This was exactly what I needed today, to travel, if only in my mind. I see my parents aging in New York, and how hard it is for them when they are not well. For most of the year they can’t get outside. Yes, we have them in wheelchairs when they have to go to see their doctors-about the only time they get out when the weather is bad. But the transfers are so dangerous, from the chair to the car, when the ground is icy or even just wet. The summer is just as dangerous, with their blood pressures so fragile. The heat isn’t the problem so much as the humidity-it just pulls the sweat out of them and they dehydrate so fast. Trying to keep rooms the right temperature, getting out to shop for “fresh” food-it is time-consuming, and I wonder how my wife and I will be able to age here. The weather aside, my main concern is that the housing costs are so high. We don’t live “fancy,” but even living like we do, when we are not earning as much, will be…the numbers just don’t add up. Housing in places like Bocerias-very low-crime cities near airports-offer housing at 1/15th what I see for the same thing in the US. Their healthcare is a few hundred dollars a year. I don’t know about communal living with friends, but I could see my wife and me going in on a place with my sister-in-law. These homes are huge, 3- to 5000 square feet, with separate units dedicated to income-earning possibilities, bed and breakfast type setups that cater to 65 and over travelers. In my eyes, all of this adds up to a beautiful way to age: It adds up to time. Time to walk, hike, swim, read, to eat homegrown food or to go out once in a while to listen to some music…time to laugh, or to be quiet, to be peaceful, grateful.
What an incredible place to live! The outside area is vibrant and the interior is great. Right now I'm in a studio apartment, but the time may come when I need to cut expenses even further and at that point, I'll be looking for a few fun women who want to do shared housing! I rented rooms from a couple of wonderful women when I was in my 50's and going through post-divorce financial crises, but it was fun and we respected boundaries. It can work for sure!
@@TheMaggieDress1 I am not in Mexico, but in Colorado. Just commenting on the cohousing idea. For now, I'm giving up my apartment and wandering via train, car, and foot for a while!
Beautiful but so confusing! Is this for roommates/shared housing (yuk)? Is it still a hotel or available for seniors now? Is it rental or condominium status?
It depends on a lot of factors. which city / coastal , further inland / how big / condo or a house... once you narrow down your wish list and an approximate location. Or if you have a specific budget then that will dictate which towns/cities /countries would be most affordable.
I looked into this with more details and I did find the different places and their price per type of accommodations Ahh 😱 the prices are no es bueno !! Looks to be around 2000 to 3000, or more depending on location and type of rooms 😏
I don't know but it is such a small town that I doubt it...especially with Covid not sure if live shows like that are happening. You are more likely to find entertainment in Puerto Vallarta. Have fun!

susan mijares She’s just touring us around a hotel, fantasizing.
They never give a price list! They want to look, you over first and try to assess how much money you have.

Hello there, my name is Gera and I have a question. I'm visiting Bucerías soon and I'm wondering if there are stand up comedy shows in English there.
