there's some mad dudes right around the corner from me (in the states) called K power industries and they've got a plug and play k24 swap kit for the BRZ, best part is when it's all in EVERYTHING STILL WORKS. It seems perfectly stock until you hear it or see under the bonnet.
I built an ls1 swapped subaru brz for a reasonable price, its totally worth it. It added about 40 lbs to the overall weight so didn't change the driving dynamic to much and had a conservative 350 to the wheels na. The head turning sound alone was worth it.
100% with ya on that. I wish it wasn't looked down on as much. As usual I expect them to add a turbo instead of a supercharger or v8, but an LS is what I would be most excited to see. As it is, they don't do american cars, they barely do european cars, they barely do rwd cars, and they almost always end up making whatever they have turbo. So this would be a cool change of pace. And while I'm sure it would be expensive, I think it'd be amazing to see one of these cars with a carbureted 240z engine, or the V6 outta the 370z : D
Impressively minimal weight gain. Who cares what people think/look down or up on, power to weight is what counts, especially usable power not just crazy boost barely driveable.

Cool story if u care, there's a TH-cam video out there comparing Johnny Herbert to Micheal Schumacher from 1994, johnny would late brake like crazy while Micheal eased the brake and took the corner way faster because the car wasn't so upset by the braking, good for 2 seconds a lap. Anyway, I'm sure a H6 turbo motor would kick ass in that BR86😜
I think a Honda k swap would suit the original intent of the car very well while giving it a much needed upgrade in sound, response, drama. You could probably run the original trans too which absolutely wouldn't be possible with many of the other suggestions here. Good chance to collab with Scotty from haltech (loves ks) and possibly turbo yoda (who also engineered a rly interesting w2a turbo kit for 86s which never got enough love). Oh and a k plus a turbo equals an absolute rocket.... Although the trans would also blow up haha
I dont know man. This is AUSTRALIA. 2jz is over done, LS is WAYYYYY overdone, k swaps are now becoming WAY over done. Do a freaking barra swap. do something that is different. please!
I will say I've recently done a heap of driver training and what Moog said is right It's no longer brake brake brake then on the power round the corner. It's no longer the way. Now it's slamm the brakes on around the start of the bend and accelerate through the apex.....it surprised me the first time my instructor showed me....it's very violent compared to smooth is fast like the old way of washing off speed. After the days I spent with my instructor and on the track I literally had a bruise across my stomach from the belt smashing me in the guts every corner. In saying that I bought down my lap times over the day by something like 8 secs. It really works but isn't super fun without harnesses.
To turn off traction control: press and hold the button with ‘car skidding OFF’ for 3 seconds. It should show two lights on the dash: ‘a car sliding OFF’ and ‘TRC OFF’. You’ll be able to do skids with this setting. If u want true 100% off then do pedal dance.
I'm doing the same thing with my Suby. I put it into the wall and insurance totalled it. I bought it back as salvage and will put it back on the road, but the state requires receipts to prove that parts were bought and not stolen. There is an inspection as well, but if everything looks right, I think it's less about safety and more about the chop shops.
That is interesting about late braking, i have an E55 AMG estate and it has been mentioned more than once that I can cover ground surprisingly quickly in it, It's pretty bad round the bends so I generally just use as much of the power as I can and then lean on the brakes really hard as late as possible to get round, scares passengers but its always awesome fun getting back on the power so i never bothered wondering if it was the right way to drive it, just did it for the giggles.
As long as you don’t over-brake and lose too much speed it’s the quickest way to drive. Formula 1 is probably the clearest example of how much quicker it is. I’d recommend looking at some of Daniel ricciardo’s best manoeuvres as his talent is late breaking.
@@StealthyyyHD statements like that are stupid. If you're not fast with 80HP then 800HP wont help you. And im pretty sure it would because my 86 is scrapu now.

My buddy in highschool ( yeah a 90s kid here) had an Eagle Talon but he really wanted the TRD even though they are the same ( like the BRZ and 86). I love to see the MCM boys tackle one of those. Good 💡💡💡😊
Time in corners is almost always found on exit rather than entrance. Late braking is useful for overtakes where lines are already compromised and track position is everything but for lap time you want to be concentrating on apex speed (a result of efficient lines) and getting back on the power as early as possible to maximise speed out of the corner. You obviously want to scrub speed off as quickly as possible when it comes time to slam on the jam so use the full extent of the braking force (a lot of people only use 60% of the pedal because it feels so violent) but once you start getting to the point where you are compromising your stability and turn in point at the end of braking you need to wind it back a few notches.

Isn't there a supercharger system out there for it now from Jackson Racing I believe? Work with something like that to get torque downlow if that's what kind of track days you'll be working with. It's really cool to see Moog in another BRZ-ed.
Currently writing a strongly worded letter to Mighty and Moog to replace my monitor after the guy tripping at 9:38 in the background made me spit my tea out over said monitor. XD
That Ultima hnngggg
I can't hear"look at us" and not instantly think of Paul Rudd on Hot Ones 🤣🤣
LS1 would be an awesome install and it still fits under the standard bonnet with no mods to it.
Nice, looking forward to the rx7 stuff. This was fun too, nice to see the car out and about
