    Nice to see FL5 CTR owners actually experiencing the stock suspension before they actually want to modify it. So many new owners off the bat lowering them with aggressive tires thinking they can do better than Honda engineers 😂

    Those Braids look so dang good on the CTR! I completely agree on the improved NVH with the Conti DWS 06 +. I downsized to 18s on my Elantra N with them and I immediately recognized the improvement in ride quality and road noise. They really are an amazing tire!

    I'm sure it's inevitable, but a comparison between this and an FK8 would be awesome. I'm particularly interested in how the adaptive suspension compares between the two. The ability to change between different modes with the suspension seems almost pointless if the car just changes the settings itself regardless.

    I didn’t seem to have the same overwhelming performance that many others have been experiencing. The car liked to hydroplane at anything over 70mph in a couple inches of water. Tread depth was still around 6-7/32” remaining when I experienced the hydroplaning. I liked the Michelin Premier A/S better, which was almost as good in the dry, much better in the wet, and 10% better in fuel consumption rate.

    love the wheels and that's why I'm watching. Braid gets very little attention in the Subaru community. it's usual Enkei, Rays, Avid1, or ESR. the slightly extra sidewall doesn't look horrible. 265/35 is a popular Subaru size and curious how the 40 aspect ratio compares in price to the 35 aspect ratio (in 265 width). hopefully you'll have less vibrations w/your DWS06 than I did w/mine (235/45/17)....

It would have more headroom, an automatic transmission, and all wheel drive!!!!! An Alfa Tonale Veloce PHEV has as much sportiness, equal torque and adjustable suspension, more room in the back, all wheel drive, muuuch better looks, interior, visibility, more quiet interior and much much better gas mileage. Plus, the resale on the Alfa will be garbage next year and a steal!!!!!!! Honda can screw themselves with the dealer markups. Will stick with my used Volvo V50.

    I dont understand why they have you do a pedal dance to actually turn off everything. In the VN you just press an easily accessible button three seconds and you're good to go, why cant every manufacturers just do that ? Especially on a freaking Type R.
    That said I'd expect it to handle snow quite similarly to the VN, still FWD but good traction and quite nice rotation on sweeping corners. VN has a handbrake tho :P

      They say they'll keep making future generation Type Rs, what kind of hybrid/electric drivetrains they'll have going forward is up for debate. We'll find out eventually, but it's pretty safe to say that this is the last completely internal combustion Civic Type R.

    The car looked really bouncy when he was talking about comfort mode adaptive suspension. It almost seems like FK8 had better suspension but I haven’t drove FL5 yet. Any insights on this thought?

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely preferred the fk8 suspension. Comfort mode was tuned way better and +R wasn’t so unnecessarily bouncy. I’ll see how this setup handles once it gets warmer but very tempted to switch to coilovers once an updated adaptive damper bypass gets released (want to retain drive modes).

      @@TheTopher Thanks for the reply. Your reviews are the best! Overall, do you think comfort mode is ok for daily driving? I’m just looking for a fun daily but want comfort. I won’t be tracking the car. Thanks.

    I don't think Krown rust control is needed on any modern vehicle, because they all have good rustproof steel. Also, they drill holes into the chassis, and fill it with oil, which then drips all over the place. Not a big fan of it.

    • @jonboy602
      @jonboy602 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You clearly don't live in the rustbelt.

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      New cars definitely hold off rusting for a few more years but eventually everything exposed to salt and the chemicals they use out here will rust (usually from the inside out where you can’t see it). It only takes about a year or two for steel suspension components to start rusting and seizing. The only thing I’ve seen that prevents it is krown or other thin oil based coatings. It’s the difference between zero rust and holes in the chassis after a decade (or less) of winter driving.

    When I lived in the northeast we took are nice cars off the road thanksgiving time and back on road April 1st. Why in the world would you ever drive that car year round in the snow? Buy a winter beater..

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tried the winter beater thing plenty of times and I’ve found it just costs more time and money in maintenance than I’m willing to spend. Also didn’t like driving an older/cheaper car that’s not as safe.
      It’s not rusting with the Krown treatment and I’d rather do that along with a few other things to prevent damage instead of dealing with a car that I don’t enjoy driving as much anyway. Life is short, drive your fun cars.
