Underrated is an understatement! I only use the pen tool. Been using Adobe since 1999 and I have been making the switch since affinity1, but most recently I deleted adobe off my computer forever. It's hard to switch a tool you've been using for over 20 years. The only real challenge I had was just learning how the tool icons look, that is pretty much it. I'm a keyboard junkie so it makes it twice as difficult to relearn new shortcuts and icons. Affinity makes beautifully crafted code for svg files for the waterjet.
Right?! I love hearing from veteran designers praising Affinity! People really should give them a chance. It's such a great piece of software to work with. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for making affinity Photo more understandable. I have been really struggling with it, although I have used Photoshop for 20 years or so. However, I am done with Photoshop and need to learn this new photo program.
It has a learning curve for sure, but just like anything you'll work away and get it! Plenty of ex-photoshoppers coming over and I understand why. Thanks so much for watching!
Pen tool for selection/masking. Had no idea. It's my favorite tool, but apparently I need to dig deeper. Thanks for speaking slowly and clearly. Effective instruction.
Learning AP has been a bit of a challenge after using PS for many years. But, watching videos like this one has really helped me transition. I didn’t think I would like AP but the more I use it the better I like it. I have a one long term project 3/4 the way finished, I will then say my final goodbye to PS and use AP exclusively.
I’ve used Adobe products both professionally and personally for nearly 20 years and recently switched to Affinity. Your videos help me get the most out of it as I transition. So please keep them coming. Maybe it’s just better suited to how I want to work, but after less than a month I definitely prefer Affinity Photo.
Thank you so much Nigel. I have more experience with Affinity but also used Adobe for quite a few projects and I always seemed to prefer Affinity. 20 years is a long time with Adobe, you must be quite good!
First video of yours I've seen for quite a while, I haven't been using AP for various reasons. Great as always and good to see the subscribers going up as you deserve. Love that you name and shame the troll 😂 You mentioned me a long time ago (in a good way, not bad). I think you depicted me as a cowboy 😊 Glad you are still going strong and best of luck with the channel!
Very valuable information! I'm still not used to the software, with so many tools with not so obvious functions and effects. One-off videos like this help me find solutions more easily. Thank you very much for your time and effort!
This video was dope! You’ve definitely earned a subscriber, keep the videos coming. I just dumped adobe cold turkey after 5 years of my photography journey.
Hey, I don't personally have a video on this but you would create a macro once where you add a watermark as a layer and then apply that macro to your batchjob to mark all photos at once. I apologize as I don't have a direct video or screenshots to share!
Hey, highlight your mask in the layers panel and then pick the node tool (should be with the pen tool) and then adjust your mask. If you just want to move the thing you isolated just select it from the layers panel and move it around. Let me know if you mean something else, I would like to help!
😅 very 😎 im still trying to use this ad often. Your videos sre very helpful and i really like your humor 😅 about the mask, is ot easy to feather it? Ty
Affinity Photo sure has a learning curve, and not in a good way. But after over 20 years with Adobe’s Photoshop and its siblings, I’ve moved over to the Affinity suite and left Adobe. I even replaced Acrobat DC with PDF Expert. I hate change. But I hate getting ripped off, too. Adobe: But you get access to ALL our software! Me: But I only need a handful of your programs. I did the hack for ending my subscription early, and now I’m all in with Affinity.
Hey Theresa! I agree it certainly has a learning curve. I started with Affinity and then went into Adobe for awhile to learn some basics when dealing with other designers/companies. I found some things much easier with Adobe, and others not so much. That said I totally understand why you left, the product is great but they crossed too many lines. I think you'll really like Affinity once you get the hang of it, you've got all the skills... just need some directions on certain things. Thank you so much for watching!
Read the title and burst a vein laughing… then I realised, “Oh, he’s serious!” 😂 Edit: the pic? that’s the dude from your Adobe subscription video. Guess he REALLY wants illustrator, eh? 😂😂
The way that AP handles paths is terrible and was a deal breaker for me as I use them a lot. You can’t really save them! All you can do is stick them in the assets panel. Very poor and not a patch on Photoshop. Just add a Paths panel! This was a real indication of you get what you pay for

I love you can drag layer thumbnails and it creates a different functions vs dragging the layer it self. Brilliant!
Affinity knows whats up!

I love to hear it! AP certainly has a learning curve but it's really powerful once you get used to it. Thank you so much for watching!

Hello
Is there a way to add (on photo export) a logo watermark as in Lr?
Hey,
I don't personally have a video on this but you would create a macro once where you add a watermark as a layer and then apply that macro to your batchjob to mark all photos at once.
I apologize as I don't have a direct video or screenshots to share!
I didn't know about the text on a curve. that's very cool.
Yeah it's really useful sometimes! Thank you for watching!
Great stuff!
Thank you so much for watching, much appreciated!

How to move masked selection? 🤔
Hey,
highlight your mask in the layers panel and then pick the node tool (should be with the pen tool) and then adjust your mask.
If you just want to move the thing you isolated just select it from the layers panel and move it around.

I caught this comment quick! lol
😅 very 😎 im still trying to use this ad often. Your videos sre very helpful and i really like your humor 😅 about the mask, is ot easy to feather it? Ty
Thank you so much!
For feathering I would pick 'selection' instead of mask in this example and then go to 'select > feather'
hope that helps!

Sorry to hear! tons of professional designers use it everyday for logos and art with thousands of paths/curves.
Good thing Adobe is still around!
👍🤣
why thank you Paul! Appreciated!
COOL REVANGE....😂
😁 thank you!
Gaussian is pronounced Gauss-ian. Not Gaushin.
You saved the day. I guess.
