What did you have in mind for Eli Skipper? That storm Eli stretched all the way up the coast from Eden to Rockhampton!!! Over 1K's long! Here, in Sydney we were really hard hit. Hooray! Hi John, and Eli , thank you for your wonderful videos. I really love the idea as doctors really love, working with people with mental problems, I’m a amputee I lost my right leg above the knee in a workplace accident also got back fusion etc etc , the biggest problem that I can see as I need BT a lot of people get the black dog what we call in Australia suicide and it’s so sad to see that one and three end up committing suicide because I can’t handle losing limbs and unfortunately even that we are part of an association. We still can’t talk about suicide because we’re not qualified. I see you so many people so depressed in the hospital when they first lose their limb. Anyway thank you very much. Lots of love and appreciation and I’m looking forward to 2025 when you get your Portofino 52 Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 I’m on the big island 🏝️ 😊
Hi Cliff, thanks for the background info and I am not sure who says "you can't talk about suicide because you are not qualified". This is absolutely not the case and the research shows that people with "lived experience" (someone that has had depression or suicidal thoughts) are the best people to start conversations with sufferers because they know how it feels... In the "TUFMINDS app" (the old "TUFMINDS" version does not work now) there is a module (Module 3) that specifically talks about how to talk to someone that is down or suicidal. There is also a Suicide crisis module that they can watch (to stop them taking action) and to understand that there is a way out. If you are with the association and want more info on how to handle anyone suffering feel free to email me for more info - jmcintsh@tpg.com.au. The Mental health modules are in the TUFMINDS - Life Rescue section so upload the app (which is getting some glitches worked out but the Life rescue stuff is all there still... @@glynmatthews2156 hi Glyn, we are still in the process of selling the leopard 45 with some interested parties but the fat lady has not sunk quite yet!
Hi Sailing Doctors, I am super happy for you you‘ve made your decision for the color of your new Portofino yacht. It looks beautiful 🤩 and artic blue… I just want to give you the idea to think about if it might be better realized by wrapping the hulls with colored foil - as you choose a metallic color I think it might be probably easier to handle with the coating in case of current problems - otherwise you have to really keep good care not to allow contact between the aluminum structure and hulls directly to the color. Especially under water and in Harbour you can easily have current challenges with the aluminum. As far as I mean to know this is the reason why Aluminium Boatbuilder like Garcia Yachts use metallic foil instead of metallic color. Otherwise you might better find a kind of isolating primer color before the finishing beautiful arctic metallic paint. Please bare in mind 😉. Whishing you good decisions and a wonderful and exciting 2025. Dietmar
Hi Dietmar, thanks for the comment and while the paint is called metallic my understanding is that there is no metal that communicates outside the two pack in the paint to ever cause any trouble with the aluminium. On the other hand copper coat cannot be used because it is designed to have the copper directly release into the water so needs to be avoided. I will doublecheck though with the Safty of the metallic paint on the aluminium. Thanks very much for the comment.
Cheers guys. Gunboat 68, "Tosca" has a similar colour as you've chosen. Thez a few short YT videos of Tosca if you want to check out the sexy colour. Gunboat "Break Free" also. Yummy

@@allypaul7310 There is an old version called just “TUFMINDS” which is inactive but the one that should work is called “TUFMINDS App” - please let me know if this one does not work as there are some upgrades being done… I am also thinking about putting the main modules on YouRube too…
Congratulations Guy on the boat ⛵ but I don't think it is a good idea to paint an aluminium expédition boat, you may regret it as the repair are very expensive on it, aluminium mixed with sea water and time does not like the paint that much. But as you will say we will wait and see hopefully you will have more luck than I had.
Thanks for the info and interestingly even the Peter's Odisea 48 is being painted because (presumably) the hulls were not smooth enough because of the welding heat causing bending. Absolutely a risk but we will see - many other Garcias are painted and 20 years old with good paint durability. Perhaps ensuring no stray current will help - I don;t know so will just wait and see and live in hope!!!

@@walterhiegel3020 thanks very much, Walter for your comment and ongoing support. We are very much looking forward to getting the boat in our hands and seeing how it performs!
Have you had a “day head” installed on the new boat?
I presume you mean a communal toilet - no there are one toilet in each cabin and one in the starboard bow (crew berth) so that should be enough!
Love all your youbytubies even the lapert island.
Nice home and Nice collor for your vat.
Are you going to protecting It perhaps whit ppf clear coat folie? It would protect a lot more Your bieutyfull paint, not?
Have a great day and match love ❤
@@davidveraart5660 thanks David for your comment and your support. The paint will have a layer of lacquer on the outside of it to protect it from the elements. But when we are shipping it, it will get a plastic wrapping covering the whole boat. Is that what you were concerned about?
Love the colour, it will look very classy. Does this mean that you have now sold the Leopard 45?
@@glynmatthews2156 hi Glyn, we are still in the process of selling the leopard 45 with some interested parties but the fat lady has not sunk quite yet!
Would love to meet you in Cannes.

Yummy

After la vagabond issues would it reasonable to fit led strip lighting to the mast
@@CraigDavidson-c4n hi Craig, yes it is always hard to know how far to go to protect against other people‘s incompetence but extra lighting that makes the boat more visible at different levels will certainly help.

Just to let you know - your Tuf Minds App doesn't work on newer Android phones- a message pops up saying not available.
Is this something you could fix? I would love the App if possible.
Thanks for the joy, cant wait to see the pretty new boat. :)
@@allypaul7310 There is an old version called just “TUFMINDS” which is inactive but the one that should work is called “TUFMINDS App” - please let me know if this one does not work as there are some upgrades being done… I am also thinking about putting the main modules on YouRube too…
Happy New Year to you both, if I was a big asshole to you last year I will try to be a bigger one this year . . . cheers big ears.

when will the porto fino be complete?
@@Capitalist_Pig314 March or April we expect and then there might be a 3 to 4 week delay if freight is required to the Mediterranean.
Need help on the Atlantic crossing?
@@limericcntelosnet Hi Crystal, we certainly will be having some extra crew on board for the Atlantic Crossing but haven’t yet worked out who will be with us at that time. Were you looking to do an Atlantic crossing?
@barefootdoctorssailing8567 Whatever I can do to help.
It comes across in the edit rather misleadingly that you are crossing the equator on the way to the Caribbean. I’m sure that’s not what you meant!
Thanks Tomas, No Eli was a bit confused as we discussed the different tattoos but she did clarify that doing the North Atlantic crossing she would not get the Green Turtleback as we would not be crossing the equator... Certainly not deliberate - just crossed discussion and temporary confusion!
ARRRRHHHH, beging a retirered surgeon and former chef before that as well myself, i was really frightened. In Germany, your ( mandatory job healthcare) would not pay, out when they get to know, how you did it. Not even, when the knife would have a rounded tip. The trick is quite famous here as well, but for two reasons. Good luck, not just on the boat!!!
@@Salzbuckel Peehaps our knives are not too sharp to get through the Mango skin!
Not so if you are sailing with Colin from Parlay....
He got his friend to do a pelican tattoo for sailing 5000nm 😂😂
Of course we can all do what we want - but no- one will know the meaning.
Tattoos didn't look good 40yrs ago, and they still don't look good. If you want to be different, don't get one.
So we are the unique anarchists now - because we DON'T have Tatts! Nice!!!
