The school explosion scene is incredible. Wolverine in this movie is made to look like the classic “Weapon X” version of him from the comics with that headset and everything
It’s funny that the 5 minute scene of Wolverine in this movie does a more accurate job of showing his origin than his actual origin movie! The score was epic, and the story tied nicely at the end. Plus, the closing of this film is the most fitting finale that could have been and that is the hill I'd die on. Those beautiful suits, and the conversation between Charles and Eric with the call back to the seniors, and the last shot closing on the most accurate professor X look of all times! The problem is Infinity war was coming around at the same time and hence nothing seemed satisfactory after all, specially since the last film was DOFP. I'd come back to this film whenever I watch X Men in the future, and I am sure history will be kinder to it. Edited to say: Not every villain needs to be there for 5 movies, and not every story arc needs to be done in 10 movies.

The wolverine scene was actually necessary because it gives context and legitimacy to the new timeline. In days of future past the timeline was reset, in the ending stryker captured Logan to make the weapon x, in the past timeline Logan freed himself after the weapon x experiment succeeded, and that is the one that appeared in xmen origins. In this timeline it was the x men who freed Logan, and that is how this new timeline is legitimized.
"This scene was needed to explain stuff that happens in other movies" is exactly the reason why this scene was NOT needed. Wolverine had nothing to do with this movie, therefore, he shouldn't have been there. Easy.

