Think like a data analyst in tech | portfolio project

  • I critically think to problem solve a data analyst project in Tech. As a business intelligence engineer at Amazon, my role is a mix of a business analyst, data engineer (I use ETL - extract, transform, load and data warehouses), and a data analyst. I talk about how to do analytical thinking and what types of tasks can be done using excel, sql, python, and a BI visualization tool. This video goes through a SQL project for a data analyst and is helpful for anyone trying to understand what data analysts do, how to become a data analyst, and analytical data project (portfolio) ideas.

    📄 ABOUT ME:
    My mission is to help you grow your career, especially in the world of data analysis. Switching careers to become a data analyst from a non-tech background was overwhelming. I made a lot of mistakes and wasted time trying to figure it out. But having been a manager of data analytics and now a senior business intelligence engineer in tech (FAANG), I've learned a lot and I'm excited to use my experiences to help you navigate your career path. I hope this channel gives you the clarity and motivation to get started!

    Now this video is excellent! Nothing on TH-cam is as clear as this video, for someone aspiring to get into Data Analytics. And it's answered my Stats question. I didn't think about the communication aspect with the team, and assumed that a data analyst should know the metrics themselves. Wow this just helped me know what to expect and even improve on the quality of my own personal projects. Thanks Agatha!!❤

    Great view into the full lifecycle of an analytics project. You had me LOL @ you jumping right into making a dashboard as soon as the PM requested it and then j/k right after. 100% requirements need to be clear. This is where communication and soft skills are so important

    • @agathakang
      @agathakang  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% agreed. LinkedIn just came out and said communication is the most in demand skill for 2024 so yes analytics and communication will be SO important for data analysts.

    I love how you went through the requirement-gathering process and the critical thinking involved. You also highlighted the communication aspect. Great video!!! Please can we have more of these types of videos? I feel that a lot of people focus more on the hard skills.

    Thank you I would love more data project examples just like this one.
    I love that you explained from taking to stakeholders and asking what they want and you h gave a great example to use. I’m realizing working in marketing ( social) everyone’s examples are increasing followers or shares and I know there are other projects people work on that company’s want to see .

    I'm currently working in cyber security and have started toying with the idea of maybe moving into a data analyst role. I also have a background in UI and UX design, and seeing MVP, the design document and the 'user journey' of starting with the problem and working from there sound really familiar to me because of that! 😂 I'm watching a lot of your videos now, and they're very clear and concise, so thank you! You're helping me make this decision
