I personally love this saw and I can’t say enough good about the saw itself and imo it’s the next gen of cordless chainsaws however as good of a tool as it is it does have drawbacks firstly the auto oiler isn’t adjustable and it make sure the bar is oiled like too well because if your doing a lot of cutting and get oily sawdust build up (Milwaukee’s solution was add a brake clean out to use compressed air to clean it and that’d be ok but what isn’t ok is that it can actually end up getting so bad that it can in essence completely disable or at minimum hinder the operation of the chain brake which is your main safety feature and that’s unacceptable a real safety concern because it essentially disables the brake from just the wet saw chips /dust buildup secondly is that both m18 Chain saws are very high draw tools and are harder on batteries than any other tool I’ve seen these saws like to dig in and digging in on it like that really shortens the runtime obviously but more importantly you’ll find that it overheats the pack like excessively with the 8.0 and solely the 8.0 (not nearly as bad on the HO 6.0 the 6forge or 12ah and a lot more than any of those but the 6s which were the best batteries for the tool until the new forge packs come out so that’d be my recommendation if ur worried about weight cuz it’s at least the same footprint as the 8 but the 6 has 21700 cells that are capable of supplying a higher discharge rate… the 8 was my favorite to use In the 2826 for balance but I have literally killed two of the Ho 8ah packs in the few months I’ve had the saw …..and a quick TH-cam search under “ Milwaukee chainsaw battery killer“ reveals that apparently I’m not the only one consistently overheating the packs in the chain saws but Milwaukee really needs to look into that chain brake issue. If you read the manual, you’ll see brake clean out and keep an eye on it next time ur doin some heavy cutting
I believe the Saw is oiling a little too heavy, basically attracting all the dust amplifying the buildup blocking the brake switch and that’s why I believe the chain brake is affected so quickly as compared to what you would think would be normal in a gas saw
This thing is great. First chainsaw i have ever used. It’s easy to use with one hand in a pinch but wouldn’t recommend. Everyone should be very careful using a chainsaw. Pops used it twice and already had to get a couple stitches on his finger. Glad he still has his hand.
I keep a cooler with ice in it to cool my batteries when cutting a lot in the summer. Hopefully Milwaukee makes a battery operated m18 packout cooler heater like makita does so I can keep my batteries warm in the winter and cool in the summer
That's a good idea! Ryobi now makes a battery powered cooler, so maybe that means that Milwaukee will too, since it's a trend in the industry. Hopefully it will be able to heat too.
Good video Mark. I just bought the original, non-top handle version. I haven't put it through the ringer yet but it sure does cut quickly and safely. Have you used that one? What are your thoughts on the differences? They are comparable in price. The only thing I've read is that the standard chainsaws are better for trees that are already on the ground.
I reviewed the M18 rear handle saw a few years back when it was first launched. I'm impressed by that, but probably like this one a little better for my needs. I have a mid size chainsaw that I'll be using to cut the big stuff and this top handle for the limbing and other things. If I only owned 1 saw then it might be a tough choice between the 2.
Be careful. Top handle saws are meant for arborists (i.e. tree climbing). They are more dangerous than rear handle saws because it is easier to hold in one hand, which makes it much easier to get hit by kickback.
Everyone is saying it's the handiest little saw with power, but doesn't last long on the small battery.i need a good little saw for carving big logs,I think the husk and new Stihl 220cb with thick chain is the day work horse of choice for sustained cutting with a spare,,,,but these are considerably cheaper batteries, charger's and saw
Mark you never run a new saw and chain at high speed waiting for oil. Leave the bar and chain off and run the saw at half speed while it primes up, second thing you do is get some oil into the bar groove.
I own the Echo PB 9010T backpack blower, and it's a beast way more powerful than any stihl. I've had zero issues starting or idling. I only use non ethanol fuel with Echo Red Armor oil mix.

Hey Larry, are you wanting an even mix of tool brands? I recently posted a Cat brand chainsaw, did you see that video? What other brands are you interested in seeing?
Hey Larry, I appreciate the honest feedback. I have a 2 Skil items and that will be on my channel soon and some Ryobi, CAT, and ECHO. I like DeWalt, but don't have anything to review with them at the moment.
Snapper makes a better one, and that's a fact! You want the 82v snapper, not this one, and I have this brand in my toolbox, so it's not about the brand Believe me, don't believe me, call me an ahole whatever. If you wanna cut shit around your suburban house, do what you want, but you'll sell it for a gas guaranteed
Interesting... the 82V sounds like a beast. I'll have to check it out. I'm a fan of gas saws as well. I will likely consider my top 3 saws to include 1 of them being battery. My first professional saw sounded like a 2 stroke racing dirt bike when I first tried it out. I had the Tim Taylor grunt, lol.
Do you like this top handle chainsaw or do you prefer the rear handle, or polesaw for your tree work?
I've run gas to handle saws for years. Love this battery saw from milwaukee. It's now my go to top handle
I just got this a week ago and I'm in love with it. Only have maybe 2 hours of cutting with it but wow its a monster with the 12A battery.
Yes it is! Lately, I've been making some short firewood pieces for my Solo stove and it's nice having this saw.

Yes, this thing is powerful and you have to be careful. Hope Pops recovers quick and has a safer experience next time.
He should use the full sized one with the two handles.

I used my m18 pole saw attachment to cut those crappie trees, works great even with an extension
It's amazing how fast those trees grow. The pole saw works good too! I actually made a video a couple years ago in that same spot, lol.

Do you have both residential and commercial lawn equipment
Yes
I wish I have one but I have all stihl product 2 chainsaw 2 backpack blowers and 2 string trimmers 91r and 111rx!!
Nice collection! I'm going to feature a Stihl backpack blower in one of my comparison videos.
@@MarkThomasBuilder what kind?
The BR800 and a Redmax EBZ8500.
@@MarkThomasBuilderCool! I like the BR 800c and br600!
Wonder how this compares to the Makita version of this, as I am in both platforms.
I have a video showing the Makita saw from last October at the Equip Expo. I'm not sure in a side by side comparison, but it would be interesting.

Can you test it with the regular ol 3 or 5 mah M18 battery? In case there's some crazy tool only sale or someone finds a used one down the line?
Sure, I could make a shorts video on that sometime soon.
I am sure it will gobble through a 5 fairly quick/. I wouldn't even consider a 3 for this.
You missed one important thing how much does it cost?
To much for a child's plastic toy lol
@Shane W if you can't afford a quality tool just say that...
@@haroldjones12 i think he can thats why he didnt buy it.
$350
Is this a commercial chainsaw mark
Yes
Mark you never run a new saw and chain at high speed waiting for oil. Leave the bar and chain off and run the saw at half speed while it primes up, second thing you do is get some oil into the bar groove.
Can you make a comparison video between the Stihl and echo backpack blower in the next video Mark
How about I add in Redmax too?

How much does it cost with battery and charger mark
$349 bare tool, $699 in the kit with the 2 high output batteries.
Hey Mark
Jeremy, how ya doing?

Yes, maybe tonight.

My new video just went live.

😁🙌
Broke the third time I used it.
Wow, hope it's fixed under the warranty.
It is a good saw, but not the same as a gas powered one. Great for quick jobs.
Here's a comparison I did on gas vs battery... th-cam.com/video/AXhyt5Xymgw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rKV-ROAttHX-jd5K
$699 + tx
Its way too heavy I went with an echo cs2511t
Ooh, now that would be a good comparison video...🙌