People think we're so far removed from our ancestors but we're literally the same creatures. We're still just as greedy, just as lustful, just as evil and ruthless as ever. And we still do the same silly things, like praying to false gods and idols. Look at concerts, look at awards ceremonies, look at fan expos and meet and greets and tell me that people don't worship celebrities as though they're gods and somehow above the rest of us. If someone showed up and started displaying extreme power, people would form a cult immediately.
Jean doesn't have multiple personalities. In this timeline, he hasn't put up those blocks because of the changes were made when Wolverine went back in time. Also, that isn't the Phoenix. That is just her power. It just happens to resemble a phoenix
@@supermanfan3113it does make sense. The Phoenix force exists connected to the whole universe. Jean tapped into it and that's why it came for her in the next movie because it wanted to merge
It’s weird because the Phoenix done for ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ was not the cosmic Phoenix force they did for the next movie. That was just a name that Jean’s split personality chose for itself and it was Jean’s own power. If the characters in this and the previous prequels become the characters in the first three X-Men films but in this new timeline, then Phoenix should still be a split personality of Jean’s. Not the cosmic Phoenix force that they retcon it into. That’s what always confused me about the timeline(s) in these movies. All the damn retcon-ing.
I wouldn’t have minded a version of the first movies that followed, at least loosely, the animated series, where Logan found Jubilee hitchhiking instead of Rogue and Rogue already had the powers she took from Ms. Marvel. 8:43, Moira McTaggart here is actually a mutant as well. However, her mutation doesn't show up as one. Moira's power takes the form of resurrection and reincarnation. Whenever she dies her psyche travels back in time to the moment of her birth with all of her prior memories intact. Using these old memories she can create a new life and do things different and create a new timeline. Across her many lives, Moira has been an assassin for SHIELD, a genetic scientist, Professor Xavier's baby mama and the bride of Apocalypse. In one lifetime she met with Xavier and Magneto and put together plans that would lead to a mutant homeland.
Hate to be that guy but this movie came out before she was retconned to be a mutant. I do hope in the next iteration of movie x-men they acknowledge that though.
That's unfortunate because there's something meaningful about the mutants actually having a human ally in the films- kind of the whole point of what they're fighting for.
I really feel bad for Olivia Munn as Psylocke in this movie. Olivia proved in The Newsroom that she is a good actress, and she’s a massive fan of the character from the comics, but instead they did to her what they ironically did with Mystique in the first 3 movies, make her eye candy they does a couple of cool things then disappears, only in this case never to be seen again.
Made her eye candy, like Mystique? With the exception of Mystique walking out of Cerebro, most people have never looked at her as eye candy in that way (that I know). One of the biggest complaints about the original movies for X men fans is how Mystique is in them too much, so I don't know where you're getting that from. As to Psylocke, she's always been eye candy, that's how she looks in the comics. I thought they did a good job representing her, she fought really well, and she was able to momentarily halt Apocalypse. They only made one more TEAM Xmen film, so they only squandered one opportunity. She is a lesser known X-Men from the blue team. Don't get me wrong, I like her, and I wouldn't mind seeing her in other movies, but her characterization was on point. Besides, there are a ton of other characters that they have not represented or slighted.
@@jlhanlon1980I have never once heard anyone complain abt Mystique being in the first 3 too much. You seem to have it flipped with the times Jennifer Lawrence played the character, with her movies ppl thought she was in them too much. If anything ppl wanted her to be like Mystique in the og 3.
3:21 - Don't know if you guys ever watched the 80s teen film, "The Breakfast Club", but this teacher in this scene is actress Ally Sheedy who was one of the stars in that film, and one of the famous "Brat Pack" in those days (which actors like Robert Downey Jr., Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez, and Charlie Sheen were members of). If you've never watched The Breakfast Club, it is a great classic film, and worth the watch! Loads of fun! :)
Apocalypse was briefly teased in a post-credits scene from the previous film. The actress playing Jean in this had a starring role in Game of Thrones. Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are the twin children of Magneto
actually, the 2014 AXIS crossover retconned the Wanda's parentage again, revealing Magneto is not biologically Scarlett Witch's father, contrary to that relationship's place in the canon for 32 years.
By the way, Achara and Kristen, the actor who plays Apocalypse is actor Oscar Isaac who also plays Poe Dameron in Star Wars: Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. But he also stars in a really great Sci-Fi film titled, "Ex-Machina" (2014).
Not true, but he does behave differently. Also, I’ve seen several reactions where, due to Calliban referring to himself in the third person, the reactor thinks he’s referring to someone else named “Calliban” that we never see. Popcorn in Bed just released one where that happens.
Essex Corp (from the end credit scene) is run by Mr Sinister who played a big role in the X-Men 97 series recently and is a great villain with a deep history in the comics.
Last movie Wolverine was tossed in the river, military caught him, gave him his claws, locked him up, In this movie Jean finds him, give back some of his memories and creates that weird connection between them we see in the first movies, it all connects....maybe they should watch movies everyday, they can upload whenever ofc, but they should just marathon these because they seem to forget everything, lol
And the reason for the film people behind the film to happen to cast an ex well-known actor from the 80's pay fan-service to film watchers of that decade,.ha?. Three for three miss!.
Re-watching this film really made me appreciate it a lot more. I always noticed its strengths, but now, I can overlook its flaws (mainly, pacing issues, boombasting third act and cramming way too many tie-ins in one movie). I really wish they continued with a proper trilogy to let things bring and settle.
I remember having fun with this movie in theaters! Not one of the best X-Men movies, but it’s the most “superhero movie” like if that makes any sense. And this Quicksilver scene is even better than the last one!
Nightcrawler's parents used to be Mystique and Azazel but this had been changed. As of 2023 Nightcrawler's birth origin is that Mystique became male in order to have a child with Irene Adler (Destiny). Also, another change is that Magneto is no longer the father of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The Essex reference is NOT about Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels. Psylocke and Angel were members of the X-Men. Angel was one of the original 5 members in the comics, along with Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Beast, and Iceman. Psylocke was a team member later. She has powers similar to Jean's but after a series of events she developed an ability to make weapons made from psionic energy.
The briefcase wasn't a reference to Trask from the last movie it was a reference to a different evil mutant who they've yet to introduce and probably won't ever introduce
magneto was literally trying to wipe out a fleet of ships and moira was trying to stop him. I mean sure, it wad self defence on magneto's part but so was moira/the military. The fact that charles legs were collateral to all that is what makes it all so tragic. Everyone and no one was at fault there lmao
Right? Charles decided to be pissy with Erik but they both F'ed it up. Moira more so, though, she should've stopped shooting once it became clear it wasn't going to do jack shit. The true "she started it."
19:41, To a certain extent Apocalypse thinks of all the other mutants has his children. So he can be a bit heavy handed in what he thinks they should do. I wish the producers had taken a page from the Avengers movie and made him taller (like Thanos is shown to be). Normally Apocalypse is 7 foot tall or more. Oscar Isaac the actor portraying Apocalypse is only 5 foot 9. In the many lives of Moria McTaggart shown there is a distant future in which Apocalypse has been accepted into the mutant fold and he leads the X-Men. He is so respected, beloved and revered by the squad that even Wolverine calls him sir. On a secret mission in this distant future, his tremendously long life finally ends fighting off three Nimrod class Sentinels by himself to allow the other X-Men escape. The squad is upset to see him go but in the comics Apocalypse had already said "I've already lived forever. But if forever comes to an end let me fall in battle surrounded by my defeated enemies and my sword wet"
Quiksilver being magneto son is not something the movies did. It’s in the comic books. And it’s not the only child magneto has. In the comic books magneto had three children, the twins,Pietro Maximoff, a.k.a. Quicksilver Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet witch. And their half sister Lorna Dane a.k.a. Polaris..

