- Hi Guys, we have just potty trained Caleb! He totally got it after 4 days and I am so pleased and acting like a smug mum. I think a lot of why he got it so quickly was that he was totally ready but in this video I share my best potty training tips and tricks. I really hope these tips are helpful.

Hi, my name is Emily. I am a wife and mum of two handsome boys and pregnant to our third baby. I started this vlog after years of enjoying other beauty, product and mummy blogs.
I video my everyday life every week and post on a Monday and also make other videos about things I like and products I have purchased and my own tips and opinions on parenting.
This vlog is a nice way to record events that happen in our lives (a bit like a diary) for my sons. It is such a cliché but time really does go so quickly when you have children and I just wish there was a pause button to soak up every little moment with them. I
I hope that this vlog can help capture our moments and that one day our boys can look back at some of them and know how much they are loved.

This has eased my anxiety, my son is 2 years and 5 months and everyone keeps saying “you want to get him out of nappies he’s too old for them!” We’ve been trying him with his potty and wearing his big boy pants around the house, he knows what he needs to do on the potty etc but isn’t quite telling me when he needs to go or when he’s gone. Am so glad I came across this video!
I am in the same spot right now. I know you post is kind of old, but how did you do it? do you have any advice? 😅
@@Phd366 hey! I just kept sitting him on his potty every couple of hours and soon he discovered that he didn’t like being wet anymore! It was as if it happened overnight! He’s coming up to 4 now and has been out of nappies, dry in the day and night for just over a year 🙂 good luck!
Don't let ANYONE tell YOU what YOUR CHILD is too old for! I have a friend whose daughter stayed in nappies til 4. All children are different
2 years old and too old for diapers!? OMG! My son is 3.5 and just potty trained.
OMG, I have gone through the same; everyone telling me that he should have been potty trained long ago. My boy is 2 years 9 months and is almost potty trained for the last week and a half. He pees in the potty but asks for a diaper if he wants to poop. Nap time is diaper free but night time is with diapers. Please don't let anyone tell you what is right for your baby. You are the parent and you know what is best for your child❤
I would say, not everybody ,is the same,nor are prepared for " potty training", there are some kids that will learn right away, others might have " accidents", and take na longer time, but eventually they will learn, awesome tutorial.
"Nappies" "trousers" "wee". I love hearing these words instead of the words for these items that I'm used to.
Yeah same, depends where you're from and what you grew up saying. I live in Australia and we say nappies

I cannot believe I managed to potty train my son this weekend in 4 days! I remember watching this video before he was even born years ago thinking it wouldn't be this easy but he is so proud of himself! My son is 2years 7months and he was already so interested in the potty so we knew he was ready! 💗

I know this video is super old but I watched it when I trained my oldest and she’s a girl so frankly it was so easy. But with my son the foot in the warm water thing! Amazing idea! I will try that!!! Thanks :)
I'm on day 4 of toilet training my boy/girl twins and my girl got it literally day 1 haha but my boy is still refusing to sit on his potty. I've just gotten that urinal you showed and am going to try sitting him on the big toilet today. Fingers crossed. Thanks for always coming through with those good tips and advice! ❤️

My little boy is now 4 and we have tried to potty train him tons of times since he was 3. Its only recently that he turned a corner and his speech and understanding was enough to be able to potty train. We are on day 5 and the last two days he has been using the potty perfectly. Ice lollies are the main source of motivation. He would do anything for an ice lolly even if it was snowing he would still want am ice lolly. Sticker charts dont work for him. He was quite resistive at first- he said he wanted to be a baby and wear a nappy and didnt want to be a big boy or wear his new pants. Last couple of days have been successful. Its very encouraging..he has been dry at night for the last fortnight as well but i have put a waterproof mattress protector on there anyway. Basically, potty training turns you into a janitor! Lol

Reading your comment, I can definitely relate. My mom and dr wants me to start potty training but I dont think he's quite ready. My son was a late talker and trying to get him to understand the potty , when his communication and understanding aren't as developed yet that it would be pretty hard and stressful to start now.

