I've lived in Kansas city all my life... but mainly Northside went south for a couple years but went back to north side. Side note liberty is a really nice city and school district. And pleasant valley. I miss living there.

I lived off 87th and Hillcrest rd and stoneheaven south I think it's called Hillcrest south now... first day I moved there I had a person come up to me with a bullet hole through his shoulder and had to call an ambulance it was over a drug deal gone bad and that person later got evicted of course. Like I said most my family is from liberty area/ pleasant valley area. Me and my wife and kids are looking for a new apartment or house to rent in that area like north or Gladstone or liberty

Theres still crime but not as much i remember when i was younger my moms mini mart she worked at in liberty arcross from codys they were trying to rob/steal my mom being my mothwr said if u put it back ill let you go well they took off so my mother ran after them they tried to run her down with there car my mom jumped on the hood and shouting out the license plate and they ended up catching them. @johnkessler9878
Having lived in KC most of my life "south of the river" on the KS side, i was really shocked to hear that that there are ppl that don't even go south of the river at all.
Im from Lenexa but I was renting in Raytown the last 2 years to save money but after a drive by in march I decided to eat the higher rent payments and move back to ks and its insane how much less stressed I feel. No more crack heads yelling in front of my house or loud subwoofers and loud exhausts at all hours
I grew up in blue springs mo . Yet ive lived in Op ks and olathe, Indp. Mo and here i am back in blue springs. I will say crime is bad anywhere now. growing up Blue springs was considered the nicer end/safer option. Not so much now we have crime daily .. Daily break in's .. Shootings.. Cars being stolen a lot. So it's everywhere you go. Best option is the option you took which is to realize it's anywhere you go but learn self defense. I have a brother who bought a house few years back in gladstone and begs for me to move there weekly. Yet he's constantly driving south when we go to do things on the weekends with our kids because there's much more to do.
i gre up in bs and when i could move, i moved out to northeast. i just moved back out this way to gv. its literally everywhere. its getting back east of kc.
honestly this is sad :( i just found your channel last night. i think youtubes algorithym recommended your video because they knew i had contacted a realtor to list my house in south kc redbridge area. anyways i watched a video you had posted 7 months ago(which would have been jan or feb and this video says posted in may). the video just a few months ago you were talking about how you loved where you were and hadnt had any issues. again its just so sad to see what our city is becoming/has become. i bought my house in 2017 and just cant do it anymore. i too loved living here for many years for most of the reasons you mentioned but at this point its just embarrassing. i had a friend come visit from my hometown of columbia MO this past weekend and i felt the need to clean out my garage so she could park her car inside because we have a group of armed criminals going around our area every single night bulgalarizing cars and terrorizing our neighborhood, and as you pointed out you call 911 and cant even get through..its so insane! the other thing, and i dont know if you touched on it or not but our city is being overrun with homeless camps. there are at least 4 massive ones within walking distance of my house, and with that comes so much litter and petty theft(packages, bicycles etc.). again sad and embarrassing. i understand your a man of faith and i am as well and hope god starts working here, but there's a difference between being homeless and being a bum. the bums have no respect and have to be hurting our property value. and to me the saddest part is its because of our woke city "leaders" and policies..i know this because i live 2 exits from the state line and litterally as soon as you cross the state line everything changes, its like night and day. anybody thinking about moving to kansas city do yourself a favor and stay out of jackson county. edit and for anybody reading just to give some perspective I paid 175k in 2017 and they valued it at 325k on my last property tax valuation, so its not like I'm in the hood..it still is a nice quiet family style home neighborhood. you just never know when the criminals will come into it

In our area, we had a person driving around, shooting into front doors. We got two rounds through our door. 10mm. Police told us not to worry, just no big thing.

