The refs in boxing are the worst in any sport. They don't call excessive clinching, or turning your back, or ducking below the waist, or holding and hitting etc. At most they'll just tell a fighter to not do those things, but they won't actually dock any points for it. In any other sport the rules are clearly defined and the consequences for breaking the rules are too, but not in boxing apparently.
Here's a fun fact. Ali clinched more than Floyd in his fights but no one complains because people like Ali. Floyd did exactly what he had to do to win and that's what makes him amazing.
