DIY Teleprompter [On A Budget]

- In this video I make a DIY Teleprompter for only 3 dollars. This teleprompter can give your videos a more professional look and give your speaker more confidence. The teleprompter takes about 30 minutes to make and requires no special skills or tools.
All you need to make the teleprompter is:
-A black binder
-A 8x10 glass picture frame
-Binder clips
-A wire hanger
-Electrical tape
To use the teleprompter you will also a tablet with a teleprompter app and something to set it on.

Just got told at work that I should familiarise myself with a teleprompter and serched on youtube, thanks to your video Im gonna DIY one for my church to be using as well. One final thing where do new subscribers sit six years after the video was posted.

The only video I have understood.
I tried your tutorial and it worked great. I used a tempered
glass screen protector for an ipad instead to reduce the blurring of text. Only down side is you can't cut it. A cheap alternative to Beam splitter glass.
Did you just buy a tempered glass protector from the store and use that instead of regular glass? How much did it cut back on the blurry text? Thanks

It would work with a smartphone but the words would be really small and hard to read.

Thank you for the tutorial, I stumbled a lot when the camera starts rolling and my eyes goes off the camera lens to script failing to maintain eye contact, I did some research about looking natural on camera and I found a tip of using Powerpoint slides as a teleprompter software,
Do you have any clue about that platform? Thanks in advance.
Unless you have a windows tablet, I'm not sure how you would use powerpoint on a teleprompter

Great idea thanks. But I've tried looking for that particular binder with that material to allow the iPad to slip in but I can't seem to find it. Do you have any links for them on Amazon? I can only find the hard binders and that won't work for this.
The ipad is just sitting on the base on the binder, the only thing I slipped into the binder was the glass that goes in front of the camera lens
Do you have any idea if this will work with a GoPro 7 Black ?
thats probably too wide angle, you will see he sides of the teleprompter

@ Yoga Moga, you can also use your Powerpoint slides in a teleprompter using PPT Mirror tool , you can simply control the slides using Bluetooth pedal, to lead you while you speak so that your speech remains natural.

Would the camera not fit behind the Teleprompter so you can film with the person looking directly at the camera, while reading the words? I've seen them used this way and wondered if this model could do the same.

Thanks for the great video, Mina! But one thing doesn't work for me as it does in your video: The text in my glass is doubled, meaning I can see the text as a double image. I also used a picture frame glass and the simple teleprompter app as you did. Do you have any tips on how to solve that problem? Cheers for the help in advance ! :)

Nice. What program do you use to make the scrolling text?
I use a free andriod app called simple teleprompter. Not the most elegant app, but it's free and it works. There are some better teleprompter apps for 10-20 dollars as well, but I don't use it enough to worry about it.
Plz explain about the stand in which the teleprompter and the camera are mounted.
The teleprompter is just sitting on a music stand (could use any flat surface) and the camera is on a tripod behind it.