You should think of Kansas City in terms of neighborhoods instead of areas. Olathe has some rough neighborhoods, North Johnson county has some rough neighborhoods, while western Wyandotte country has some nice neighborhoods out by the Nascar track. Kansas City is all about neighborhoods.
I had to learn the same thing coming from Dallas. The vibe literally changes from block to block in Kansas City vs in Dallas where each separate area has its own culture and can be several square miles
I watched you video, I'm in kansas City, and I've been here 36 years. Please do some research on even what cops tell you. They are very often full of it. the glock switch doesn't make your glock full auto anymore than a Franklin armory binary trigger makes your AR full auto. it just modify the trigger to fire round when you pull and another when you let off. Their both made by Franklin armory. Not full auto, also I got several semi auto guns I can unload very quickly due to a short light trigger and a short reset. Next time you're at the gun store, dry fire a cz shadow or staccatto. BTW, a real full auto will empty a 30-round magazine in less than 1/2 a second. 750 rounds a minute is on the slow side for full auto.
I lived in Overland Park, a cop pulled over a car and the guy shot at the cop. A neighbor had stuff stolen out of his car. I did go out of town for a week and left my back door open, no problems. But that’s my entire list over thirty plus years.

Work brought me here last year and everybody from my branch in KC told me to try and buy North of the river, I bought a house in Liberty, best decision I could of made considering 99% of shootings I see on the local news happen to be south of the river in between good and bad areas that are side by side with one another. Good to hear you are prepared to protect your family, be safe.

I’m renting in Johnson County close to 135th and Antioch and it’s the safest I’ve felt in the KC area. My family moved to the KC area Dec of 2021 and have lived in Raymore, Northland near the Zona Rosa NW Barry road area and now Overland Park. Overland Park is by far my favorite area to live. OP is a big area though so I’m sure there are some rougher areas within OP.
@@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWongI never heard any gunshots in Raymore and felt reasonably safe. I’d say it’s not a bad area but at the same time not super safe either. Just middle of the road safe. I have a Son who is about to start school and we wanted to get him into a great school district. The Blue Valley school district is known to be great so that’s why we are now in Overland Park. I love it here.
I live in Raymore. Raised just south of here in Peculiar. Raymore is growing exponentially & has really great neighborhoods. Even the "older" neighborhoods are still kept up well.

Johnson County is definitely the most safe part of KC. This was also the first time I’ve heard that you shouldn’t live south of the river lol. I guess it would apply more for the MO side than KS, but south suburbs on the KS side are very safe.
Yes, that's totally true! South of the river is sketchy only on the Missouri side. In fact, it's almost the opposite with the Kansas side. People say Wyandotte has a higher crime rate than JoCo, which makes north of the river a little worse.
I guess I live in a high crime area but have great neighbors. What the name of the general area you live? Come visit us in Marlborough we have a great community and neighborhood meeting.

Congratulations on your new baby! I used to live in the area between the Plaza and Westport about 25 years ago and that area always seemed pretty safe. Prior to that we lived in NE Kansas City and that was *not* really safe. Now I live in Roeland Park, which is probably the safest place I have ever lived. I even feel safer on the streets of Roeland Park than I do in my home country, England. Yet only a few miles north is Kansas City, Kansas, with an astronomical crime rate. The area in NE Johnson County (Roeland Park, Mission, etc.) is as safe as you will find anywhere, has excellent schools, and, unlike the rest of Johnson County, is still affordable. I recommend NE Johnson County for anyone of moderate means who is planning to move to the Kansas City area, especially if they have school-aged children. For people who don't have to worry about schools then there are still good places south of the river on the Missouri side and it's one of the few places in the western world where you still might find a bargain property.

@@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong As a history nerd and a person who grew up in a big city, I think that there are a lot of positive things about KCMO as a place to live for a single person. If you have children, I think it's still fine but only if you can find a safe area with a good school. Maybe the Brookside or Waldo area would be doable. If you have kids then I think you should avoid any place where you feel the need to be armed. The greatest danger is not crime or accidents: two thirds of US gun deaths are suicides. You can never know when a family member might develop a serious mental illness and I think that guns are a ticking time bomb in that respect. You might get hit by a stray gangster bullet if you are very unlucky but the bullets that we fire ourselves are the ones that take the heaviest toll. Also, there is an additional daily stress of living in a high-crime area. In 1993, we lived in NE Kansas City for just over a year and we got raided by a SWAT team in the middle of the night once. They had the wrong address. You don't really need those kinds of worries in your life if you can avoid them. So, for anyone with kids, I would definitely recommend Johnson County over KCMO. But that's just a general rule. We would probably have stayed in KCMO but for our youngest son being disabled and needing additional help that the KCMO school district didn't seem to be ready to provide. But that was 25 years ago. . .

