  • I did put a video out on the trip to France. I had to delete it because I had to make some minor adjustments. Hope you enjoy. The trip was to put some flowers on a relatives grave. My dying mother's wish

    Hi mate,nice video. I am 77,french,and living in the south of Norway. Next year,I decided to ride my Forza 350 to the Top of the country,the Nordkapp,all by myself. I wish I had some other scooter or motorcycle fanatics to do the trip with me. Norway is very beautiful and there is little traffic.

      Wow Édouard, fantastic. I know what a beautiful country Norway is. I've never been, but I've looked at your country a lot in pictures and videos. You are truly blessed to be in such a beautiful country.👍 I also loved my time in France and the French people. They were very accommodating to me and my friends. Great to hear from you. All the very best to you mate 👍

    Fantastic scoot! Great all rounder, commuting, shopping, touring. Easy 60-70mph cruising and 80mpg. Really smooth ride. What's not to like?! 8000 mile servicing. Only downside is 3500-4000 miles tyre replacements.

      Great stuff Danny,👍 Thanks so much for the reply it's much appreciated. I do get my fair share of bad comments. Unfortunately when you put yourself in the public domain, you must be prepared for that. When I get a comment like yours it's like a breath of fresh Danny. I will be making a trip back to France, probably next year mate. Unfortunately I no longer have the Forza but my new bike the NC750X DCT is more or less like the Forza it's an automatic. If you can put up with the new machine, then it would be great to have you along for the ride mate. Originally my sole intention was to make videos for my family, because I'm living with Cancer Danny. Then they could look back on my videos and it hopefully gives them some kind of comfort. As I said Danny thank you so, so much for your response. Very much appreciated 👍.

    Hi I am 77 and just down sized from my well used 1200gs to a Honda Forza 300, the gs was getting the better of me. Age has taken its toll. We were on the gs in Spain and France last year and after the forty degree heat I came back wrecked. Also took a tumble at a road junction neat Brantome.

      Hiya Mike, I'm sorry you had a tough time mate on your recent trip, it must have been very tough for you and your wife. I can sympathize, I had the same when me and my wife were in Italy on the bike. I had a pan at the time God it was hot! Anyway I no longer have the Forza anymore Mike. I now have an NC750 DCT. I like it a lot you can switch from manual to auto at the flick of a switch. Manual operates via 2 paddles on your handle bars. It's also got, 4 riding modes! Sport, Standard (eco mode) Rain and User mode. It also suffers from a bad seat like the Forza and springs. I'm going to fix them both like I did on the Forza. I do miss my Forza, it's a great machine. I suppose one day I'll go back to it just like you have Mike. Really great to hear from you mate, all the very best to you and yours 👍 Baz

    Hi again, I know its stinking hot out but I'm starting to think about getting my Forza ready for overwintering. I'll put her away around the end of October depending on the weather but want to do an oil and filter change. However, I cannot find the correct aftermarket filter. I live about 1 mile from the M25/M11 and regularly use it on my Forza. It is truly the worst road that brings out the worst in drivers. I take the view that EVERY single driver using it wants to kill me without a second thought. As for France and the French I love it and them (and Germans/Italians/Poles/Spaniards etc). I've done dozens of visits to Europe over the years on many bikes using the chunnel and ferries. I'd rather be anywhere in France than spend a day in London where everyone hates everyone all the time. Just IMHO of course :-)

    • @bostinbrummie
      @bostinbrummie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Peter I can quite understand how you must feel. I used to train bus drivers once upon a time. Some were CRAP and some were great really professional drivers and good drivers. The trouble is with drivers today they are very impatient. In fact, impatient kills more drivers every year than anything. Everyone, one makes mistakes on the road including me but a good driver will forgive that mistake! The bad ones don't. I used to tell my pupils be careful at the end of your shift and the start of your shift because you will be tired and that's when you tend to make more mistakes. If I see anyone who has cut my up or makes a mistake or anything of that sort, I stay back. Anyway As you say Peter the roads around Europe are a lot better than here. Like you I've travelled all around Europe on a bike. I just wish we had those roads over here. Great to hear from you Peter. Stay safe out there mate. P.S they used to ask me what I do for a living. I used to tell them, I sit in traffic jams all day listening to people shouting at me all day! Be it car drivers or passengers 🤣😂 finished with all that now Peter after 33 years driving and instructing 👍🛵==}}

      Roads were great Douglas. HD version coming in a min mate. Grub was fantastic, cheap food great people, cheap petrol, cheap house's £60,000 for a two bedroom town house in Abert. What's not to like Douglas. I tell you this Douglas if I had the money I'd move tomorrow it was that good. Everyone was so nice, I thought wow I just love this place. Obviously it's a small town and not the city. I was there really for only one reason, to put flowers on my great Uncle's grave for my mom. Anyway Douglas was I surprised about the French. In the end it was a wrench to leave.

