Just found you! Yay! Thank you for the video about bypassing our black tank! As full-time rv-ers >8 years, that is the primary reason I could be talked into coming off the road.
Seems like a great addition for a new RV. I spend a considerable amount of time flushing my black tank. Sure would be nice not to have to do that. However I don’t see the valve being successful for retrofits. Awesome video!
I'd agree - unless its a 5er or Class A that has easy and clear access with all the plumbing necessary in the right location - it'll probably be more suited for an OEM install.
The valve is a good idea, BUT only works practically on upper decks of 5th wheels due to the vertical spacing requirements so leaves out the vast majority of the travel trailer community. The cost and complexity of building pedestals just isn’t justifiable in most cases.
However, I think if its designed in from the beginning - the valve could be horizontal and then drop into black tank - you're correct - retrofit on TT is going to be difficult- but I think OEM could easily incorporate it without significant changes.
Very similar, if not the same, as the marine Y-valve! Dumo into the holding tank or through the macerator directly overboard to sea (Only legal past the 3 mile limit in the US!)
My questions would be, 1.) are manufacturers making a list of current and past models that this will work in (i.e. real estate inside the rig to make the install happen), 2.) will parts such as pipe length(s) be pre-cut, or will they send you a single pipe and you cut the length(s) you need, and will the kit include pipe cleaner and glue, or to keep costs down, have the purchaser swing by their nearby home improvement/hardware store and pick it up.
I very highly doubt manufacturers will ever spend the time to create such a list, so don't expect it, and the y-valve is the only part I think you'll get - any additional piping, glue, tools etc will need to be provided - which is why they are recommending them be installed by RV Tech's that will have the know how and equipment to correctly accomplish this.
So in other words it's just like every new product that comes to Market. Some people will love it, some people don't see the point. I guess this guy being a full-time RV or saw the point and was able to sell Morryde ride as well
My friend Jared did a few videos on this: th-cam.com/video/fhVusjZgWQY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JRSxZQtqxf5gzwqe th-cam.com/video/MXvx5j3gK4U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rIp8iP1NKG5v4rrn
@@h2o100c I don’t understand your reply. I turn off my hot water eater while I’m traveling then when I’m Boondocking, I turn it on to heat the water but as I use the water, the heat hot water heater turns on to keep the water hot which wastes a lot of energy. A tankless does not waste energy. You don’t have to wait for the water to get hot.
my hose MUST lay on the ground due to the outlet being so low to the ground so guess this is a no-go for me(the trap item)...... as for the bypass I just don't see the importance? if it was pre-installed at build then ok might use but am not paying big $ for the option...
Why not also add bypass to the gray while you’re at it? Be pretty easy for new units to have this done from factory. Selling point for full timers and wouldn’t add much more to price.
I doubt that this works well, because draining your black tank will provide the necessary volume of water to get all of the waste through the rv sewer hose. I seriously doubt his claims that a single flush from a rv toilet will carry the solid waste all the way to the dump station inlet.
No personal experience to speak from here, but I’d also like to point out that EZ RV Solutions had to sell MORryde on the whole thing to get to this point too - time and community data points will tell
@@rvgearandfar Data points from unbiased sources might become available in the future, but I sure wouldn’t spend my money on something like this that attempts to fix a nonexistent problem, and it appears from a common sense perspective, to be unworkable. My background is in construction, engineering and code enforcement, so I know a thing or two about plumbing, as well as my experience with RV camping.
I don't know. As overly expensive as rvs are now, another reason to raise the cost? Some long stays might see a benefit. It might fall into nice to have but not essential. The more moving parts and complicated we make these systems the more potential failures. Pull valves used to be so dependable, now they fail at an alarming rate, and of course a company is there to sell a dependable pull valve. Real field testing by real rivers that really use it not lab geeks and managers looking for another revenue stream. If it passes the full timer stationary testing maybe an option. Problem is we are getting less options now just get what the manufacturer says we need, because it saves them money... Just my thoughts. 😊 Go Army!!
All valid points. I will point out however, that the inventor IS a full time RVer - he designed this because it filled a need in his full-time family lifestyle.
For the retrofit - yeah maybe - but how could would it be to get this installed from the factory and literally with the switch of a button skip the black tank when on full hookups?
This looks more like a solution in search of a problem. I can't for the life of me see how that would install as a retrofit without completely replumbing the black tank. My toilet sits right on top, with about 4 inches of drop into the black tank. There's zero room to install this without moving the entire tank. I suspect most rigs are similar. You'd have to relocate the black tank to create enough space for the valve. I can't really see a need for this.
But used together the intent is to keep grey open as well, with the snap trap - to that you don't have to empty ANY tanks - we'll see how it play out in the market.
This is a great product for a niche consumer. I personally wouldn't want to spend the money on it for it to be pre-installed on a new rig. Primarily because I would never use it. I have never stayed at a campsite more than 3 days.
Really? How cool, I'd love to get down to an RV show in Australia one of these years - is is called something specific? I want to research it more ◡̈ Thanks for sharing, I'm excited to learn more
Lost you at 18:17 - well dang! Thanks for hanging out with me ;) I think the retrofit market will be small, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it as an option in the coming years- might even spur some new innovation in RV toilets too!
A very expensive solution in search of a real problem! This is ridiculous! 24” vertical height needed! Good luck with that. And have fun with crap stuck in that fake P trap. But, if you have money to waste, go right ahead.
What if you had option, on full hookups, to ELIMINATE the need for your black tank? Yet, still retain it for use when traveling or boondocking.? These upcoming products: the RV Residential Flush and the RV Snap Trap combine to achieve exactly that with a flip of switch!

@rvgearandfar i agree
would love to see this for the grey tank too
whole sewer system bypass!
Looks like a solution in search of a problem.....
Thanks for the opinion!
I would like to see a video on replacing your hot water heater with a tank to a tankless hot water heater in the same space

There is absolutely NO need to heat hot water! No need for a “hot water heater “ if the water is hot why in the H does it require heating again???

👍 the legs on the rv snap trap fold up too - so you can use it on the ground

Cost?
They didn't have pricing available at that time - check here for upcoming information: www.ezrvsolutions.com
I guess it expensively solves a non-existent problem.
For the retrofit - yeah maybe - but how could would it be to get this installed from the factory and literally with the switch of a button skip the black tank when on full hookups?
I'm very skeptical that solids are going to move through the snap trap. Maybe a macerator inline to break up solids and paper..
@@thisoldrelic Agreed - its 1000% geared towards seasonal and long term RVers
@@charlesklaus6290 It will be awesome to get it into the field and get some feedback from multiple sources
@rvgearandfar and if you're seasonal and directly connected, bypassing the tank, you're probably already plumbed in with ABS drainage and a trap.

Yupp, retrofit would be tricky, but OEM installation I can see catching on
Seems complicated. Emptying a black tank isn't too hard. You have to empty the gray anyway- might as well do both while you're out there.

Yes, absolutely niche for sure - the snap trap will do well for them though I bet!
I am sorry Australian RV’s have had bypass valves for black / grey water for years so that claim is BS

i can make this whole system with PVC Pipe, and save hundreds for what they want to sell it for.
Ok
Another gadget to take your money. This product makes no sense.
You talk too much, get to the point.
Interesting 🧐
Brilliant, take a simple system and make it more expensive and more likely to have problems. Waste of time and money for the vast majority of RVers
Thanks for sharing your opinion ◡̈ Happy camping!
