Just wonderful hearing this true live version with more or less just the 4 members playing instead of the extended band of later tours...... Sublime from start to finish.
to me this is the best live version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond, more bluesy and chill than the studio version. Rick Wright contributions are totally outstanding, with a special mention to Waters vocals in this one. And obviusly Gilmour and Mason killing it as always.
I think the band is cool. Goes back to my young adult years, getting stoned. I was crazy back then and I was told this song reminded them of me back ck them. Love this
@@jeanbranlpahune9825 hahahaha I definitely think so! To me, a young soul, is hard to understand how so many good bands existed at the same time, imagine being in the early 70's and you have to go to a Pink Floyd gig one day, another day going to a Led Zeppelin gig etc. It must have been freaking amazing
Thanks, much ... we need Pink to be back together. We need Roger. Admit it, you do, too! Let the past be in the past, blast to the future, a new frontier ... Take us there!
@@patriciabarnett8763 well it seems that Roger screwed up somehow again, there was peace between those two and it seems that it isn't anymore. Someone here was hinting that Roger prevented releasing some of the old remastered material, maybe it was that I don't know. But just to set the record straight, both David and Roger have gone on tour since Rick's passing.
@@patriciabarnett8763 it's true and I attended all those tours, because I love both of them. And none of those tours were as PF. Maybe I got too emotional and I'm sorry for that - I see too often that people tend to bash David about his attitude to Roger and hint that he owes something to his fans - and he doesn't from my point of view. I'm absolutely ok if everything he cares about now is his family for the rest of his life and he stays happy. There happened things that we can't see and I simply respect their decisions - both of them, David or Roger. yeah because they basically rehearsed a lot of songs live in the 70s before they were put on a record. This is Shine On You in it's early state in late '74 ;)
I love every version of Shine On. It would be great if the parts 5 and 6 were mixed, maybe on some new "Best of Pink Floyd" release. We are all still waiting for the integral version of this best song ever. The early studio mix without the saxophone and with mixing of parts 5 and 6 is great and has a very dramatic transition between these parts, sounds so authentic! Maybe it can be released on a potential Middle Years - Volume 1974-75 along with some live performances, like the Los Angeles one in April 26, 1975 (the whole concert is amazing, especially the early version of Shine On - both halves with Have a Cigar in between).
That is a simply magic! My father listened Pink Floyd, me listening Pink Floyd, and I hope one day my kids will listen such a beautiful music too. Thank you so much!
I love Pink Floyd simply because every piece was worked on for months live before it was perfected in the studio, and that meant every version was unique in it's own way, the intro in this version for example is hauntingly beautiful. The way they worked on pieces like The Man and The Journey, Atom Heart Mother, Echoes, Dark Side, Shine On, Animals etc was fantastic and audiences were truly lucky to experience it. A real treasure 👍🏻
Wish Pink Floyd were still here....
they are not dead...
Not all of them are still here, but for me they will always be alive in their music
Imagine being at the concert and listen to this masterpiece for the first time (the album has been released one year after)
They also performed early versions of 2 songs that would not be released for another 3 years. Insane.
And the live recording made at Empire Pool 15th November 1974, was not released until 2011.
The audience never heard it before, but they instantly knew it was a classic.