ive lived in northeast kansas city for almost 35 years, i would never move because ,our block our neighbors, i would never trade all my neighbors, we watch out for each other, we are family....we are all strapped, if anyones house gets broken into, car gets broken into.....we all fight for each others households and children....were family regardless of background race etc....all of my neighbors are christian second generation hispanics, we have cookouts, go fishing together garden together....were family...
I admire your service to the Lord! But for the safety of your family, you got to get out of there. I can't imagine living in that neighborhood, let alone raising kids there! Yes we trust God for protection, but we still have to be logical about our decisions.
@@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong it actually surprised me. They used a handgun. I’m originally from north Florida. People shoot into the air there for every occasion but it’s usually shotguns or occasionally rifles. (I also couldn’t believe someone tried to shoot a deer in a populated area)

I have frequently seen deer there and on my apartment grounds. I’ve occasionally seen foxes and coyote as well. It’s not downtown but definitely a suburban area. Not too safe for hunting.
My aunt lives in Independence, south of the river. It's ok. My cousins, her kids, live in Riverside, north of the river. Very nice! If you're from LA, Riverside is like Palos Verdes
Yeah, I sold a few properties in Riverside. The only downside is that it's a pretty low point in KC, and there are a lot of flood plains there. You have to watch out for that while buying or selling.

Whatever realtor told you to not go south of the Missouri River has no idea what they're talking about. If you want to live in a bubble, move to the suburbs.

Have a friend bought a home in Blue HIlls a couple years ago. He had his home burglarized within a year of moving in and also his home insurance rates doubled after that. He didn't even report the burglary to insurance, only KCPD.

It's a pretty sweet house at 59th and Blue Hills, nice neighbors and the houses are well kept on the block but like you he's tiring of the automatic gunfire popping off and also the loud cars racing down Paseo. Depending on your proximity to Paseo, you may or may not hear the cars he speaks of. Like I said, he's sticking it out for now but hopefully things change for the better soon. The area really does have potential, I'm just worried it may not be realized for a decade or more.
@@ejreif We are far enough away from Paseo that we don't hear that traffc. However, we do have people driving crazy on Woodland. We hear them quite often there.
Feel bad that you’ve gotten such bad advice. North of the river is the least diverse part of KC and that’s the nice way to put it. Brookside is just two blocks from a horrible part of town. Lees summit is the gem of the KC metro. More parks, restaurants and lakes than anywhere else. You should check it out. ✌🏻
Yes, I have helped multiple clients move into Lee's Summit! That would be a little far from our church, but I find myself recommending Lee's Summit to a lot of people moving here. In fact, there is a client of mine who is going to purchase a home there in the next 20 days.

Most violence are fueled by drugs, gang rivalry and stupid people beefing with each other. As long as you don't attract attention to yourself then you should be fine. Kansas city is still somewhat stabilized with crime ratio getting out of hand as compared to many other larger metropolitan cities statewide. Kansas city, Missouri got a *Stand Your Ground Law* which makes it tougher for criminals to really want to push their luck with strangers.
Yes, we aren't involved in any illegal actvities. We don't bother our neighbors and we try to be as welcoming and friendly as we can. However, the cops were saying with this incident that if the criminals got the wrong address or shot out the wrong side of the road, we could be injured. That's the concern.