Just waded through young couples vlogging potty training about their experience. Not what I was looking for. I must say that your videos are always educational, straight to the point, and with very useful tips! I have watched your videos since i was pregnant and they have always been soo clear cut and helpful. Thank you for posting!
My grandson is 18 months old.. I keep him 2 days a week so his parents and I are working together. We both have a potty at our home. He actually went pee pee! We are so proud of him… Parents and caregivers just stay consistent that’s key!!!! Good luck to everyone
Thanks a ton for sharing this video ❤. Your video motivated me to give it a try with my 2 year 9 month old baby boy. It took almost a week and a half for me and he still wants to wear his diaper when he wants to poop and wears a diaper at night but he uses the potty exclusively for peeing and won't pee even if he is wearing a diaper; nap time is also diaper free. I think this itself is a massive accomplishment for us and I am so proud of him 😊 Thanks again for being creating such a supportive environment for new moms, God bless you❤

My sons 3, looks like a 5yo tbh. So people automatically think in the nursery he should be off nappies. So this Sunday I'm going to train him hopefully as it's half term and surprise the nursery when he returns the following Monday lol. It's going to be hard work, as his the only child and I took a week off work. In this time frame I'm hoping to make this happen. Your such a patient parent. Obviously they'll be accident here n there.
Potty training my girl was a breeze and I’ve heard boys are harder so I’m dreading it! So this was a relief to watch

My little boy is 4 in August, but isn't talking at all. I have been trying to potty train since he was 2, as he started showing signs like hiding for a poo being dry for long periods of time. He has amazing bladder control, can hold his wees and poos for 12/14 hours! I even tried putting his hand in water and gently pressing on his tummy nothing! He's starting school in September and l really don't want him in nappies. Stressed is an understatement.

I saw this video like a year ago when I was trying to learn about potty training. Some of your tips got stuck in my mind. I didn’t remember from where I heard these tips. Now year later my son just learned to use the potty, and while training I remember a few of your tricks. I was prepared for a long frustrating journey that only took 2 day for me.
4 days is soo good well done little man!!! That green urinal is awesome!! I filmed our update yesterday as I think we've finally cracked it too, so handy before our baby boys arrive! 💙💙

The hot water bowl tip is pure genius ! This motivates me to start potty training my 2,5 yo. His big brother potty trained literally overnight when he was 3, so I feel like I have zero experience on this topic 😂
I've just started potty training my 3 year old little boy, he doesn't like the potty so we are straight onto the big toilet stickers and lots of praise are helping :) xx

Thank god I didn't have to potty train my son. I guess I got lucky cause a few weeks before he turn 3, he just walked to toilet, sat on it and did his business. And he never had accident in bed either cause he doesn't like to be wet and dirty so he never wet the bed. But he doesn't wake up to go toilet either. Of course I made sure he went toilet before he goes to bed.

K Sha av never had to , I buy a potty when they r around 12 months an jst leave it in the living room. All mine were really early with no coaxing at all 17 months 24 months 15 months. an I mean in pants no nappy week again they have never even wet the bed except my daughter who did a few times till she was 3 . feel lucky cos I see people stressing about it all the time

so helpful Emily!!! I am now potty training my son. He sits but doesnt do anything, and as soon as he leaves the toilet he does it! Its sooo frustrating! With my other girls it wasn´t like this at all. I will try your tips starting today! Thanks!!!!

my son now gets up and goes himself if he needs to. we "lifted him " before we went to bed for a while and eventually could just gently wake him and tell him to go and he would go and then get back to bed. it's all a process
It's amazing how they can do it in the night! I was always so amazed with that but it works well xx

Thanks so much for this video Emily!We kind of started introducing our little girl to potty but she is totally refusing to sit on it like Caleb did!She is almost 2 years old and she picks up things so fast that I thought we might give it a go.She is also showing a few of the signs however she seems to be so stubborn with this.I don't want to push it and ruin it for her,so might wait a little bit longer.Just thought it will be easier now it's getting warmer. But well done Caleb!!And those little pants on him😍adorable!x
Aw I know what you mean - with my first son Fraser we started just before he was 2 and it was a 3-4 week thing and now seeing how fast Caleb got it I think leaving it later is the way to go! It was a much quicker less painful process thins time and he can communicate so well now he's older he can tell me more etc. Good luck when you do it xx

