Helpful video. I'm starting in on a '77 Merc 500...rotted wire harness. BTW...at 1:39...what is that? I assume diaphragm for vacuum powered fuel pump....
Has anyone found a way to connect muffs to it to run out of water without a bucket? Seems like the water intake grates are in an awkward position and regular muffs can’t seal onto
@@NorthernEXpeditions please , my friend will be helping me with the new wiring loom instal as I'm colorblind any help with the wiring and so on would be a godsend. Subscribed for sure. Well.done and thank you
Well one thing I've learned is the wires rot on the old Mercury's from the stator so you have to repair repair replace and an old motor like that fold the plugs out mix yourself some two strike oil with about an ounce of STP oil treatment makes it really good and squirt it in the cylinders just turned it over by hand a couple times and let it sit for a day and then come back put the plugs back in and prime your fuel and that way you'll get vacuum pressure which is vital to the fuel pump in those motors and then it'll start right up you'd be surprised every time you'll have compression from putting oil in the cylinders pre-oil it's been sitting dry way too long
That First Start was Absolute Music.

Okay number one rule and repairing all boat motors I always replace the water pump always otherwise you'll burn up that motor once you get it running
