These graphics were unbelievable on the PS2 when this game came out.
Yeah they were top of the line, especially since there were no loading times!
when gow3 came out on ps3, it was the peak graphic for ps3. god of war really used the full power of the console
My PS2 used to overheat with god of war lol
Eh not really. Kh2 came out same year
Hell, even when I played GOW 3 on my PS4 my PS4 sounded like a plane trying to take off lmao Sure am glad they fixed the heating problem with the PS5.
Old Kratos: "I killed many who were deserving... and many who were not!"
As a long time fan, it was crazy to see Kratos actually develop allies like Brock and Sindri through his son's openness, just knowing that any time Kratos comes across someone innocent in the old games, they were usually dead within minutes of their appearance lol
Innocent people usually meant key to a door has been found
@@pragadees_ Or a perfect wedge for moving gears
It made me audibly laugh when Kratos was scolding Atreus for letting his anger get a hold of him. But it also makes sense that Kratos 100% fully understands the danger of letting that happen.
@@ZeallustImmortal yeah, any time Atreus got too angry or started thinking he could do whatever he wants, I thought about how similar he is to young Kratos and how much that must upset Kratos, which is why he's so hard on him about it. It just makes the "we must be better" type lines hit different. That character growth is crazy lol
Athena didn't lie, she said his past would be forgiven and Kratos thought she meant taking his memories away.
She knew what he thought she meant but she tricked him with a technicality
@@bipstymcbipste5641 Yeah I guess it is a lie of omission 🤷🏻
she give him false hope
Her intention is clear for us to see. She was just getting the work done. Of course Kratos couldn't understand it. I think none in his position would. She just played him with words or like a politician. Gods are no different than mortal beings. Just with some powers or abilities and promotions as a being. NOT PERFECT. But of course not all of them are same
Athena actually meant to take kratos nightmares but zeus refused even after athena's continued pleadings and protest
It was revealed in a book that showed that this events actually happened while kratos was getting close to reaching pandora's box
Now with the new dlc that came out glad all the god of wars are being watched now. Makes the DLC more better knowing everything.
why?
İt's not a story dlc,is it?
@@spacewalker806There is some story to it.
@@spacewalker806 it's basically Kratos going through therapy with Tyr's help
@@spacewalker806 it is
It gave me tears upon seeing Kratos making peace to his past self.
One of my favorite old games. Best lore in my opinion
My favorite is God of War 2 because they changed the controller scheme.
@NightWolfXVI How did they change the controller scheme in GOW 2?!? You still block and attack the same way! Other than pressing R1 or R2 for using the Amulet of Fates to slow down time I don’t see any difference. 🙄
@@bradleymcavoy3432 y’all didn’t notice in God of War you have to repeatedly tap the R2 to open doors, it’s now R1 and tapping the O button in God of War 2 and God of War 3.
@NightWolfXVI That still doesn’t change or effect combat very much at all from GOW 1 to 2! 🙄😉
@@bradleymcavoy3432 those are both my favorite
So glad you decided to check these out!! It is true that you necessarily don't have to know the other games in order to enjoy the 2018 game, but for me personally, its always better to know the full story so that you can fully appreciate the spin off and understand the references. Its a lot more impactful when you see his bandaged arms because of the scars the blades gave him, the reveal when they brought the blades back, and when he opened up to Atreus about wanting him to a better man than he was, just to name a few.
A complete summary video might be better especially for small details that may get overlooked-plus the story will be ordered properly.
Exactly! For a gamer's perspective, watching cutscenes is good but for a non-gamer, a summary video/recap would have been better.
I really recommend reacting to the other games in release order and not just the three main ones because there's also quite a bit of information about Kratos' family in the other ones that are for other platforms.
It's really unnecessary and overcomplicates, though that Colliope scene breaks my soul
@@danielendlessafter seeing Valhalla play through I think it’s honestly a must watch for full context
@@danielendlesskratos literally mentioned his brother tho so its canon
They could have watched a recap of God of War. That makes it easier to understand the story.
All the games are Canon
The god of war series is my all time favorite. All of them. So glad you're watching it.
You can see how the blades of chaos in the fourth one means so much for fans to reappear. The trauma of him having to use them again after you seen what happened with them
This is such perfect timing for all of us currently grinding the dlc. As we contemplate on Kratos' history, we get to see these two react to Kratos' history for the first time. Very satisfying!
Can't wait to see you guys eventually get to God Of War Ragnorok cutscenes, I appreciate you guys are willing to go through the rest of the series to get a grasp of the rest of the story to come
I am so thankful that you guys actually listen to the audience and are watching this, It will be great for your understanding too to know the backstory. I really enjoy watching you guys react to such good video games. Thank you and keep up the good work.