      @@bostinbrummie Gotta say, last time I was in France, south of Paris, the French I met were not the most pleasant. I know my vocabulary and grammar is somewhat lacking, but they weren't interested in trying to understand or help. (Pre-mobile phone, I'd broken down on a lonely country road at about 2am). Very anti-Brit vibe. Maybe I was just unlucky.
      Of course you visited The Somme, so Albert must be near the Belgian border - I think maybe people are less snotty up there. My wife comes from the other side of the border - French speaking southern Belgium, and they're a right laugh - no pretentiousness.
      £60 grand for a house! I'm in London quite near the river - round here you couldn't buy a garage for that! So how's your French? At those sort of prices, I imagine renting would be cheap as chips. Is there nothing keeping you in Birmingham?
      I'm a bit of a foodie myself, and I gotta say, if anything tempted my return it would be the food. I remember having a top steak and chips at a French motorway service station once - put the Watford Gap sausage rolls to shame!
      I know what you mean about it being a wrench to come home. I lived in northern Thailand for a while, and hated coming back. And of course for you, you're coming back to a sad time too. But in the end we adjust, and take comfort in the familiar. When I returned to England, I remember reveling in the simple fact that for once, people knew exacctly what I was talking about!
      Gotta go. Loaf coming out of the oven, and I fancy a chip butty - very "haute cuisine!".

    Dear Sir,
    Firstly, please accept my very deepest sympathy re. your mother. If you were as close to your Mom as I am to mine, then I can only imagine the heartache that you must be suffering right now. I am so very sorry for your loss, but I truly believe that a loved one's spirit never really leaves us - your Mom will always be around I hope that your pain will ease in the not-too-distant future, and that the sun will begin to shine once more.
    I was wondering how your scooter coped with sustained highway/motorway speeds, for long periods of time. To put it another way, if I was going to take a trip from England, all the way down to the south of France, via Paris and Lyon, what is the realistic 'cruising speed' of the Forza 350? I mean, could it purr along quite comfortably at 85 m.p.h, for 2 - 3 hours at a time, or would that put too much of a strain on the engine? I wouldn't want to arrive in Marseille, only for my poor little scooter to implode in a cloud of smoke!
    Could it manage 500 miles in a day?
    Your advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm seriously considering buying one myself.
    Many thanks for your time and, again, my deepest sympathy to you.
    All the best,
    Neil.

      Wow Neil, what a reply and what a fantastic reply many thanks. I have yet to take mom's ashes to Scotland but will do so in the coming months. Not sure if it will be in the car or the bike yet. I really, really appreciate your sympathy Neil. I've had to seek medical help for the first time.
      As regards to the Forza being up to the journey Neil I would say yes it would be. The seat might give you a few problems. With me In had to make a stop every 100 miles or so. The sweet spot to get max M.P.G would be around 55 to 65 mph. I have taken the scooter to its max around 93mph but of course the mpg suffered. I went around 80-90 mph for about 100 miles with no problems Neil. You also have to factor in at that speed your only going to get around 150 miles to a full tank. I have seen on TH-cam a guy with a 300 kymco X city went on a journey from Slovakia to Ireland. So there is your answer Neil. If he can do it on that I'm pretty sure you'll have no problems doing it on the Forza. I do hope you enjoy your Forza as much as I've enjoyed it Neil. Once again many, many thanksfor that heartfelt message it brought a tear to my eye. 🙏❤️👍

      @@bostinbrummie Hello, my friend. Many thanks for your prompt reply.
      I was just wondering...you mentioned that the seat may be a bit of a problem over long distances. Is that because it's too hard? And if it is, can you possibly upgrade when you purchase the bike brand new?
      Also, I've heard a few disgruntled voices saying that the rear shock was a bit on the 'firm' side. When you made your trip to France, was this your experience, or do you think some people are just a little bit too fussy?
      And lastly, if you were to purchase the machine all over again, would you add any 'extras' to increase long-distance touring comfort?
      Many thanks for your time, and I hope things are starting to become a bit easier for you day-by-day.
      God bless,
      Neil.
      p.s. Did you buy your machine from Tamworth Honda? I don't live a million miles from there, if you can recommend their service. :)

      @@neilyplim Hi Neil, yes I did purchase my honda from Tamworth. I part chopped my old 1000 cc bike for the Forza. I had great service off them I could recommend them.
      The seat is hard for me Neil some people can get on with it but I have problems. You cannot get an upgrade like you can on the Yamaha Xmax 300. What I intend to do is to take my seat to a place called P&P seating. They specialise in bike seats. I'm going to get them to put in some softer sponge, hopefully this will cure things for me. P&P seating are not very far from me. If you watch my other video Neil I've already upgraded the shocks. The video will tell you where I bought them from. I've also done a video on how to adjust them. I've got preload and rebound adjustment now. The new shocks are great now they have been adjusted to my weight. Most scooters come with crap rear shocks, now mine are great. You need to have a test ride Neil and make your own mind up about the scooter. Personally I would wait until the bike show at the NEC and try some of the scooters there. My list comprised of, The BMW 400GT, the Yamaha Xmax 300, and the Kymco Xcity 300. The BMW & the Kymco were one of the most comfortable seats I've ever come across. Having said all that I still like my Forza Neil and I'm glad I've got it. Once I get the seat sorted it will be great. Hope this helps Neil. All the very best to you. Take care and stay safe out there 👍P.S if you do go for the Forza Neil, and you want to upgrade your suspension, you can upgrade and it doesn't invalidate you warranty 👍
