- Willis Gibson, a 13-year-old from Oklahoma, became the first human to beat the classic game of Tetris. Previously, this had only been achieved by artificial intelligence. Gibson reached level 157 when the game could no longer keep up and crashed.

The creators of this game never even considered this remotely possible.
Bro he was just trying to survive communism.
@@Aqua.man045 yeah , and the whole history of how tetris was Made was a huge mess XD
@@Aqua.man045 "survive communism" what????
Tetris had a Soviet past@@XS-03_Apollo
It shows how resiliiant humanity are,
His dad died a couple weeks before this accomplishment. His dad always supported him and told everyone how proud he was of his sons tetris skills. Breaking the game ment more than just being the first. Made him feel close to his dad again ❤❤❤
😂😂😂
Something is wrong with you
Bro @@nahianabedin6613
I am proud of the Tetris community. This is by far the greatest achievement in NES Tetris history.
Nah, literal gaming history. This is probably one of the only games in the 20th century that hasn’t been beaten until now.
It shows how resiliiant humanity are,
And this are going to be the reason why we coexist with AI
Way to go kid. Dont let the haters discount anything youve done. You really did something amazing noone thought possible.
Who’s hating?
@@oolala53 People hate now a days for literally anything
'Wow this kid wasted all that time playing video games and y'all put him on the news?' -Hypothetical hater
@@oolala53’sky news’ belittled the kid. Told him to ‘go outside’ and that ‘beating Tetris isn’t a life goal. She was laughing and was so disgusting and condescending.
@@oolala53literal just look through this comments
Imagine hating a 13 year for playing games, people gotta spend their energy on other things
What. A. Beast.
I don’t think yall understand what it takes to do what this kid did at such a young age nonetheless
Why don't you teach us, professor?
you should be surprised if it was done by a adult, teenagers and way better at games/technology than adults.
Hours upon hours wasted by sitting there doing nothing 🤔🙄
@@gbv7957All anyone has ever done has been "nothing" - from a certain point of view.
Why do you think that we don't get it?!?
And can we all just take a moment and acknowledge the speed at which this game was being played..
At first I thought the gameplay was sped up omg I-
And to think the game reaches that speed at only level 29. He had to play through 128 levels at that speed before the game crashed.
The kid must have phenomenal concentration.
A lot of controllers have been smashed over the years trying to achieve this epic moment!
Super Human, undoubtedly! That was beyond insane, and his reaction is way precious!
It's nice to see a video or a news article that's just genuinely happy. That kid was so excited. More of these in the news would be awesome
I love his reaction, despite his nerves of steel and beating Tetris, he’s just a kid! Congratulations and enjoy your true win! 🎉🎉🎉
Since this achievement requires maximum reaction time and reflex, kids are actually more likely to achieve it than an adult. Children have faster reaction times, most probably because of predation in human evolution.
I dont think some people realize how fast his brain is processing for him to be able to do that. That's next level stuff....he ll definitely be a computer wizard-freak.
Well done, Willis. That is an astounding achievement!
Huge achievement for the gaming community PERIOD....KUDOS TO YOU YOUNG MAN.
@@DAN420. are the videos you're referring to did it on the original tetris? because I've seen other videos but none of them did it in the original one, let alone scored as high as this kid. If what he did is false then why do so many, professional players included, congratulated him on his feat?
I am aware of how difficult NES Tetris is and why people keep playing this version rather than the marathon mode of modern Tetris games as their ultimate challenge. But didn’t expect it can actually be conquered by human. Mad respects on his achievement.
Kid is true gamer material, well done!
Well done? It froze😂
@@DAN420.This has never been done before without AI or TAS, you know nothing lol
@andreasskordalis4062 it froze because the creators never expected anyone to even score that high
To play Florida tiktoks in GTA 6...🗿
This is absolutely insane and great work on his part..finally this proves that humans can still do amazing things. I used to play Tetris and got pretty far, but not this far in the game hats off to him!!
It’s crazy how I don’t see any congratulations comments, just haters so far. Anyways wow! What a great feat to accomplish at such a young age! I hope this allows him to put his critical thinking skills to good use as he gets older 🙌🏾🔥
I've yet to see one hate comment
@@DanRay-zf9zw you had to be here within the first 20 mins of the video dropping

Technically you didn't congratulate him either soooo
Congratulations kid you're the greatest Tetris player ever 🎉
As a gamer I find this to be not only a absolute win but also THE ABSOLUTE WIN.
*Brits:* "Beating Tetris is not a life goal."
*Americans:* "HUMANS WIN! YES!"
Bro was so cracked the game gave up 💀
The game has skill issue💀
Well done young man 😊😊😊😊
The best part is he recorded the proof 🔥🔥🔥 so happy for him 💯💯
I am a huge Tetris enjoyer and am glad you shared this moment we worked towards.
Amazing !
Congratulations 🎊
You are a HERO 🏆
Congratulations but hero is a bit too far.
I'm shook.....this is fkn impressive, idc who you are....acknowledge this kid
People don't understand how much skill this takes.. Gratz KID!
Great job 13 year old! You are on the prodigy watch list if you weren't already.
As a gamer, headsets off to you kid, live very long and prosper.
He found the light at the end of the long tunnel of Tetris! Congratulations to the kid!
Blue Scuti let’s goooooo, huge achievement for the classic tetris community
A real hats off to him, hope he’s living his best life!
and thats how normal humans should react when a child achieves something let alone a world record that none has done before
I bet it is a matter of time until Billie Mitchell sends in a grainy VHS tape of him beating it years ago.
