screen in Windows! Hope that helps!

Impressive. Useful info. Will be nice if you mention the approximate cost . It looks pretty sturdy. However I feel usability will suffer a bit as I can't directly mount it on the tripod. Maybe we can use same parts + a rode system to mount camera on the other side.
Great idea! We have tried attaching the camera in the past to a system and it made the entire unit pretty unstable. For that reason we use a separate tripod for the camera in our own studio which works really nicely and is highly customizable.

Can it be considered not "breaking the bank" when the beam-splitter glass for the recommended dimensions is over $300 before any of the other pieces? There also doesn't seem to be guidance on the recommended what level of transparency should be ordered and what these means.
The information on the rig is super useful and great, but I admit I don't know a great deal about beam-splitter glass.
Good point--it's a large teleprompter so the beamsplitter glass will be more than a smaller prompter. We recommend our standard 40/60 glass but either one will work great.

How do you attach your camera to the teleprompter behind the glass? Is there another attachment?

We use a separate tripod for the camera behind the mirror for the best stability of the entire studio setup.
So if you use your ipad as a monitor for your camera could you then use this to monitor yourself while looking into the camera? That sounds like a game changer

Great question! An 8"x10" beamsplitter is only $76.67. For a full 14"x14" with rounded corners, it's $242.67. I'm glad to help with a beamsplitter quote to match the size and budget of the client.
@@TeleprompterMastery Thanks for replying. The recommended size is at least 14" while others say 16". esp. for iPads. So an 8x10 @ $77 is already way past a "budgeted" teleprompter. So when you add up ALL the items, it is not even CLOSE to what is considered any sort of affordable. BUT.... it is very nice and I WISH I could afford one. :) Otherwise, great job on everything else. Love the vid, LOVE the teleprompter itself, just with the global financial situation, it's not even within close proximity of what we can spend. We'll figure another way to get our teleprompter so we can provide inspiration, product reviews, tips and helps. thanks.

That's a huge mirror! Most people would be fine with something much smaller which is a lot more affordable.
Why does the reflected speech appear on the mirror like it's repeated?
You can reflect your speech on the mirror. We just used a sample speech :)

That's true! While it's possible to make it cheaper, I focused on quality parts for this build. I hear all the time about people's teleprompter glass breaking when the clip fails or stand tips over!

The reason we love this design is the size, quality, and adjustability. It's definitely possible to make cheaper versions which are more limited, but this is a pro level unit

What am I missing? You don't have a camera behind your teleprompter, why not just read the iPad directly?
This is very true! If you were to read directly from the iPad, it would make it harder to connect with audience.
