Little has changed with the standard of reffing. I’ve gone past thinking they are good enough and actually think they are corrupt. No one can be that bad by accident.
This is why I have no time for refs all think they are super important and most think they are famous for what being useless, if you are useless in any other job you get binned, I feel di canio was hard done to here and I back him
It doesn’t even show the bit where I think it was kitson finally won West Ham a penalty for what was a really soft foul (nowhere near the 5 or so penalties di canio should have had) and Lampard tries to stop paolo taking the penalty and wants it himself. Nobody was winning against paolo that day!
Di Canio had a reputation for being a diver and back then if you had a reputation for it it seemed way harder to actually get a penalty awarded. You can see how tenacious he is and how well he manages to stay on his feet outside the box, but the moment he gets in there he's going down at the slightest bit of contact. That being said the first incident was a stonewall penalty and I'd have probably given the 3rd one too and you cannot take anything away from his ability - he was a fantastic footballer
@@Itonwise come on son. Certain players like him always tried to win penalties in the box. Just back then referees were more selective about awarding them or not. The refereeing here was just ridiculously shambolic, but it wasnt uncommon for them to not give to certain players who would look for contact and hit the deck
The pen they gave to Rooney to end the unbeaten run 🤮 refs had a clear agendas then, they still have them now it’s just more subtle and backed up by VAR
The referee hate him soo much . The best Italian dribbler
The commentator is also fucking golden on this lmfaoooooo "Di Canio, to put it mildly, is incandescent."
I remember playing sunday league as a young boy, I would wave the paolo di canio finger when decisions went against me..... good times!
A hope you gave it back to him when you were finished with it.
The ref was dreadful
Who’s the ref? FFS
How was that ref was allowed to work after that match?? Shocking and corrupt
1:33 Trod on the ball? Was the commentator watching the right game? Clearly a penalty.
You don't see anybody beat players like that in the prem nowadays
Rashford and martial both did it in debut years
salah?
St maximim
Eze
Literally see it every weekend but okay
If a ref doesn't know that a simple tap or kick on the leg whilst running can trip a player, then he doesn't belong on the pitch.
broooo! he's killing the wing!!! he so goood!
On these decisions Var today would give you a six month jail sentence
Sh*t referees can wreck a match.

blood hell. I used to love this west ham!

Hahaha. What a showman!! What an Italian showman!
Shaka brought me here
Same here but where the part where he said Di Canio sitting abt 5 mins in the middle of the pitch?
he just mentioned it again last night so bought me here - it definitely wasn't 5mins

Hilarious how Redknapp tells this story in another vid
Corrupt.
That is the PL we all used to love. RIP
What? Shit referees?
Ahh, the Prem corruption years. Fergie’s era
Referee denied clear penalties. Smh
01:41 that backheel pass is so amazing :)
West ham fans, a bit of solace after the cruelty of the non-awarded obvious penalties: where are Bradford now??????????
