3:31 =HF!!! Even they have a fan language... But I'm curious... Can it be considered the British Fan Language originate-in a long run- from Japan or the opposite?
I agree. I expected it to be kinda boring, just knocking something off with a fan. But that level of complexity makes it so fun. I feel most old Japanese folk games(let's call it that) are like that, more depth than you would think.
@@LetsaskShogo Please do, Shogo-San! Seeing you two play was truly a wonderful experience and I would love to see more. Thank you for sharing such amazing experiences with us!
I think when I manage to make it over to Japan I'll need to extend my stay time, Kyoto itself has soo many hidden gems never mind the rest of the country. I want to try it all. Awesome work as always Shogo and team🙏🏻 keep it coming💪🏻
I caught myself smiling all through out this video. I’m fascinated with fans. I have a framed peacock feather and carved ivory fan that I found in a mystery box at the first auction I attended. Thank you for sharing and helping me relive the experience of surprise at finding my fan.
I first learned about tosenkyo through Japanese hard rock band BAND-MAID. When they became BAND-MAIKO for a couple of videos, there's a short scene where the instrumentalists are sitting in a line watching the singer throw a fan. She throws quite stoically, and then other four politely applaud her.
I don't usually comment, but I must say, this was a very good video Shogo! The match was truly immersive and so much fun! Thankyou for taking us here :D take care!
Ok ok ok now i need to know all score positions and also i want to play that game! You two made it look so fun! And fans in the shop are really beautiful too!
In the U.K. we have a game called Pass the Pigs, where we throw two tiny toy pigs, and the position they land in gets different points. This game looks SO much fun! I wonder if I can get a kit to play with my family :)

That is a really fun looking game. The simplicity and it being so easy to set up and use in a very confines space is elegant (even if it was not meant to be so). I will have to look into this more.
I recently discovered your channel and really like it. I have been a Sumo fan for about 15 years. I would love it if you had the time and the inclination to make a video about it. Grand Sumo tournament has a basho in Osaka in March every year. I find similar beauty in some of the things you describe and Sumo. Thank you.
I’ve really enjoyed your channel. How I wish I found your channel when I was living in kobe for a year in 2015 😂 I would definitely have been making a lot of trips to Kyoto then. This was really fun. Keep up the content and I hope when I travel to japan again one day. I get to try these out. 😊
So did Harumi like the fan you bought to her? 😊 I was hoping to see her reaction to it in the end. 😄💜 Thank you, Shogo and Tomoko, this looked like so much fun!
Thanks shogo! Because this looked like so much fun my partner secretly bought it, it's just arrived and I cant stay mad coz it's so cute 🤣🤣 if you have any other traditional Japanese games to suggest I can start a collection with my fan game and hanafuda cards 😅
Very beautiful fans indeed. The one Tomoko Chan bought was 👌 Shogo, you were really lucky to win that game... I felt sorry for Tomoko 😎 Very beautiful shop indeed. I would have bought some fans too. 👍
Slight nitpick - I would’ve worded it “How Japanese Gambled *with* Throwing Fans” vs *by* Throwing Fans. The way you worded it makes it seem like it’s dangerous to throw a fan - like doing so leaves you open to attack or something. Otherwise, great video and very informative as always!
I am so enjoyed about your content about your family and experiences😁👍 I will come to visit Japan and I want to see you😅✌ Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤
My wife and I are having our wedding at the end of the year and planning on Japan for our honeymoon so this is definitely going on the list of things to do!!!
I ve' got practical question 😅 How do you fix it to stay full open only by itself??? Mines are still closing all the time so I need to hold them powerfully to stay open 🤷🏻♂️
As always, you have inspired me to try and get better so I can fulfill my dream of coming to Nippon. Every time I watch one of your videos, it makes my soul long to visit that much more. 🥰 I too have chronic, incurable conditions and diseases that were genetically passed down. Because of them, my dream of coming to Nippon for my honeymoon never happened. But, recently I have had quite a few surgeries to help ease my pain and symptoms, so I still have hope to some day be able to live that dream. Thank you for inspiring me, and know that your videos are used for more than just entertainment and learning. They also inspire, encourage, and uplift an overburdened soul. So, thank you to the entire Shogo crew, you really fill my heart with joy every time I watch. ❤️
Hello Shogo! I love your content and I wish to visit kyoto's gems (beautiful places and stores) one day and learn more about the japanese traditions and culture, and such, as a kid, I had this question stuck in my head: "Why do Asian (especially japanese people) hide their faces with fans or use fans to hide their faces?" It would be really cool if you teach us the reason behind this!!! Thanks a lot, as always great videos, and thank you for teaching us the traditions and culture's of japanese people, have a great day❤❤

Having different scores for different configurations made that game way more interesting than I expected. I would totally go play that.
I agree. I expected it to be kinda boring, just knocking something off with a fan.
But that level of complexity makes it so fun. I feel most old Japanese folk games(let's call it that) are like that, more depth than you would think.

In the US, Axe throwing has started to become popular. I want to try throwing fans, it reminds me of Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury/King of Fighters

The Maids brought me here too.
Me, a video game dork, immediately thought of world-famous video game character 不知火 舞 (Shiranui Mai) and her special move 花蝶扇 (Kachousen).
The fans are beautiful and that game looks super fun! I’d buy the diffuser fan.
For such a simple game it looks really fun. (Well simple in what you can do as a player. Kind of obsessed with the scoring methods)

That game was so entertaining to watch, at first it sounded very basic but learning about the point system and rules made it so interesting and cool.

2nd Plot twist: It's where Shogo and Kazu upload videos of them gambling by playing Tosenkyo.
Even watching the game is exciting! I can't help cheering for both of you.

ohh that looks super fun :D and knowing myself I'd get addicted to it too! Thanks for sharing this with us
Wasn't expecting to be so entranced by a fan tossing game, but that was intense!
the target in tosenkyo reminds me of the scales in mononoke, I wonder if that was the original inspiration for them
The fan game looks like a lot of fun! And the fans for sale were so beautiful 😍. I was also amazed at how many different type of fans there are
So did Harumi like the fan you bought to her? 😊 I was hoping to see her reaction to it in the end. 😄💜

Those fans are such beautiful works of art. I don't think I could bring myself to throw one!
Such an interesting and fun game! I’d love to try it someday ☺️ if you’re able to, seeing a video about calligraphy would be amazing 💕

Sadly a quick search doesn't show a way to purchase the items required where I am 😭
@Let’s ask Shogo , didnt you buy a fan for Harumi san?, i was really curious what type did you choose.
This was entertaining to watch.

Cool! how do you weight the bottom of the throwing fan and how many grams?
Azming work 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing video and amazing game, but something’s missing… sake!!
Nice
This is great!
very interesting!
is there anywhere that I could get a "score sheet" for the tosenkyo, I would love to introduce this at my anime group festival
A friend had a French Fort (I'm Canadian) Themed Wedding, as part of the Bridal Party I had a fan. It was very useful and helpful during the wedding & Reception. A game with scores named for the Characters sounds Delightfull! Would a Murasaki be the equivalent of a Grand Slam😘
Tomoko mentioned her family crest is a bellflower, I believe. What does that mean? Does every family in Japan have a crest or is this something special? Thank you.
Earning that 35 point in Tosenkyo must've been like catching the "Golden Snitch" in Harry Potter's Quidditch!
It's alot like that bean bag toss game. I like this one more though.
Ngl that looks fun to play with friends
That looks fun and hard to play 😆
I wonder if i culd order some of these there so cool