The greek saga provides so much context behind kratos' arc
U made my day 😭 thanks a lot for nostalgia God of war keep continue the series
woop woop! thank you guys for going on this jouney :D
Definitely watch all the parts. I want to see them too but now as you are watching them too it will be fun with them together
Glad you guys went back gives so much more context to the blades why he hides them and hides the scars on his arms as well as his pale skin and the fact that the story involves carrying his wifes ashes.
I had actually forgotten that Kratos' pale skin was the ashes of his wife and daughter.
But I do remember how frustrating that second to last fight was protecting them.
And technically, when Kratos asked if he killed Ares, the visions would end, Athena neither confirmed nor denied his question, she only said his "past would be forgiven."
you should seen the last fight protecting them in the hardest difficulty....i almost lost my mind to beat that
That's simply what the Ghost of sparta is
very happy you guys are doing this. Can't wait till you start the complete cutscenes from God of War Ragnarok. Also the timing is perfect because a new DLC just came out for GOW Ragnarok 2 days ago which you guys should also react to.
yeesss. they've gone back! for some reason I was SO hooked on that 6 Part series and not seeing anything else for a couple days was hurting my heart
Like I said it is a pure masterpiece. The story and storytelling, the music, the character design and development.. There is nothing much to talk about
This put a gigantic smile on my face. Thank you guys so much for actually taking the time to watch the original trilogy (: you guys are NOT ready for God of war 2 and 3 🔥
Loved the reaction! It's an amazing trilogy.
This is what I am waiting for 🙏🙏
Seeing those cutscenes give me so much nostalgia...those games were my whole childhood and im so glad the old games are a centerpiece of the new dlc that just came out
This is where the fun begins!!!! 🙏🏽💪
I like how both of you are shocked bout how Kratos was as a character, which made that scene at GOW4 way heavy where after Baldurs death Freya cries to Kratos saying "...you're still a monster!" Then Kratos replies "then you do not know me"
12:47: Medusa does use a technique on Kratos to get him to turn to stone. The only way to avoid it is by dodging in whatever direction, so that she doesn't get a fix.
I can't wait till you do God Of War 2 and 3 as well as Chains Of Olympus, Ghost Of Sparta and Ascension.
Ladies please watch “God of War Ascension from the ashes” trailer. YOU NEED TO SEE IT , Please ! 🙏 upvote this so they can see.
6:11 Kristen be like: "This is getting out of hand! Now there's two of them" ;D
Ah heck yeah! I was hoping this was coming.
Subscribed just for this
This is the best God of War trilogy
Nicely done, ladies!
One of the things i absolutely loved about the older GOW games was just the variety in weapons and magic, you could use for combat that i felt was lacking from the newer games. Still loved them though can't wait to see your guy's reaction to gow 2 my personal favorite of the franchise.❤
absolutely fell in love with this game when I played it when it came out
I think it’s important to have knowledge of the Greek storyline if you really want to understand and see Kratos character development over time which is phenomenal to be honest so glad that u guys are checking out the old games now👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
This is gonna be fun!
these are great
You should probably react to Chain of Olympus or Ascension after this, as those games take place before god of war 2 or even this god of war 1.
Also biggest disrespect from the gods, "Well we are not only gonna refuse to simply remove your nightmares you always have after 10 years of service but we also gonna deny you to suicide so you must live more with the nightmares" XD
Sad they won't watch the Ghost of Sparta, Chains of Olympus, and Ascension. For me, watching all of greek saga are so worth it.
Also don't forget to watch the prequels cutscenes. Ascension and Chains of Olympus takes place before this one and Ghost of Sparta takes place between 1 and 2.
Yessssssssssss I'm here for this
Now I know some people are already saying react to the other games in release order, but I personally believe the best order to to understand Kratos and why he is the way he is. After this game you should do Acension, then Chains of Olympus, those two games takes place before his final task in Athens, then it's Ghost of Sparta, GOW2, and GOW3. Then you are all set for Ragnorok, and Valhalla.
Cant wait for the next part reaction....
Dang I just picked up that it was Linda Hunt narrating there! Miss bad ass Hetty Lange!!
Thank you so much for listening to the comments and going back and reacting to the original games. Technically, Jaby was correct. God of War (2018) was a soft reboot of the series so you don't have to know about the original games to understand the story (for the most part). However, as someone who has played the games, I will say you miss out on a lot of the context, as well as the emotional impact of the story, if you don't know the struggles of Kratos' past. You guys had so many questions about why Kratos hates the gods, why he is so afraid to get close to his son, etc. All of those questions are answered in the original games.
