    You can put marks on the tape measure for your slide outs and awning. It’s a quick and easy way to make sure you’ve left enough room for each before unhitching the trailer.

    I EDC a small tail clicker flashlight that normally takes a single AAA. I put in the higher voltage 10440 battery for a much brighter output.

    I bought the hitch handle immediately. I didn't even know that was a thing. Thanks! I also want to know where you bought the rack that allows you to store your hitch on the tongue of your RV. Did you rig that yourself, or is it a product?

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made it out of steel tubing. You can buy commercial versions too - look up EZSTOREHITCH and HITCHPORT

    That hitch grip will be in my next Amz order. Because those coiled brake cables are dynamic, it can be difficult to know when it will pull out and trip the trailer brakes. The trailer could be hanging by the chains with the coil stretched but not enough to trigger the brakes. I bought 2 of them and never used them once I worked through the potential for damage vs the trouble of the static line.

    • @rvgearandfar

      The hitch grip is great!

    I’ve been looking at the hitch grip for a while now, I think that’s my next purchase. I noticed you have a hitch holder on your tongue. I didn’t know they commercially made them, I made my own last year, and I love it. No more dragging that heavy anti-sway bitch around!

    I have that tape measure. However, my job required I use metric. I swapped the blade from a 6' Milwaukee. I would LOVE if DeWalt would make a metric version.

      Agreed - I would love the combo imperial/metric sided tapes!

    • @kaypee65
      @kaypee65 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I am replacing all of my baseboards in my house. If you don’t like the metric system before doing finish carpentry you are going to undergo a rapid conversion. I need a good metric tape, I think I’ll go the the fancy hardware store and get a Milwaukee since the chain stores don’t have what I want.

    The infrared thermometer is an excellent tool alongside the TMPS sensor. I'm curious what bearing temp are we looking for in a travel trailer? The high for PSI is 158. Thanks

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both of those numbers are going to depend on YOUR specific rig and setup - if my travel trailer tires got to 158 psi they would probably be in pieces - what I'm looking for in the bearing temps is that all four are roughly similar - that one wheel isn't super hot compared to the rest - but you can also just record the temps over several days travel and get an average range that you'r setup runs in.

    everybody must have a knife all them at all times.
    not a big, even a grandpa knife is good.
    i have a holster ( band of knives i think is the manf) but it holds a multi tool, a mag two -AA- cell light, and a pen).
    everybody i know, says i have a lose screw.
    noise maker. i have a c-pap for that.
    there should never be any grease anywhere on a ball hitch, dirt and grit sticks to grease. and grinds thing up.
    yes up grade the breakaway cable. it should be at least five times stronger than the part it pulls out of the trailer.

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like to grease the ball on each trip - but you're correct, its essentail to wipe it clean and reapply if the ball has spent any time uncoupled from the trailer as it easily collects dirt and debris
