    Great review. This saw looks very nice and i may have to consider this. I'm a professional gardener and I've had the Milwaukee quick lock system for 6 years. Replaced the quick lock power head once due to the shaft breaking after hundreds of hours of use and that's pretty much it. My m18 chainsaw doesn't really get used that much cause my Echo 400 gas saw is lighter and runs a lot longer. My m12 single handed hatchet saw is just an incredible sidekick to have and I've been using the hell out of it for about 4 years now. A little bit of a connection separation and I have to shove the battery in sometimes to make it work but ... hundreds of hours of operation on my m12 hatchet.

      I was talking with a Milwaukee product manager at the Equip Expo last October and he said this pole saw is much faster and smoother than the quik-lok versions. I highly recommend this pole saw. Their new M18 Telescoping Pole Pruner is awesome too. I reviewed that a few weeks ago.

    It's nice I think the chain speed was a little higher with the forge

      I agree! It was noticeable to me when I watched the video later.

    We use both cordless and 2 stroke saws at our property. Both serve their purposes well

    Hi iam looking at this pole saw or the echo gas pole saw, which one would you recommend as you have used both thanks

      That's a good question. I really like both pole saws. I don't have experience running the new ECHO battery powered pole saw, but I'd say for my needs, I'd go with battery powered.
      One reason I'd choose battery is from personal experience when I rented a 35' boom lift to trim branches and some decent sized limbs. It was nice having battery power, because I didn't have to pull start it every time I positioned the bucket around.

    Great video. I have the fixed version that came with the complete Quik Lok set which includes an extension pole and it has served me perfect in 3 plus years.

      This feels very similar as far as a nice smooth cut and power.

    With most tools the forge is a little faster, but bogs down more with resistance, i.e. cutting through knotted wood

      Thanks for the insight. I'll have to see if I notice that.

      It awesome. I've only watched someone run the new ECHO saw, but haven't run it myself. I'll be testing it this week at Equip.

      Where can I buy one?

  • @darbo6955
    @darbo6955 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Would you recommend this over the quick lock? The sag on the quick lock seems intolerable compared to the telescopic pole saw. Is the price justified for 20 acres of deadwood?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, 20 acres of deadwood is a lot to cut. The telescoping pole is much fast and smoother than the Quik-Lok. So my answer is yes, I'd recommend getting this one.

    Thanks Mark. What is the overall length tip to tip when fully extended? You had mentioned the other Milwaukee set up with the attachments which I’ve been using with the extra extension for the past few years. Before that I head a gas trimmer with a similar chainsaw trimming attachment for many years. Did the job, but always a hassle compared to the battery set up I have now. Thanks

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one is exactly 13' fully extended. It's also 9' when collapsed. This one seems lighter than the other gas one I own.

    Tell you the best attachment is the hedge trimmer! Come fall, if you got tall decorative maiden grass or peonies or boxwoods, it’s the cats meow! I cut can them all in one powerful cut before the wife can finish the first four peonies pickup.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this reminds me that I need to take out my peonies for the winter. The hedge trimmer accessory is amazing!

    Half the time the hand-held saw would have been the better option. Need a Greenworks upgrade here.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, in my demonstration, it didn't show all the benefits as well as I hoped. A few weeks ago, I was using a 35' boom lift to clear some dangerous hanging limbs that were pretty massive in size. I was glad to have the telescoping pole saw to keep me far away from limbs dropping to the ground.

    What battery runs the saw better? The M18 FORGE 6Ah or the M18 12Ah High Output?