16:30 Great homage to Star Trek TOS episode "who mourns for Adonias?" Obvious inspiration for Apocalypses character with one important distinction .....

An important Marvel fact:- Ramatut and El sabahnur are arch rivals I don't know if Marvel will touch this relationship at all. These are not some random characters they're very important ones
The "I'm your son" thing could've worked I feel. Magneto loses his family, goes on a rampage, finds out he still has family, chills out, that's an arc. You could even play it off funny with Quicksilver where it's awkward. And obviously your daughter just died, and your dad is a mutant terrorist, it's gonna be awkward and not immediate hugs and opening up. But it'd have been a good nudge for Magneto to remind him that life has more in store for him. We could've had a whole flashback for Quicksilver's backstory and build the story around this concept of family. But we just did the bare minimum of casually mentioning it and then chickening out from the pay-off.
46:58 Psylocke is another telepathic mutant also with psionic powers. She can summon weapons thru her hands. But I believe her part was cut down in this movie because Olivia Munn's performance probably wasn't great.
14:56 ironically both Ancient Egyptian and Egyptian Arabic are distantly related belong to two branches of the Afroasiatic language family. Though obviously nobody has heard what Ancient Egyptian sounds like because its writing only had consonants, no vowels, which is why the language in the film is merely an approximation.
The logan scene incorporates the weapon X aesthetic and dynamic from the comics so it's a bit of fan service there but because days of future past left wolverines history altered, it was cool to find out that the weapon X program still went ahead, Stryker was still involved and logan still had adamantium grafted to his skeleton.
Psylocke was underutilized. Striker being in this was jsut kind of a whole plot detour, I never liked that either, it was jsut a setup to see Wolverine kick ass, meet the kids, and then dip. His cameo in First Class was short but so much more memorable! Also, they pretty much killed Angel/Archangel. Warren's still alive in the comics, and he's even got his organic wings back at some point, I think. Having him be some drunken pretty boy who cage fights as a captured mutant .... my nitpicks for this movie could go on, but it has its moments, Fassbender's and McAvoy's acting being the highlights. Also, I will always love Nightcrawler and Beast.
Kristen and Achara, in the early 90s there was a comic book called Legion , about a character, they made a tv show about him on FX, and in that comic book, he went crazy and went back in time and killed his father. so if his father died before he could form the Xmen, they never fought and defeated Apocalypse, so for a year in marvel comics, all comic books were cancelled, and they just did comic books from an alternate dimension, where the Xmen never existed and Apocalypse had taken over, it was called, the AGE OF APOCALYPSE.
I remember getting an X-Men annual in the early 80s which had Havoc in the storyline. Apparently Havok had been around from the late 60s but could not tell you if he appeared often.
The way Achara was predicting everything a second before it was happening...we all knew she had seen the movie before. But she should have controlled her predictions. It spoiled the already bad movie for me..and for many other viewers.
Quicksilver being Magneto's son is not a "move" in this movie, Kristen. He's his son in the comics all along. Along with his sister, Magneto's daughter, Wanda. Yes, that Wanda, the Scarlet Witch.
It has a few flaws, but this one is a much better movie than a lot of people give it credit for. First Class, Days Of Future Past, and Apocalypse are a pretty solid trilogy.
43:39 - How it can be connected to the PREVIOUS movie (this one was in 80's, DoFP was from the 70's)? And actually, it hasn't been connected to anything, it wasn't even resolved properly 'cause we got no Mr.Sinister in "Logan", so this end credits scene gone nowhere. Just like the Fox-Men overal.
8:10 - 8:25 It's also worth noting that during the X-Men Apocalypse shooting, Rose Byrne, the actress playing Moira McTaggart here is pregnant with her first child. Impressive that they were able to hide the baby bump
Bryan Singer should've left the franchise after DOFP Because since he already gave everything he had with DOFP, it was a lot harder for him to outdo himself again
The short sentinal guy is called Bolivar Trask. Essex corp isn't anythibg to do with him, its a company owned by a different X-Men villain called Mister Sinister, who is famous for making clones, hence why he wants the blood of mutants.
This movie shows why all the X-Men movies went downhill after DOFP Mystique’s last words in First Class were “mutant and proud” yet she is almost never in her true blue mutant form, and she should never be thought of as a hero, she’s an unpredictable antihero at best. The real reason for all of this is because Jennifer Lawrence became such a superstar and Fox wanted to capitalize on that popularity by making Mystique into a hero loved by everyone. They also made the mistake of jumping another 10 years because all the characters from First Class should be in their late 40’s or early 50’s yet they all look, sound and act like they’re in their 20’s or 30’s. And finally Apocalypse was very badly mishandled. They never acknowledge the fact that he uses alien technology to enhance himself even after they show all of the Celestial technology in the beginning, including his armor. And Oscar Issac barely gets enough screen time to properly flesh out one of the greatest villains in comic history.
@@RyansChannel0203 what part of any of it is wrong? I mean Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Holt said in interviews that they didn’t want to sit through hours of makeup so they convinced the director to let them look normal. @@thedarkknight2221 Did you even watch the film? Lol, regardless of what they said in interviews, the whole point of Mystique's character (and Beast to a certain extent) in this film was that she's been hiding her mutant form for years just so she doesn't get seen and recognized for what she did in DOFP, and the film does a great job showcasing that as well as her growth as she eventually comes to accept who she is towards the end regardless of what she's done before.

