I take for granted this is an actual skill. I learned from the get go to do it this way. Just pick a topic, have a general idea of what im going to talk about, and then just let it flow. Sometimes it goes as planned. other times it produces content that i could have NEVER scripted in a million years. It's off the cuff, and I believe it comes off as way more genuine
This is good, I'm trying to plan on talking through my book, but i get lost creating the words. Riffing comes so naturally. I keep getting stuck in my left brain overthinking. This gives me some good tactics to quiet the mind and speak how i talk best when talking with clients!
This video was dope af. Thanks Brother. Honestly, the binaural sounding music is something I haven't heard in a while and that plus the pace you're speaking really kept me watching. Actually watching the video lol usually I just listen to things in the background.
I use to free flow. Have a topic turn on the camera press record. There’s a time and place for this. I’m naturally a talker in general…my problem was I wouldn’t get all the points I wanted to get across every time. So now I use and highly recommend using bullet points to get your full point across. End of the day it takes practice lots of it. Talking to a camera that doesn’t talk back was weird but you get used to it.
That's going to be true no matter the format but we are creating multiple posts, videos, articles about the same topic so if we don't hit all the points on one, it can be included in another. It's actually another reason to create more content. Good point though.
Thanks Danoh, I needed this as I prepare to launch my channel. I'm a writer, so I've scripted several videos verbatim and feel like to make it the best it can be I need to follow that script. I can read pretty fluently and naturally, but there is that issue of maintaining eye contact with the camera! I want to be real and have this skill. Looks like you're just getting started with this channel too and the algorithm was smart enough to put your video in my sidebar without searching for it. Good luck!
Best of luck with your channel Michael. If you already know how to write transitioning to going scriptless will be a lot easier. Its just about trusting yourself and forcing yourself to get some reps in without a script.
I never really thought of it as skill per se, I usually just take an idea and run with it. Only issue I suppose is veering off to much from the main point. Just as you spoke on. Great topic and presentation, I see few edit cuts, well done and an original topic to speak on...refreshing to see. 👏
I havent' listened to it all, but I like it that it's slower than most video - I would still think that you need to have some points to know where we are at more than just talking like that.

I would also reccomend bullet points! Just wanted to really flex by going completely scriptless for this one.

I need help with my recording studio and personal brand . Are you experienced in the music business?
Remember me, I am one of your first followers
Enlightening! This is an interesting take for sure. However, I wonder how it translates over to informational videos
Very translatable. If you want to make sure you hit certain key points set an outline or some bullet points before you turn on the camera.