Stay away from raytown mo and independence mo liberty Missouri is good riverside mo is good and western Wyandotte out by the Kansas speedway in Kansas City ks is good Edwardsville ks and Bonner springs ks is good Johnson county is good if you’re in Overland Park past 95th st Olathe is ok if you’re closer to K7
We do have multiple firearms now. However, moving out South would be tough for us, as I do a lot of stuff in the Northland, and our church/community are near where we live now.
This is now a public service announcement to avoid Kansas City. I owned a home in a city I consider a hell hole but never in over twenty years was there ever anything like this going on even within a mile of the house.
LOL. Avoiding crime is very easy. Don’t live anywhere you have to pay KC Earnings tax. I don’t even like taking jobs in KCMO. It always ends up being a headache. Crime, parking, etc. I’d also avoid WY east of 435. Some of the neighborhoods look ok but you’re hood adjacent. There is also public school problem. KCMO schools are so bad they lost state accreditation at one point. Even if your block is ok, your kids will attend school with inner city kids. Also, the house you buy will be the house you buy today you’ll sell someday. The earnings tax means you’re paying more for worse services and infrastructure. Avoiding the E tax might cost you $300 a month in rent or mortgage and it’s worth the investment. I don’t know that I’d take advice from you if you’re making such obvious mistakes.

Man you need to get out of that part of the city and move to Olathe, Lenexa or OP. SO MUCH BETTER quality of living and way lower crime. I lived in Independence for 6 months and I work downtown 1x per week. I moved to Olathe in March and it’s night and day difference! I don’t feel uneasy just walking around by myself in my neighborhood. Stay safe brotha! Appreciate the videos tho keep um coming!

Well, overall this has been a pleasant place to live. This video is meant to help people move to KC, so of course I mention the bad as well since I want to be honest. FYI, the "melanated" people in our neighborhood have been welcoming and kind, and a huge blessing to our children and family.
This video had soooo many things wrong but also some pretty accurate things that one could say was some pretty insightful knowledge of how Non Native -Kansas Citian 'plants ' think when they decide to move there. Real Estate Agents telling 'plants' to NOT move south of the MO River is as old as racist J.C. Nichols himself, (founder of The Plaza). Kinda reminds A.A. of the male family members who tell them abt their agents not wanting them to wife/date A.A. women after they are received their "permission slip" into the NFL/NBA by draft. As for the crime................ Being that Kansas City has NO DIRECT control over it's police dept, the only mid size city in the nation as of 2024, that prevents the KCPD and local officials from making the necessary changes needed to curve some of the gun violence. Starting with making City Ordinance laws that would be more effective than the current 'Open and Carry w/o a permit" laws that have been passed by the looney ass MO politicians in Jefferson City. Every neighborhood in KCMO experiences some type of crime from shootings, porch pirates taking over Brookside, Meth users on the corners with signs along Waldo, down to the drunks begging outside the gas stations on Paseo & Troost Ave! And when does one who has lived in these "Southern/Eastern" suburbs of KCMO become such experts on the living conditions of the CITY as a whole? Who would go to a podiatrist for a root canal? You said it right, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! As for being closed minded, it could cause you a great living experience outside of what you've always known. But then again one could argue, this train of thought could stop GENTRIFICATION of neighborhoods by incoming 'plants' that is so needed by now. Lastly, I had a good laugh when u said you guys felt unsafe because of all the gun fire. Instead of moving away you said you went to go get strapped up and took gun training. LMAO. If you cant beat them, Join 'Em!!!!!!😄😁🥰🤭

Yeah, quite a few! I’d say there are a surprising amount of people who never leave the Northland.

Yes, that's the sentiment a lot of people share. We felt safe in Gladstone, but we love it where we live so much more.

honestly this is sad :( i just found your channel last night. i think youtubes algorithym recommended your video because they knew i had contacted a realtor to list my house in south kc redbridge area. anyways i watched a video you had posted 7 months ago(which would have been jan or feb and this video says posted in may). the video just a few months ago you were talking about how you loved where you were and hadnt had any issues. again its just so sad to see what our city is becoming/has become. i bought my house in 2017 and just cant do it anymore. i too loved living here for many years for most of the reasons you mentioned but at this point its just embarrassing. i had a friend come visit from my hometown of columbia MO this past weekend and i felt the need to clean out my garage so she could park her car inside because we have a group of armed criminals going around our area every single night bulgalarizing cars and terrorizing our neighborhood, and as you pointed out you call 911 and cant even get through..its so insane! the other thing, and i dont know if you touched on it or not but our city is being overrun with homeless camps. there are at least 4 massive ones within walking distance of my house, and with that comes so much litter and petty theft(packages, bicycles etc.). again sad and embarrassing. i understand your a man of faith and i am as well and hope god starts working here, but there's a difference between being homeless and being a bum. the bums have no respect and have to be hurting our property value. and to me the saddest part is its because of our woke city "leaders" and policies..i know this because i live 2 exits from the state line and litterally as soon as you cross the state line everything changes, its like night and day. anybody thinking about moving to kansas city do yourself a favor and stay out of jackson county. edit and for anybody reading just to give some perspective I paid 175k in 2017 and they valued it at 325k on my last property tax valuation, so its not like I'm in the hood..it still is a nice quiet family style home neighborhood. you just never know when the criminals will come into it