He's already 3!!! He's old enough. He really is just plain stubborn! I think I'm going to try the Boys Urinal see if that might work. Or even the Cherrios method.
My other 2 boys learned at about 2 1/2 years old. And they learned quick within a week they were going in the potty. But this one does not want to go at all.
Beginning the potty training with my 12 month old just been putting her on the pot every time i go & yesterday she actually peed , her pot looks just like a mini toilet & it even has a flusher that sounds like a real toilet ... it’ll be a journey but I want her to at least be used to being on it . Thanks for the tips I’ll definitely utilize them .

My son is 3 and he hasn't really shown any signs of interest for potty training. Except when he goes poo in his diaper he says, "poo" and grabs at his diaper. Ive asked him if he wanted to try sitting on his new potty twice and both times he said "no!" I even showed him a potty training video but he didn't seem interested....... any tips or advice to kind of get him interested? He's the only child too so no siblings to look up to for that.
Jess Wood I’m about to start potty training my son, he’s 2y8m (he’ll be 3 in Aug) we still haven’t really started PT like consistently every day but have tried little things here and there just so he would be familiar with everything. I’ve sat the little potty in the living room, he goes to the bathroom with daddy, always take his shorts and diaper off when he’s outside playing (of course just at home and Grandparents)
Sing him a “T T in the potty” song anytime I’m going to the bathroom. And let him flush the toilet. I’ve tried sitting him on the potty a few times and he’s scared to so I know that’s going to be our biggest struggle.
With my daughter I bought a sheet of small stickers and anytime she used the potty she got to put a sticker on her potty, she really liked that.

Omg the foot in the warm water! I have to try this. My 4yr. old nephew is so behind on training. He refuses to go. Even though I know he has to go. He just holds it in. He is so uptight and high anxiety when he is on the toilet. He won't relax enough to go. I am at my witts end.

Aw that's crazy so close in age! I probably would've left it if I wasn't pregnant ha #badmum and I think I underestimated him as I did not think he'd get it as quickly as he did! Maybe do it while the weather is good - even if that's August ;-) hee hee xx

Hi, great job on the potty training. My question is, during the day did you let him wear a pamper or a regular undie? I’m trying to figure out where I start.
Thank you for this!! My niece was potty trained from 18 month, through the night aswell, she hated being in nappies!! My son is almost 2 and he's started telling me when he's done a wee or poo and he sits on his potty with a nappy one and does a wee or poo but just won't sit on it without a nappy to do anything, he'll stand next to it and wee... Tried sitting him on toilet too but he doesn't like that! I guess I just have to keep at it and he will do it. Me and my mum both feel like he's totally ready though xx
It totally depends on the child - Fraser was about 2 and hates being messy so he would physically take his nappy off when he'd had a wee so I felt I had to do it early. I think as his mum you know him best and know when he's ready - I am glad I waited with Caleb cause it made it all so much quicker :-) xx

Thanks so much for this video. My son is at that same age now, 2y8m so it’s really time to buckle down and get him potty trained. He has an older sister, she’s 5, and potty training her was very rough bc she had really bad issues with pooping starting around 6-7m she was in a lot of pain from then until we found what worked for her to help give her relief and to help regulate her bm’s. Bless her heart, she wasn’t potty trained until she was 4 but is now fully potty trained and doesn’t need a pull up at night anymore YAY! But now I’m back at it again with my boy 😅 he hasn’t had any of the same issues as his sister 🙏🏼✝️ but he is so spoilt rotten and loves to be babied (thanks grandmas 🙃) so he’s pretty stubborn and doesn’t want anything to do with it. His daddy has taken him to the bathroom with him since he was 1 1/2 just to get him to see how’s it’s done but all we got outta that is a really great toilet flusher. 😂

