Man, this vid could not have come at a better time. I was just looking to pick up some Celestion G12-80's but was still on the fence about going 1777 or 444 for a 2x12. I have a pair of mid 70's BlackBack G12H30 in it and not really digging it for anything more than clean and really mild overdrive. One of them did have the kazoo thing you mentioned and it turned iut to be a loose dust cap. Big EJ tone fan here. Great vid as always.

Great video Bob !!!! , I learned something today.... 👍👍 May I ask the wattage is the EV speaker ??? What wire you use in yours cabs ??? and what cables you use ??? Amp to cab ... and guitar to amp ??? I know everything makes a difference.... Maybe another video someday with answers to those questions ...???🤞🤞

loved this Bob, thanks, what do you think of Neo mag speakers? Eminence makes a Neo 12L version.

Not sure if your familiar. WGS makes a WGS 12L. Sounds kinda special to me. Like a better 12L (to me). Might be worth a listen.

Bob, what do you think about throwing one 80 and one EV12L in a combo 2x12?

I have never liked mixing speakers off the same output transformer, just my preference, but when running two different amps, on two different types of speakers, in their own cabs, that like each other, I'm all in.

@@BobGjikacould you elaborate on why you don’t like mixing speakers off the same transformer? In my head I’m thinking because you want the best representation of that speakers design reacting to the transformer.

@@douglasdog1 That is correct, but more importantly, I have never found that two different speakers off the same source, or in this case, output transformer, will not hurt each other's ability to function the way each speaker is designed to function. Sometimes you can take two of the exact same brand new speakers, in series, and reverse their positions, and the cab will sound different... in fact, no two of any of the exact same speakers sound exactly the same, and, when you start mixing numbers of them, in series, in parallel configurations, that finished cabinet will sound only like that exact cabinet. So even with the exact same speakers, designed to do the same thing, you will get a very unique sounding cabinet. But when you mix different speakers of different cone and magnet types, you are going beyond the type of character that, to me, from my experience, will be of any value at all. But this is just based on my opinions and experience, so you obviously should try it out and see what happens if you are so inclined.

@@BobGjika yeah thanks! That does make sense and I’ve experienced that I’d say on tests I’ve done with different speakers and mixing them in a cab. I have found a pairing I really like however, although not typical, a 10” and a 12” that occupy different space tonally and they really fill each other out, on their own I can’t stand them. I appreciate your dedication to detail! Thanks again!