In our area, we had a person driving around, shooting into front doors. We got two rounds through our door. 10mm. Police told us not to worry, just no big thing.

You should think of Kansas City in terms of neighborhoods instead of areas. Olathe has some rough neighborhoods, North Johnson county has some rough neighborhoods, while western Wyandotte country has some nice neighborhoods out by the Nascar track. Kansas City is all about neighborhoods.

They are very often full of it.
the glock switch doesn't make your glock full auto anymore than a Franklin armory binary trigger makes your AR full auto.
it just modify the trigger to fire round when you pull and another when you let off.
Their both made by Franklin armory.
Not full auto, also I got several semi auto guns I can unload very quickly due to a short light trigger and a short reset.
Next time you're at the gun store, dry fire a cz shadow or staccatto.
BTW, a real full auto will empty a 30-round magazine in less than 1/2 a second.
750 rounds a minute is on the slow side for full auto.
Own both a CZ Shadow 2 Compact and a Staccato C2. I think you might be mistaken, the Glock switches do make them full auto.
I lived in Overland Park, a cop pulled over a car and the guy shot at the cop. A neighbor had stuff stolen out of his car. I did go out of town for a week and left my back door open, no problems. But that’s my entire list over thirty plus years.

Work brought me here last year and everybody from my branch in KC told me to try and buy North of the river, I bought a house in Liberty, best decision I could of made considering 99% of shootings I see on the local news happen to be south of the river in between good and bad areas that are side by side with one another. Good to hear you are prepared to protect your family, be safe.

I’m renting in Johnson County close to 135th and Antioch and it’s the safest I’ve felt in the KC area. My family moved to the KC area Dec of 2021 and have lived in Raymore, Northland near the Zona Rosa NW Barry road area and now Overland Park. Overland Park is by far my favorite area to live. OP is a big area though so I’m sure there are some rougher areas within OP.

I have a Son who is about to start school and we wanted to get him into a great school district. The Blue Valley school district is known to be great so that’s why we are now in Overland Park. I love it here.
I live in Raymore. Raised just south of here in Peculiar. Raymore is growing exponentially & has really great neighborhoods. Even the "older" neighborhoods are still kept up well.

Johnson County is definitely the most safe part of KC. This was also the first time I’ve heard that you shouldn’t live south of the river lol. I guess it would apply more for the MO side than KS, but south suburbs on the KS side are very safe.
Yes, that's totally true! South of the river is sketchy only on the Missouri side. In fact, it's almost the opposite with the Kansas side. People say Wyandotte has a higher crime rate than JoCo, which makes north of the river a little worse.
I guess I live in a high crime area but have great neighbors. What the name of the general area you live? Come visit us in Marlborough we have a great community and neighborhood meeting.
Safer places in Kansas City, stay west of Troost. All areas between Holmes and State line are fine all the way down.
I think that the area between Troost and Paseo is getting a lot better. I had a client move there and he says it's totally fine.