They where attacked while living in Eastern Europe,.Magda was killed and Eric believed his children had died as well only to be reunited later after the.twins had grown up.
He also has another daughter Lorna Dane(aka Polaris) from a later affair with a woman named Suzzane.Dane when he was living in America. she does not know he is her father till she is a adult after she had already been a student of Professor Xavier. Lorna has similar powers to her father and Interestingly she has been in a on and off again relationship with Alex Summers in the comics since they where teenage members of the team X-Factor . The film's switched Scott(Cyclops) and Alex's birth order. In the comics Cyclops is the oldest of the three Summers brothers. they have a younger brother Gabriel aka Vulcan who was born in the Shiar empire after their Parents where abducted by aliens(yes the summer's family have one isn't he weirder backstroke in comics) . Their father Christopher Summers becomes a Space Pirate leading a crew called the Star Jammers
Wanda and Peter are not Erik's kids in the current comic continuity.
Also Scott has a fourth half brother, Adam X.

Holy crap, you just unlocked my memory of Alex being the younger one. Okay so it's been like 30 years since I read the comics properly, sue me.
This movie holds a special place in my heart because my friend's daughter (T.J. McGibbon) has a small role as Magneto's daughter. She also played young Vanya in the Umbrella Academy.
In comics, Moira is a past love interest, and still friend of Charles...but...she's a genius scientist. That specialized in mutant genetics. Not just another secret agent.
And EssexCorp is not "the little guy from the last film"( *Bolivar Trask,* deftly played by Peter Dinklage)..lol
A villain who usually prefers to act through agents and manipulation, *Mr. Sinister* was born *Nathaniel Essex* in Victorian London.
A human scientist, Essex is inspired by the work of his contemporary Charles Darwin, predicts the rise of mutants, and becomes obsessed with engineering humanity into a perfect race of superhumans.
He also gave himself powers.
Mister Sinister can manipulate his powerful psionic energy in various ways, including *telepathy and telekinesis.* However, one of the most devastating uses of this energy comes in the form of powerful concussive blasts that he generates from his hands.

Don’t waste your time explaining to Kristen. Shes so insufferable here with the Moira bashing lol
And she doesn’t see reason. Lol
Understand what you're saying but the scene still feels out of place
"This scene was needed to explain stuff that happens in other movies" is exactly the reason why this scene was NOT needed. Wolverine had nothing to do with this movie, therefore, he shouldn't have been there. Easy.
@@ninipookie "She is so insufferable with Moira's bashing" as you are bashing someone too, uh. Movie was pretty decent, maybe even good. But most people would agree that scene was stunted at best...
Oh sweet Achara, what on *earth* makes you think we wouldn't worship such a powerful person like that today either? People think we're so far removed from our ancestors but we're literally the same creatures. We're still just as greedy, just as lustful, just as evil and ruthless as ever. And we still do the same silly things, like praying to false gods and idols. Look at concerts, look at awards ceremonies, look at fan expos and meet and greets and tell me that people don't worship celebrities as though they're gods and somehow above the rest of us.
If someone showed up and started displaying extreme power, people would form a cult immediately.
Best Cameos of Stan Lee & Wolverine in my opinion. Also that is Stan Lee's wife Joan.
Jean doesn't have multiple personalities. In this timeline, he hasn't put up those blocks because of the changes were made when Wolverine went back in time. Also, that isn't the Phoenix. That is just her power. It just happens to resemble a phoenix
It makes no sense though.
@@supermanfan3113it does make sense. The Phoenix force exists connected to the whole universe. Jean tapped into it and that's why it came for her in the next movie because it wanted to merge
@@trevor3013 Exactly 🙌
It’s weird because the Phoenix done for ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ was not the cosmic Phoenix force they did for the next movie. That was just a name that Jean’s split personality chose for itself and it was Jean’s own power. If the characters in this and the previous prequels become the characters in the first three X-Men films but in this new timeline, then Phoenix should still be a split personality of Jean’s. Not the cosmic Phoenix force that they retcon it into.
That’s what always confused me about the timeline(s) in these movies. All the damn retcon-ing.
Quick Silver (and his sister Wanda) are Magneto's kids in the comics. That's entirely the reason for bringing it in.

