    I was 35 and pulled over on the side of the road because I was so overcome with emotion. Others pulled over with me. We all listened to the president speech. I’m a white guy from the south and, for the first time … believed in America. As we listened, African American, Hispanic and whites leaned in to hear my little radio in my pickup. Then we all hugged and cried. Looked to the future and felt great about America. Thank you President Obama.

      Was Obama actually any good? My impression of him was a good talker but lacking in follow though.
      Wish he had move in Syria 🇸🇾 using a coalition, letting the Russian jump in was a huge mistake. America has a big problem with shootings, why has successive presidents done nothing about this...!?!?

      Coming from a hard-line right winger, I have to agree. And yes, he did do good for America, but with a cost. The cost is spiralling debts, abandoning foreign allies, silencing conservatives (political correctness), increasing racial tensions, loss of jobs, etc. Obama spoke at length of the positives of his program - it's what he didn't say is the problem.

      Like Trump or not, I'm going on record to say he'll win reelection. The Democrats shot themselves in the foot nominating Biden, who is no Obama. Literally every cotton-picking candidate running against him for the Democratic nomination would do better than Biden. Sanders is more inspiring. Gabbard is uber-attractive. Buttigieg is youthful and exciting. O'Rourke is Obama 2.0, charisma wise. But they had to pick the washed-up Biden?? The guy with an investigation hanging over him?

Afghanistan was a failure, in the sense that it didn’t go smoothly (but we most certainly should have withdrawn and I’m happy we’re out). Inflation isn’t his fault, it was caused by the pandemic as the president has no control over such things. Gas prices being up are due to supply chain issues, also not his fault.

      Why would I want to go back to the Obama era, He was the start of what mess we have right now, I voted for him the first time with the hope that fresh young ideas in the White House would move this country forward I didn't care about what color the man skin was, But now the color of your skin is who you are according to this installed government we have now. I am white if your wondering. But after I saw how our jobs were leaving this country, and how the American working class was his last concern, I did not vote for him the second time. I voted for Trump in 2016 and I am proud of that vote first time a President did everything he campaigned he would do and I voted for him again in 2020, and I will vote for President Trump again in 2024 if he runs.

    You have to admit, even though his speech is drawn out, he did a good job of trying to unite people and ignite enthusiasm in his speech. He's a great speaker. He didn't say things like the american people are angry or things like that, he appealed to many different groups and said we all fall on the common identity, Americans.
    He was the first black president but he didn't use that as a pedestal here but as an achievement for the country's democracy. Classy move.

      It's too bad he spent the next eight years having all that hope beaten out of him. And now we're on the edge of the most negative, hateful, destructive election in a century. I feel for the guy. I bet he can't wait to get out of there.

    • @Onlyrealmusic4life

      Phil Buckhouse Honestly when I think of America, I feel like it's not run by the president or congress but the wealthy. Really. That's what America is. The money is what corrupts the government. The greed. It almost seems like Obama was used. You know the way the media is. They can put any spin on it. In the end, though some were angry, his election made America look. It really set a smokescreen for 8 more years of inequality between the rich and poor. Fuck what Obama wanted to actually do though. Right? lol that's what it seemed like his whole 8 years to me. People stopped paying attention after he got elected.
      This corruption of the election process is now being more heavily scrutinized than ever in this years election. It's now a public debate and conversation how big money influences politics.
      I watched a video of young Obama talking of his dislike for big money. And I wonder if he likes Bernie and his ideas or if he has changed for good and is now convinced big money is the only way to go in politics. Part of me thinks a little piece of him at his roots wants Bernie to prove him wrong.
      In essence, when you look at all Obama has done, no, he wasn't that amazing. But he couldn't be. When he had republican vow to block anything he wanted passed the day he was elected, other people saying they wish he would fail(meaning that country would have failed too), etc., his potential was caged.

    • @thequeen4531
      @thequeen4531 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Onlyrealmusic4life Big money and Congress to me.. are one and the same. His election threatened to upend the status quo. Not just money but class. The right got louder and Obama seemed to believe that Americans would see through their non-sense. As if we ALL went to Harvard. Sad. I love what he stood for in this election and it was amazing that he got to THIS speech carrying the same idealism that won so many over to him from the start. In the end.. America failed out of FEAR of change. Even those of us who voted for him started to doubt. Kudos to this man.

    I’m a god damn mess watching this. Completely overcome with emotion. As a young transgender woman he gave me so much. He gave me hope that anyone in America can make their dreams come true. Best president ever. Thank you President Obama for bringing change to America!

    I watched this live. Seeing Jesse Jackson fall to his knees in tears to this young president & his beautiful family was a night full of joy & happy tears.