I used to live in the area between the Plaza and Westport about 25 years ago and that area always seemed pretty safe. Prior to that we lived in NE Kansas City and that was *not* really safe.
Now I live in Roeland Park, which is probably the safest place I have ever lived. I even feel safer on the streets of Roeland Park than I do in my home country, England. Yet only a few miles north is Kansas City, Kansas, with an astronomical crime rate.
The area in NE Johnson County (Roeland Park, Mission, etc.) is as safe as you will find anywhere, has excellent schools, and, unlike the rest of Johnson County, is still affordable. I recommend NE Johnson County for anyone of moderate means who is planning to move to the Kansas City area, especially if they have school-aged children. For people who don't have to worry about schools then there are still good places south of the river on the Missouri side and it's one of the few places in the western world where you still might find a bargain property.

@@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong As a history nerd and a person who grew up in a big city, I think that there are a lot of positive things about KCMO as a place to live for a single person. If you have children, I think it's still fine but only if you can find a safe area with a good school. Maybe the Brookside or Waldo area would be doable.
If you have kids then I think you should avoid any place where you feel the need to be armed. The greatest danger is not crime or accidents: two thirds of US gun deaths are suicides. You can never know when a family member might develop a serious mental illness and I think that guns are a ticking time bomb in that respect. You might get hit by a stray gangster bullet if you are very unlucky but the bullets that we fire ourselves are the ones that take the heaviest toll.
Also, there is an additional daily stress of living in a high-crime area. In 1993, we lived in NE Kansas City for just over a year and we got raided by a SWAT team in the middle of the night once. They had the wrong address. You don't really need those kinds of worries in your life if you can avoid them.
So, for anyone with kids, I would definitely recommend Johnson County over KCMO. But that's just a general rule. We would probably have stayed in KCMO but for our youngest son being disabled and needing additional help that the KCMO school district didn't seem to be ready to provide. But that was 25 years ago. . .

ive lived in northeast kansas city for almost 35 years, i would never move because ,our block our neighbors, i would never trade all my neighbors, we watch out for each other, we are family....we are all strapped, if anyones house gets broken into, car gets broken into.....we all fight for each others households and children....were family regardless of background race etc....all of my neighbors are christian second generation hispanics, we have cookouts, go fishing together garden together....were family...

I have frequently seen deer there and on my apartment grounds. I’ve occasionally seen foxes and coyote as well. It’s not downtown but definitely a suburban area. Not too safe for hunting.

My aunt lives in Independence, south of the river. It's ok. My cousins, her kids, live in Riverside, north of the river. Very nice! If you're from LA, Riverside is like Palos Verdes
Yeah, I sold a few properties in Riverside. The only downside is that it's a pretty low point in KC, and there are a lot of flood plains there. You have to watch out for that while buying or selling.

We still keep in touch. I think she was just looking out for our best interests. However, that house was a great investment and is a fantastic rental property now.

Have a friend bought a home in Blue HIlls a couple years ago. He had his home burglarized within a year of moving in and also his home insurance rates doubled after that. He didn't even report the burglary to insurance, only KCPD.

It's a pretty sweet house at 59th and Blue Hills, nice neighbors and the houses are well kept on the block but like you he's tiring of the automatic gunfire popping off and also the loud cars racing down Paseo. Depending on your proximity to Paseo, you may or may not hear the cars he speaks of. Like I said, he's sticking it out for now but hopefully things change for the better soon. The area really does have potential, I'm just worried it may not be realized for a decade or more.

Feel bad that you’ve gotten such bad advice. North of the river is the least diverse part of KC and that’s the nice way to put it. Brookside is just two blocks from a horrible part of town. Lees summit is the gem of the KC metro. More parks, restaurants and lakes than anywhere else. You should check it out. ✌🏻
Yes, I have helped multiple clients move into Lee's Summit! That would be a little far from our church, but I find myself recommending Lee's Summit to a lot of people moving here. In fact, there is a client of mine who is going to purchase a home there in the next 20 days.
IMO... if I had to live in Kansas City, I would choose one area. Sunset Hills. It's gorgeous.