Fascinating.
Hate to be that guy but this movie came out before she was retconned to be a mutant. I do hope in the next iteration of movie x-men they acknowledge that though.
You’re right, but Moira being a mutant is a recent retcon. Before Krakoa, she wasn’t a mutant.
@@CharathlieYeah I know
That's unfortunate because there's something meaningful about the mutants actually having a human ally in the films- kind of the whole point of what they're fighting for.

This one gets a lot of hate from fans, but I actually enjoy it quite a bit (Apocalypse’s look aside, as I do feel that aspect was a big let down).
Erick storyline, Apocalypse’s weapons speech, and Quicksilver saving the X-men are shining points in the film.
Jean in the final moments becoming the Pheonix and killing Apocalypse was epic to me
I remember having fun with this movie in theaters!
Besides in X-Men 97 of course! 🥲
magneto was literally trying to wipe out a fleet of ships and moira was trying to stop him. I mean sure, it wad self defence on magneto's part but so was moira/the military.
Polaris..
They did do it in this when quicksilver said magneto was his father when he was locked up with the others
I just realized Mystique's armor in the end resembles her comic book costume, which is a white halter-neck dress. LOL.
also, Wolverine was the Horsemen of Death for apocalypse in the comics

I think that would've really helped Magneto. I was bummed they didn't use it.
I'm still pissed they never followed through on that 😩 Guess that's why we have fanfiction, I've read quite a few good ones that have the reveal 😁👌

Mystique’s last words in First Class were “mutant and proud” yet she is almost never in her true blue mutant form, and she should never be thought of as a hero, she’s an unpredictable antihero at best.
She doesn’t know the comics. She is just watching the movies.
@@ninipookie Of course. I’m aware, and that’s fine. I’m just pointing out that everything that she isn’t liking about the movie are just things that are 100% accurate from the comics. The movie wouldn’t make sense without those things, because they are the direct source material.
And have the nerve to complain about movies not following the source material. You and others like you are the reasons why movies change adapting from the original story because too many of you expect realism from movies based off of comics where the reader goes in expecting the ultimate in non realistic situations. We don't question the absurdity we expect it because it's fantasy
Eh just because it's in the comics doesn't mean it works for the movie
So Alex is not the father, but Scott's brother 😂
Well he was always the brother, but in the comics he was the younger of the two
@@GeorgeKittiras I was fooling with them, cus they talked about how Scott must be Alex' son in the other movies
Magneto is quick silver's father in the comics Kristen, quick silver and scarlet witch are his kids
23:46 The emotion 😂😂😂
As always .. Kristen has such beautiful hair. Radiant! 🔆
30:52 can’t with till she reacts to “Deadpool & Wolverine”. Think there’s a scene in there she will love a lot. 31:41 this must be why he has an attachment to her when she’s older. She’s “Deja vu” to him. She’s familiar but not sure why. 33:13 if he didn’t hold her like that her head would’ve snapped back at the high speed and killed her. 38:35 a little Nancy vs Freddy here. 45:10 sorry it was Magneto’s fault. That’s why he stopped choking her when Charles told him it wasn’t her fault. Magneto trying to start a war is what started it. If Magneto would’ve listened to Charles and just let the missiles fall into the water then Moira wouldn’t have had to fire her gun 😜. 48:11 the whole Stryker and the base scene was weird cause it didn’t fit with Apocalypse. It seemed like they needed everyone to see Jean and Logan meet to try and tie it into why he’s attracted to her in the future.
43:37 Mister Sinister's organization! 🙏🏽💪
Noticed how Apocalypse never powered up Magneto but just gave him advice and revive his traumas? That means he was able to do that from the very beginning, but he either just never thought or realized he could
My favourite of the franchise.
Lol
It’s nothing top favorite but yeah I like it

If you can enjoy the little things from the X-Men movies
Then you're gonna enjoy DARK PHOENIX
I love the part in Dark Phoenix where they forget that they already introduced the big firebird in Apocalypse.
Dark Phoenix was sh*t. What you talking about?
@@supermanfan3113 It's the little things
Like Hans Zimmer's score