Next to watching the other GoW games before GoW Ragnarok, I recommend watching the Valkyrie missions From GoW 4 since they weren't in the video you watched and they are kind of important to GoW Ragnarok.
YESSSSSSSS WANTED THISS
I remember buying this game when it came out I want to game stop and bought and when I got home I don't stop until I finish it I played it on the hardest difficulty it took my a while I miss the original voice actor for Kratos is name is Terrence C. Carson ... The new voice actor he's ok but nothing is like the original 😊.. keep up the great work much love from Hollywood C.A
18:17 what!?? 😂. Your dad sounds like an awesome dude 😎 lol
2005 was a wild year for games, i only remember playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and Quake 4 singleplayer tho. oh and GTA San Andreas lol
43:38 Yikes! That would be most unfortunate! 😭😂
yo, that boatman gave nostalgia.
he was talked about in the ragnarok valhalla dlc
Just to let you know there's 3 "side" games that takes place chronologically before and after this first game. They are called Ascension, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta.
They are worth checking just because they show more of Kratos' family and "human" side. Those 3 side games gives more explanation to why he snapped, before it goes to 2 and 3 where he goes to the deep end and becomes rageful and "kill all gods" mode.
So G.O.W 2 and 3 are the last of the Greek saga
55:00 Kratos keeps his blades because they are bound to him, both physically, and spiritually. They are a part of him, and thus travel to the afterlife with him.
Daam you guys got content for months
I want see what you guys think of COD MW 2 no Russian mission
God of War 1 & 2 are my favorite GOW games and the only ones i have played.
I'd also recommend to watch "God of War | Raising Kratos | "Making Of" Documentary" its a really interesting look into the behind the scenes of how God of War (2018) was made! It's super good if you're into documentary style videos!
This is a good place to start hopefully we guys are done I hope you guys get to start on on Ascension and chain of Olympus that is the beginning of the whole story I won't say anything else but enjoy the ride
OH THANK GOD (of war) they are finally reacting to the original games before Ragnarok!
They should’ve started with this from the beginning!
pls cover every god of war game it would be a great fun for you and us all
You need to react to part 2 and 3
53:28 The most epic throw in history 😅 I love it. In newer games he still bears the scar
Buddy you are wrong here
Those scars are due to blade of Olympus which Zeus stabbed during GOW 2 or 3 I guess
God I hope this means they’re going through all of it. PS4 is a level of masterpiece rarely seen
It is not shown in the cutscenes, but in the Temple of Pandora you can see a fresco with the prophecy that Kratos will fight Zeus and that Zeus did not do it, but chained his father Kronos to wander through the desert, ordered the architect Pathos Verdes 3 to build a temple hiding a box (he and his whole family died in this temple), sent Titans to TartarusAs a result , his fate is predetermined , as predicted , including the Oracle
Sees Ares, "He's a ginger?" Lmao 🤣
Wow, you guys are reacting to the first God of War Video Game? That's cool.
Maybe you guys should react to the cutscenes of the Spider-Man: Edge of Time Video Game, so you guys can learn more about Miguel O'Hara.
"he killed his family", he's not even close to being done killing his family at this point
Man it mustve been too long since ive played gow, cause i definitely dont remember talking to the gods on the walls
Watching this after playing Valhalla is a trip
I feel it would've been better if they reacted to the God Of War Full Story Of Kratos Complete History by Game Clips. As it's covers everything in an organize engaging movie like way.
But I'm glad they're doing it all 👍👍👍
I watched a 30m summary of all the other games before playing the new ones, Id say thats all you REALLY need. But they are still good games
55:00, you need to watch the trailer for Accession, there scene with Coliapy, Kratoeses daughter, it is so beautiful AND tragic.
You mentioned that being a demigod may not mean you are immortal, and you're right. In actual Greek mythology, Demigods (while half-God) were mortal. And it's interesting that in this game he is thought of as a mortal (while he is a demigod), but in God of War 4 (where he is still a demigod, or at least I am pretty sure he is) he is seen as a God. Also, I believe the story thread of him killing his wife and child comes from actual Greek mythology. In the story "The 12 Labors of Heracles," the demigod son of Zeus, Heracles (most popularly known as Hercules) was driven mad by his stepmother Hera (Queen of the gods) and made to kill his wife and children (then he had to do 10 (later 12) labors for years to make up for what he did). I can't remember how long it took him to complete his labors, but it might have been 10 years. And some interesting facts I want to mention is that, while in Greek mythology the Greek gods are immortal and cannot die, in Norse mythology they can die (and many are fated to, but I will leave that at that). In this game Kratos was able to kill Ares because he opened Pandora's box, the developers did make changes and take liberties when making this game, but that's ok because they did make a great game franchise (but it's still interesting to look at the differences between mythology and mythology-based projects). Like, how in this game the gods bleed red like everyone else, but in actual mythology (specifically Greek, not Norse) they have gold ichor for blood. Greek and Norse mythology are very interesting to read and look up (they are my personal favorite mythologies), and I would recommend looking at two mythology TH-cam channels if you want to learn more, "The Mythology Guy" and "Jon Solo." Both have talked about different mythology (especially Greek), and I especially like the Mythology Guy because he also does funny skits that are entertaining (at least that's my opinion). I am happy you both are continuing the God of War games; I will look out for your other videos.
