  • Here is the video where this head was tested/abused before I sharpened it. • Iron Will SINGLE BEVEL...
    To understand what sharp means at each grit. See my video. • Bowhunting and the Sci...
    This Iron Will head requires a sharpener that matches its 32 degree bevel so I came up with a solution. To test it's function I restored a single bevel head that had been through destructive testing. If it can repair this sort of damage, it will work great for sharpening your heads after you take an animal or practice with the head. This guide will be available in March of 2021. For a complete list of all our broadhead sharpening guide visit staysharpguide.com.

    Could you just file down the tanto tip to a regular point while you're sharpening or would that ruin the overall blade?

    What buffing wheel works good on the bench grinder? Also whatever i do i just cant manage to get the mirror finish on the bevel. I walk through all the grits and buffing compound. I can get a mirror finsh and razor edge on my vpa heads just fine but it just cant see to get it on the ironwills

    I shoot 125 gn Cutthroat 2 blade single bevel heads. Do you recommend the existing holder for these heads or do you suggest holding out until March for availability of the 32 degree holder? The Cutthroat site lists the bevel as 25 degrees on their head. I don’t see the sanding plates on your site. Do you sell those too?

      You will want the standard black 25 degree jig for those. Same one recommended for the 150 grain cutthroats that I have.

    Purchased a Stay Sharp for my Iron Will broadheads. I found it to be too labor intensive and impractical for real world use. Buying sheets of different grades of sandpaper made it even more so. By the time you get all the angles adjusted you will have wasted half a day, not to mention removed a lot of material from the broadhead. Being just a little off will mess things up big time. I found it much easier to get razor sharp results by disassembling the head and using sharpening stones. So, save yourself a lot of time, effort and aggravation and use good quality sharping stones.

      yes diamond plates (which we offer) are needed for these heads which is why we state that in the video. Also you CANNOT use sandpaper meant for wood which is why we only sell silicone carbide paper but still, you dont want to use anything but diamond plates for steel this hard.

    I notice my VPA Penetrators eat up sand paper as well. Are there certain metals you recommend for Diamond?

    • @innovativeoutdoorsman5067
      @innovativeoutdoorsman5067  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes all steels can be honed with sandpaper but it will consume the sandpaper faster if hard metal is being honed. But then sandpaper is far lower cost. Carbon steel about Rockwell harness of 56 would be a good candidate for diamond over sandpaper but diamond plates are far more expensive.

    How long do your diamond plates last compared to sandpaper? I know that is hard to answer we'll just say I need to sharpen 6 braodheads maybe twice a year, im just sick of going through sandpaper like crazy!

    • @mikeanderson223
      @mikeanderson223 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will last you years if you use light pressure. And a personal tip I use a few drops of water to retain the metal shavings and it gets the edge sharper faster. Just make sure rinse it off after use and dry very well before storing or the shavings left in the behind will rust.

      If you buy diamond sharpener, use some oil, like lansky, you will get a smooth edge and longer lasting sharpener.
