You are absolutely radiating in this video and so happy for you kicking your savings goals last month. That is incredible! Especially your social media income, that is so well deserved, we can really see the love that you have for TH-cam. The graphs of this new template is super cool, loved seeing the pie chart and fluctuations of each day in the month.

I don't really have a lot of categories for my budgeting. So for me, my most expensive spending is for groceries. That includes my family's groceries and a grocery allocation for my father's house.

I really enjoyed this video Ella, you're so transparent!
I accidentally locked myself out of my house on a PUBLIC HOLIDAY, so i had to fork out $300 for a locksmith, who took all of 5 mins to get the door open!
But in saying that I hit all my savings goals this month so you could say things balanced out :)

Hey! The best way I would track quarterly and semi monthly bills on a spreadsheet is by adding the “Gas - Quarterly” fund (an example lol) to the sinking funds. I’d add my amount of $X in there for the first 2 months, and then on the 3 month, you take the money from the sinking fund and add it to your income as “Gas Quarterly Fund” and add it to your “Gas” budgeted (along with whatever you are adding for the 3rd month) under the bills category. That way you can see how much the bill was in the bills category section without skewing the numbers too much. It’s basically what you do with your monthly rollover! I hope that makes sense and/or helps lol.

You explained this much better than me! Glad we are thinking the same thing. I’ve run into this with a lot of annual payments and “myself” out of a sinking fun has been the easiest way and keeps the numbers balances per say.

Soooo idea for the Utilities situation 18:45. Hopefully I can explain my thinking in a way that makes sense…
    1) Add up all your quarterly and yearly utilities and figure up how much they you would need to set aside each individual month.
    2) Once you have that monthly lump total, each month pay that amount into a sinking fund in the budget tracker.
    3) Once the month comes up that you have to pay the bills put lump total in your income category of the tracker to “pay yourself” out of your saving.
    4) For each utility bill track the actual amount so that it will show up in the spending tracker.
Hopefully that makes sense! I love your videos and so excited for you to be posting 2 a week ! Blessing being sent from the US !

Great video. I'm new to budgeting this year but I've been really good at sticking to tracking our expenses. Our biggest expense in Jan was big purchases for our baby who is arriving in approx 6 weeks. Cot, dresser, baby shower, appointments - it all got really expensive and we barely saved. In Feb, we should spend less so hoping to stick to our budget.

I pay our quarterly bills (rates, water and gas) monthly via bpay so that way you can track your monthly and annual spend and you don’t get a bill each quarter. It is one of the best things we have done to help with the budget. So glad you are loving your new job

For the gas, I would say it is $40/m sinking savings and then only put the amount spent in on the month the quarterly comes out. You are saving it to spend quarterly. Then if you put the actual amount spent the month it comes out you’ll see it at the end of the year.

I do the bills as a sinking fund in the savings section as it is sort of very short term savings in my mind. That way I can see the annual cost also.

Us aussies like to ignore the first "r" in February, classic lazy aussie language 😂 I would love the see how you plan & organise, I find that so interesting but I might be a bit weird lol. My biggest expense for this month was buying myself a laptop at the start of the year that I hadn't budgeted for. It's really been worth it though to be able to be productive while I watch TV instead of just playing games on my phone!

  • @DonnasWonderland

Just on the budget for your gas another option to consider is tracking by putting the full amount you have saved then entering the bill when it comes in so say starting with zero in jan you add 40 no bill your diff is plus 40. Then in feb you carry over the diff add the 40 so put your budget as 80 no bill so diff plus 80 in March carry the diff 80 and 40 budget 120 bill comes in *98 diff *+22 April 40+diff *22 budget *62, would that maybe work?
Just want to give you huge props Ella I wish I’d been so on top and in control of my budget at 26 and also had this goal orientated personal development focus I didn’t get here until my mid 30s it’s going to make a huge difference to your future being there already ❤

I feel like when TH-camrs start making more money they don't wanna share it bc us the viewers will judge or something like that, which some people do, but I am really really interested in the finances of a regular TH-camr. I also don't like when ppl call TH-camrs privileged bc they make a lot of money, I mean, you work your ass off to get there, but that's besides the point 😂 you do you girl, be transparent, if someone can't handle it, they should just leave

In regards to your gas bill debacle. I personally set up direct debits for my water, electricity and gas every fortnight / month that goes into my account with each provider.
Then I can budget for that, and I have no big bills pop up every 2/3 months. I also do the same for my land rates, I pay $50 weekly direct to my shire so I don’t have a big bill every year. Unsure whether SA offers this, I am in WA.

  • @Hannah.Beazley
    @Hannah.Beazley ปีที่แล้ว

My spreadsheet is a little different to yours, but for my non-monthly goals I took the annual total from last year and divided it by 12, and put that aside each month. So for example, with the bi-monthly gas bill if I'm putting aside $40 each month, and when it comes it's $67, I only track $27 that month because I know I have the $40 set aside from last month. If by some miracle it's only say $35, I just record -$5 and it adds the difference back to my working total. Since yours breaks it down monthly in your annual dashboard, it might not be a true representation month-to-month but the annual total would be accurate - hope this helps!
