They co-wrote "Space Station #5" the day they met.
Holy shit. It was meant to be.
"Space Station #5" is one of my all-time favorite songs
and one of the greatest Rock songs in Rock History.

Sammy is a really nice man, who has been through it all. Saw him on 60 Minutes and got a great flavor for the man. There is something about the path a human takes that makes them very humble and grateful. Just one wrong turn and it all goes sideways, but not for Sammy. Stay hyper-energetic Sammy............love ya.

In Ronnie's defense, after Sammy shined Montrose off during Hagers tour(that Montrose opened up for) At the Concord, CA show I saw. Sammy sang one or two Montrose songs after his own exhausting hour long set, then said, he was too tired. Needed to go. Audience was bummed, Ronnie was ready to go all night, as he said on stage. Sammy declined. Thanks for the money, go home now. Great reunion never happened. Cuz Sammy already been paid. So now when Sammy is ready to fly Montrose into Cabo, to make some more bucks, Montrose declines, little wonder why, imo. Sammy didnt even list Montrose name on the ticket, I still have for the Concord show. It's always all about Sammy, even in Van Halen, imo. Two shots at super bands, both foiled by failure to share the limelight, imo.

10:37 Wow, I did not know about that deal between Ronnie! Bill Church, and their wives. I think it shows Sammy had a ton of restraint not to mention that anywhere until now, so many years later. Ronnie remains my guitar hero and an enigmatic figure. But I do see that there is always a cost to greatness.

To me it's here say .Hagar lied about alotta crap saying it was Ray Daniels that caused Sam TO QUIT . As said in a guitar magazine interview , Eddie Van Halen said Ray was a witness to Sam's attitude changing after his success in tequila and Cabo Wabo . He started bossing Ed around and THATS WHAT STARTED BETWEEN ED AND SAM . In a Van Halen compilation of videos thru the years , you see Sam saying " This is MY band . " while he's walking backstage somewhere . In another video clip he says " Lead singer of the band , leader of the band ,what's the difference ?" . Just because you see him in this video being nice and polite doesn't mean he's that way making music . Others don't blame Ronnie for the breakup .

Sammy Hagar was the only one that unfairly trash talked Dave when he started as lead singer . Even at the end of the 5150 tour he would say crap about Dave and it was already old news . Thats why Dave rightfully gave him the cold shoulder .

Sammy v. Van Halen? NO CONTEST Sam. The first two VH LPs alone were better than anything you ever did solo + Montrose.

      🤣🤣
Van helen was average bubblegum rock. Studio gaga. Not much worse than watching a drunk davidlee try to lip synch in concert. Sammy saved them from early extinction. Charity work.
Montrose is still one of the greatest rock masterpiece albums ever created. van helen isn't even in the contest.

@@Derideo The first Montrose album was really good with the best tracks BY FAR "Rock the Nation" written by Ronnie and "Good Rockin Tonite" a copy song. Sammy;s songs were pretty weak especially that insipid "Bad Motor Scooter" and "Space Station". "Make It Last" was good. I saw them LIVE in 73 and they were great. Van Halen debut did not have a weak song on the album and was a notch above Montrose easily overall. And they absolutely blew Journey and Ronnie Montrose "Open Fire" solo off the stage in May of 78. Probably the two best debut rock albums between 1973 and 1979.

@@DerideoVan Halen's first album and the 1984 album COMBINED outsold the WHOLE Van Hagar era catalog of albums . Before Captain Candyass joined the band Van Halen was a real hard rock band . Hagar made it more like Journey 2.0 .

I ordered one of his autographed CD's. Open Fire Is the name of it I believe. I loved Montrose and Gamma so I figured it was good. I ordered it online and it never came. About 3 weeks later I emailed the vendor and here it was Ronnie. He was doing it all himself. He was upset that I had complained about how long it had been and had never gotten my CD. He only made 500 of them. He told me he was busy working and touring and I answered him and asked him what did he expect when he is selling something and a month later the item has not come. He never did say he was sorry but he did send my cd. I got it about 10 days later.

I agree . I used to be a Hagar fan til he lied about coming back up to play in Alaska . I've seen him promoting a few of his albums up til his VOA album promo concert . In the concert he said he would be coming back up because we were cool with him . No one were aholes throwing crap @ him during the concert . We loved and respected him . And as it says in his book he lied saying the VOA tour was a complete sold out tour . BUT IT WASN'T . In his book he said Van Halen cancelled the Alaskan tour plans over some SNAFU . When OU812 came out I told a sports arena employee that I can't wait to finally see Van Halen in Alaska . The guy told me they would never do a concert with Sam because Sam got pissed he was a few tickets short of a sold out concert . Just a few tickets . He told the arena manager he would never play up here again . Van Halen finally showed up with Gary Cherone and it was the best concert I was @ . And unlike Captain Candyass , no one in the band explained why they never came up before . They could have been loudmouth aholes like Captain Candyass but they acted like REAL MEN , not crybabies .

I was born on a 13th as well but I don't think it was good luck or even that it has anything to do with luck I don't know Sammy you got the good luck. I don't know but I left some chats on one of your interviews spoke of synchronicities because of the UFO thing. I forget the name of the interview dude, but hopefully you'll find them and read them., I explained my UFO experience cuz I've been seeing UFOs all my life, some of them were far away some of them where just lights in the sky. a big white fuselage looking thing cruise across the Montana sky. but in 2005 a silver orb I could have hit it with a slingshot and everytime I talk about the silver orb I get very emotional, choked up,0 tears in my eyes just like when I listen to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I can't listen to that song without getting choked up and then if I try to sing it I can't sing it I get way too emotional. then 2007a black triangle that I could have hit with a slingshot, I go in more detail in that other chat interview but I don't explain the whole thing in complete detail just parts of it cuz it's a chat right. But it is very strange that the silver orb makes me emotional the black triangle just black triangle very cool UFO story though and both times with other Witnesses so there's at least proof. questions questions questions we need questions answered LOL I think the beings in the silver orbs, I think those are very special beings loving special beings. I mean it looks like a pinball flying through the sky and everytime I talk about it I get uncontrollably emotional.🤔😎