My daughter learned at around 2, she was doing great and never wet the bed until now that she is 2 and 7 months. Her mom is pregnant again and due in a couple of months. As a "single" father(have her 5 days a week) I don't know what is going on but when I asked my mom she said it is normal because she is having a new brother so she tries to act like a baby to get my attention but my mom claims that she will be normal again (which I really hope so).
It's probably from stress. She has a lot of changes happening in her life, and young children wet the bed and have trouble sleeping when they are stressed out.
Ur mums right we had the same issues and our daughter then went back to normal try to relax and not over stress as she will sence it and maybe delay her returning her back to normal again just be encouraging and offer her stickers or something if she dosent have an accident give her 1

Awesome video! Very simple but encouraging, insightful! I like the urinal idea as well as portable potty. I like the idea of committing a few day to just potty training only in underwear. I dont want pee all over the house lol 😆 but my son is 3 and hasn’t gone potty once. I know it’s time!!!!

Our day 1 of potty training has been awful! He's 3 in July 😩 my little one just doesn't want to do it at all!
I potty trained my little brother to pee in the toilet hopefully he’ll start the pooping in the toilet soon I’ll update !!! but basically he’s a tough one too!
what I did was take away his iPad and said if he wants to be a big boy he needs to use the toilet, it takes time but slow steps into making him get used to the toilet standing position and boom he peed standing up in the toilet today! he’s turning 3 in January
@@marianam9594 we seemed to have mastered it now. Dry at night times the lot. The only thing we have to be careful off is too make sure he doenst just keep playing and ignore the fact he needs to go. So constant reminders when he is excited! On day 3/4 he just clicked with it! Poo was definitely harder but he has a very sensitive stomach too so the slightest thing an knock it off. So we now watch him like a hawk 😂

Oh congrats to him!!! & go You!!! I potty trained my daughter in 3 days. We used the Elmo DVD it's potty time & had that on all day long for 3 days lol & instead of using stickers we used jelly belly beans, 1 for pee pee & 2 for poop & worked like magic lol
We watched that Elmo potty time on TH-cam!! He really liked it! :-) so glad he got it quickly xx
& the little boys urinal is the coolest potty ever lol I've never seen or heard of it. I'm expecting number 2 a boy & will definitely get one when he's potty trained! So cute!

I like your video, It is very important to see a plan for the baby to leave the diaper as soon as possible. This represents a savings in the purchase of diapers. It is an awesome brand new product for potty training design so everyone can follow it. Something I also found helpfull for Caleb 3 day potty training was Renkarter Turbo Training Report - find it on google if you like.

"Potty-trained" is a broad term. Most kids take much longer than 4 days to be fully potty-trained, doing things on their own and not having accidents.

Interesting tips! Useful information! I do wonder though if physically taking them to the toilet goes against trying to teach them to be independent and learn to go on their own... but he slept through the night dry, so eh who knows. There's no 100% right way to do things.

This is day 2 of potty training for us. Yesterday my 3 year old boy went pipi and poop on his potty. On his own too! We were so proud. However he was naked the whole time. How did you condition him to start using the undies and teach him to pull them down when he was to go potty? He's having a hard time wanting to wear the undies and pulling them down. But if hes all bare he will use the potty like no problem.

This is very helpful! My daughter Charlotte has been taking her diaper off and fussing with it a lot. She will be 2 in January (next month) so im thinking its time to start training her to use the potty. I asked if she wanted to try and she said yes so I hope it's a good idea to start. We have a mini potty that looks like ours and flushes so hope it works! Thanks for the advice!

We were doing well with the potty over here for a week or 2 of perfection and then suddenly he REFUSED , so we are back in diapers .. oh well! Way to go Caleb!

Some good ideas Emily but I never used a potty for my two girls nor for a friend's daughter who I minded at the time. I didn't see the sense in training them on a potty and then all over again on the toilet. I used a toilet step and a trainer seat on the actual toilet and the whole three of them twigged quite quickly what they had to do. However 40 years on and I mind my 21 month granddaughter who's beginning to communicate already that she's just done a pee or a poo in her nappy! So next step is the toilet!! Wish me luck!!! 🤞 😍
My child used to sit on the potty as young as 7-8 months. However, he slowly started to dislike it, and after some constipation episodes he started to just getting scared or pooing. So it's basically back to square one