I seriously doubt that, for as much as a gigantic narcissist as Mitchell is, I bet even he thought beating NES Tetris was impossible, and the rolling technique Scuti used is a fairly recent invention, and was not used during a huge portion of the game's lifetime until recently.
@@shayanmanteghi5662 i think his comment was sarcastic
And you don't even put the kid's video link?
His channel is “Blue Scutti” you’ll find the full video there
What a great reporters, who actually do their job and report the news, also sharing such an part of why that win is so important. Unlike the other channel, where host just decided to belittle the boy.
This isn’t the “news”. It’s distraction and propaganda.
@@bmak76 A new record was set and they're telling everyone about it. That is news whether you like it or not.
I can't even imagine getting to that level WTH I only made it to 101 😮 Congratulations little man 💗
That would put you in the top 5 Tetris players of all time, you should enter a tournament
HE IS THE RESISTANCE!!😂
John Connor would be proud.
Fair play to that kid!
Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Outstanding achievement! Way to go kid! 🙂
This was a great achievement but the NES version of Tetris was not the original. The first commercial release of Tetris was released on the PC in 1986 by a company called Spectrum holobyte
🎉 Congratulations Kid, you've made history.
Human finishes years after AI.
"Humans Win!".. 😂
Biden needs to award this kid the Medal of Freedom for beating the Russians at their own game!
Ha
Huge GG. Well done my man🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This kid has very high spatial intelligence.
The people in the comments being mad at a literal 13 year old is crazy. It’s honestly sad 😂
Humanity is proud of you son…
Very cool to see a news reporter actually knowing the proper background of this achievement and not just telling a 13 year old boy that beating Tetris is not an achievement an to "go outside"
Glad the kid recorded it
Good on him, you love to see it
What a legend
much better vibes than that garbage reporter from sky news
The correct way to report this story.
Pride of human being. He won. We won.
Congrats comrade
oh dang congratulations to my classmate
Stupid how that one person says to go outside and get a “life goal” to a 13 yr old
Jonas Neubauer smiled from the sky that day.
I feel like I made it crash back in day … but just because I needed to take the cartridge out and blow on it 😂
FACT:
ITS NOT THE TRUE ENDING
there are still a couple levels that are inhumane because the game crashes.... but... ITS STILL POSSIBLE
This boy earned this win on a game that wasn't meant to be winnable.
What a legend!
This is similar to what COD Zombies challenge runners used to race against. The killscreen when the game reaches its max capacity of entities and forces a restart or crashes.
what this kid did is fkn crazy!! great job
Also most people don't know is he dedicated this gameplay to his father who recently passed away.
The fact that there was a panthers logo at the beginning makes me think that we are going to finish 1-15
Mom: iam plucking off the wires, you are playing game too much
Son: oh wow I broke the game
Absolutely legendary
Finally a positive news anchor, unlike that other one.
They reported this better than sky news
Its great that these news anchors were actually happy for him and found the joy in it unlike that rude British lady. She should apologize
Well-done young human
And from then, a legend was born.
Congratulations Dude!
From Das to Hypertapping and now Rolling, this game has evolved over the years
One small victory for humanity!
wow really? i really thought the game was cleared before. he's a legend
Yes, by a computer that was trained to play the game beyond human speed.
Was it a "computer" or just a TAS?
@@DAN420.Actually no. At level 29 the blocks are moving so fast that normal button mashing literally can't physically keep up. The technique that kid is using is called "rolling" and was only invented in 2018 for the specific purpose of being able to consistently get past 29 let alone all the way to 157.
Wow. Newscasters that actually care. Nice.
protect this kid at all costs....that is next level John Connor stuff.
Bro probably came
He is the definition of hes HIM
This was so cute he seems really passionate about Tetris
ONE QUESTION : Why is it said he reached level 157, whereas on the scrern it is written level 18 ?
Because the level display was already glitched at this point.
only gamers will understand how legendary this is
I would like to extend my deepest congratulations to you for engraving your name in gaming history. Sincere congratulations.
BOOM! Tetris for Jeff.
lol congrats kid!! love his reaction 😂❤
Wait it doesn't make any sense. The 999999 is a $string converted to digital only, not a limit. The limit would be in binary depending on how many bytes was the string limit so a. $String overflow would hit only if you had a string limit in binary places, 1 byte being 8 bits or 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2. Then as you add bytes it goes up time 256 points.
1=256
2=65 536
3=16 million.
Unless they hard coded an event, then forgot to add in the unless at that score.
I bet that's what happened.
What
No, it's because there are some situations when if something special happens(like finishing a line in 157) it would trigger something that would destroy the code
What a great story to start the year
It makes sense, with the coming of cell phone gaming and computer savvyness, that's a lot of hand eye skills being gained.
This boy is amazing
He has made literally history
And it was only possible through new ways of playing the game and tapping the buttons at a very very fast rate.
These people are so much more respectful than that mean British Lady.
THESE GUYS PROBABLY HEARD ABOUT THE SKY NEWS REPORTER AND DECIDED NOT TO BASH, LOL
I consider this the greatest achievement in gaming history
Go kid!!!
What if someone beated before but didnt film it?
It's SUPER unlikely. For decades, people thought the game "ended" at Level 29 when the blocks fall too fast to play. This guy made it to Level 157. In order to get this far you need to press the buttons at a speed of 20x per second. I doubt any random gamers in the 80s did that.
@@selfloathinggameing when i played as kid when it gets fast i pause after every block to see what to do next xd