Thanks for asking, but since my family is here, I don't feel comfortable giving out our exact location. We do live in the Blue Hills neighborhood near the Plaza.
Most violence are fueled by drugs, gang rivalry and stupid people beefing with each other. As long as you don't attract attention to yourself then you should be fine. Kansas city is still somewhat stabilized with crime ratio getting out of hand as compared to many other larger metropolitan cities statewide. Kansas city, Missouri got a *Stand Your Ground Law* which makes it tougher for criminals to really want to push their luck with strangers.
Yes, we aren't involved in any illegal actvities. We don't bother our neighbors and we try to be as welcoming and friendly as we can. However, the cops were saying with this incident that if the criminals got the wrong address or shot out the wrong side of the road, we could be injured. That's the concern.
Wish I found this channel before I bought my house in KCK. Gun shots are definitely a common occurrence 😳

Stay away from raytown mo and independence mo liberty Missouri is good riverside mo is good and western Wyandotte out by the Kansas speedway in Kansas City ks is good Edwardsville ks and Bonner springs ks is good Johnson county is good if you’re in Overland Park past 95th st Olathe is ok if you’re closer to K7

So much better. It's a constitutional carry state, so you don't need to have a CCW permit. No magazine capacity limits either.
I’d say invest in a firearm and safe to protect your family and move south to the suburbs… Literally zero crime out south…
We do have multiple firearms now. However, moving out South would be tough for us, as I do a lot of stuff in the Northland, and our church/community are near where we live now.

This is now a public service announcement to avoid Kansas City. I owned a home in a city I consider a hell hole but never in over twenty years was there ever anything like this going on even within a mile of the house.
Understandable, just sharing our experiences. There are places in KC to live where this doesn't happen.
LOL. Avoiding crime is very easy. Don’t live anywhere you have to pay KC Earnings tax. I don’t even like taking jobs in KCMO. It always ends up being a headache. Crime, parking, etc. I’d also avoid WY east of 435. Some of the neighborhoods look ok but you’re hood adjacent. There is also public school problem. KCMO schools are so bad they lost state accreditation at one point. Even if your block is ok, your kids will attend school with inner city kids. Also, the house you buy will be the house you buy today you’ll sell someday. The earnings tax means you’re paying more for worse services and infrastructure. Avoiding the E tax might cost you $300 a month in rent or mortgage and it’s worth the investment. I don’t know that I’d take advice from you if you’re making such obvious mistakes.

Your point about the KCMO earnings tax is fine, but even then I think people would be avoiding really nice areas in the Northland. Man you need to get out of that part of the city and move to Olathe, Lenexa or OP. SO MUCH BETTER quality of living and way lower crime. I lived in Independence for 6 months and I work downtown 1x per week. I moved to Olathe in March and it’s night and day difference! Well, overall this has been a pleasant place to live. This video is meant to help people move to KC, so of course I mention the bad as well since I want to be honest. FYI, the "melanated" people in our neighborhood have been welcoming and kind, and a huge blessing to our children and family.

This video had soooo many things wrong but also some pretty accurate things that one could say was some pretty insightful knowledge of how Non Native -Kansas Citian 'plants ' think when they decide to move there. Real Estate Agents telling 'plants' to NOT move south of the MO River is as old as racist J.C. Nichols himself, (founder of The Plaza). Kinda reminds A.A. of the male family members who tell them abt their agents not wanting them to wife/date A.A. women after they are received their "permission slip" into the NFL/NBA by draft.
As for the crime................ Being that Kansas City has NO DIRECT control over it's police dept, the only mid size city in the nation as of 2024, that prevents the KCPD and local officials from making the necessary changes needed to curve some of the gun violence. Starting with making City Ordinance laws that would be more effective than the current 'Open and Carry w/o a permit" laws that have been passed by the looney ass MO politicians in Jefferson City. Every neighborhood in KCMO experiences some type of crime from shootings, porch pirates taking over Brookside, Meth users on the corners with signs along Waldo, down to the drunks begging outside the gas stations on Paseo & Troost Ave!
And when does one who has lived in these "Southern/Eastern" suburbs of KCMO become such experts on the living conditions of the CITY as a whole? Who would go to a podiatrist for a root canal?
You said it right, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! As for being closed minded, it could cause you a great living experience outside of what you've always known. But then again one could argue, this train of thought could stop GENTRIFICATION of neighborhoods by incoming 'plants' that is so needed by now.
