In all his life, he never imagined that he'd live to see the day where a black man would be elected as the President of the United States. My parents were on cloud 9, and my entire neighborhood turned into a block party in less than 30 minutes as all the families poured out onto the front lawn to celebrate. It was the greatest day ever, and I was only 9 years old.

His failure to lead us during this pandemic has put us in a worse position than we were in 2007-2009. So I'm pretty much forced to go blue down my ballot because the GOP sure as hell won't do anything to denounce Trump's actions. So now I'm hoping Democrats win all 3 branches and can get stuff done.

But I am so done with our current state of Government. Pelosi, McConnell, Trump, they ALL have to go. I think Biden falls in this category as well, but then again, like 2016, I'm being forced to pick the lesser of two very annoying evils. I like neither canidate with the passion I had for Obama, but Trump is just an abstract failure. Absolutely the worst thing to ever happen to our country in such a long time. I'm also annoyed with statuant Partisanship. These people play games with our lives and continue to do stuff more to hurt the other side than help us. @@FireTiger941 That's not the purpose of the electoral college at all. Its purpose is to ensure the president is actually qualified and not just a conman that managed to dupe the populace. Initially, electors in the electoral college were appointed by state legislatures that handpicked impartial candidates that would put country over party. Today that's not the case. Electors are not being appointed by state legislatures, they're being appointed by the Republican/Democrat committees of that state, and the only thing they care about is party loyalty. The claim that the electoral college is flawed is indisputable. The reason we don't change it is because it's up to the states to decide how their electors are chosen, and many states are partisan and don't want to give up power. There's only two states that actually were ethical enough to implement a fair system: Maine and Nebraska.

    John McCain is the representation of the Republican party that I grew up in. Respectful, hardworking, and being able to accept defeat. I even supported Trump before he was elected in 2016, but Trump ruined all of this. He ruined the party and took all the dignity Republican's once had; he made fun of John McCain who was a war hero. This video just sobers a person on how badly it has been ruined by Trump who is too narcissistic to admit he could ever lose, lets hope someday the party can return to being respectful again. :)

      yes, the times when you actually had 2 decent human beings as the main party candidates.
      i mean, i'm european and center-left, so i usually root for the democrat, but if McCain or Romney won, sure, i'd feel slightly disappointed, but i wouldn't be filled every day with rage, anger and fear because a narcissistic ignorant megalomaniacal imbecile holds the fate of humanity in hand. no, because i'd trust McCain or Romney to be reasonable, even if i'd disagree with them on most issues.
      but apparently, in the US in recent decades, when the republican is sane, he has no chance of winning. that's why i knew Trump had a good chance.

    • @babejjones9808
      @babejjones9808 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      you know what's funny is when you watch the debates in 2008 and 2012, and compare them to 2016. Obama and McCain/ Romney obviously had their differences, but the debates were still respectable, and argued with facts between adults. Compare that to the travesty of the 2016 GOP primaries, or the debates between Clinton and Trump...what a joke.

    • @michaelk9337
      @michaelk9337 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +s casino I think your center-left is all the way to the left here. Yeah, we have a lot of uneducated crazies. 38% of the country still thinks that the Earth is 10,000 years old.

    • @scasino9358
      @scasino9358 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i mean, some things here are just off the table. universal healthcare is supported by the right-wing here, it's just common sense ( although sometimes the rightwings do limit the funding and screw around with it, the existence of universal healthcare is a non-debate here. ).
      Sanders would be a pretty moderate leftist ( actually, a centrist in most regards, except for taxes ) here, in his official positions at least, as his personal views do sometimes seem a bit further to the left.
      as for the loons... we have our fair share. the extreme right and left are rising in Europe very fast, and don't think we don't have lots of ignorant people that think that the Earth is a few thousand years old or that the Sun revolves around the Earth. And those people vote, they can't wait to vote, because they're so fanatical in their views, whilst the average decent person stays out of politics because "all options suck". dumbasses don't have such qualms or thoughts, and they'll make the choice for you.

    I voted McCain that year, but I like to think that even then, Trump's ineptitude would've been obvious to me if he were the candidate and not McCain. The Republican voters of 2016 to present have gone out of their rabid-ass minds. I used to listen to Limbaugh and Hannity, but they lost me. Obama actually was a good president. By today's standards it's almost inconceivable. Whatever side you are on, 2008 was a credit to Democracy whether you were a winner or not. I hope the United States can one day live up again to the dignity it once had in its political process.