Yeah the writers for the new games completely forgot that in GOW 2, Kratos was robbed of his god powers by Zeus and never got them back. Meaning that when he killed Zeus in Gow 3, he was mortal. Heck he was a mortal throughout every game
@@Ashurman666He still had Hades soul.
@@worldofsaiyans1285 True, he did. But that did not make him a god. Besides, at the end of three when he makes that sacrifice to release the power of hope that was inside him, whatever other godly power he had was released as well
@@Ashurman666You don't know where Kratos was between Gow 3 and Gow 4. I have a very hard time believing that the writers don't know what they are doing. Cory barlog wrote the story and directed Gow 2.
@@user-hq6kn5vp2q He wasn't in Greece that's for sure and he never got the Blade Of Olympus back. If that was the case, the new games would have mentioned. The story has so many details that sometimes some details are lost. It's not uncommon for stuff like that to happen, especially in such a long running franchise. Like remember the whole thing with the PS5 Ratchet And Clank game where Rivet has a tail but she's not supposed to have one cause female Lombax are not supposed to have tails? Details like that are lost all the time.
27:50 - This weapon is op. It really can replace the Blades of Chaos. I saw the walkthrough with this sword
I love how the first thing they say when they see Aries is “he’s a ginger?” lol.
Please complete all the god of war series, its worth it.
Still got the wrong order
I'm dead😂
The order is :God of War Ascensio,God of War Chains of Olympus,God of War 1,God of War Ghost of Sparta,God of War 2 ,God of War 3
The person who voices Poseidon is Fred Taitiscore. He has been voice acting for many years he has voice characters such as The hulk Sullivan Grundy gorilla grodd bane and a couple of characters on invincible he even voiced drax and what-if series and many many more
Please react to the in between games that take place between each game of the series to get the full story before moving onto ragnarok because ragnarok has a lot of reference to those in between games as well
LESGOOOO!!!!!
God of War 1 on its own is a very neatly put together tragedy. While yes Ares is dead, Athens is saved and Kratos is now the God of War he is now simultaneously cursed to be haunted by the memories of Lyssandra and Calliope's deaths for the rest of eternity. Despite how brutal he is in the game you genuinely feel bad for him and understand where he is coming from even if you don't condone his actions (which you really shouldn't).
Archra's impression of kartos at the end 😂
Bro she literally said “woah god of war ... ares , wait he’s a ginger !” 😂😂😂😂😂🙈
Yes, I want you guys to check out the entire content, Now its about to happen.
One of the best games ever created.
Also to note, this isn’t a spoiler since it’s only mentioned in the novel for god of war 4 which you’ll probably not read but in the novel which takes place before god of war 4 Atreus talks about him asking kratos about fighting and why he is so closed off and kratos tell Atreus nonchalantly you wouldn’t know because you’ve never lived for centuries meaning kratos is probably thousands of years old in God of war 4. Atreus just thought kratos misspoke when he said that because at that time Atreus didn’t know that kratos was a god.
Yeah Kratos was a demi-god back then but he didn't know it yet. He didn't find out until the end of the 2nd game
That's a lie,he discovered it in ghost of sparta
7:44 that’s what I like to hear. OG Kratos bout that action. 11:29 yes it’s wonderful
OMG YESSS!! You guys cannot understand the new games until you see what happened in the past games.
Don’t let anyone tell you they aren’t all connected lol
from there's no hope to the GOD OF HOPE
8:45 made me chuckle
Yes Nice ❤
just to clarify that the voice actor for the old god of war games(GOW 1,2 and 3 ) is not the same voice actor for the recent GOW games (GOW 2018 and GOW Ragnarok) It may be obvious but just an FYI
7:15 - On this game main head heals theirself and other heads which eyes. Kratos dastroys Hydra's eyes and the main head and after that others head are explodes
LETS GOOO
God of war ascension was before number 1 it is a good one to check out
