So originally this footage was lost (Rons fault), this video was supposed to go out for Valetines day last week. Thankful it was recovered and we were able to put this video out, better late than never right? 😁

This is such a dying art form. I’m 50 now but when I was in the 7th-8th grade here in Mississippi I took a class in leather stamping & sewing to make belts, pouches, etc., and wood crafting including spinning candle sticks on a lathe. I absolutely loved that class. I wished it was still introduced at that young of an age just so students could learn that if they choose to not attend college there are so many trades that they can work in and make a really good living such as a specialty carpenter or contractor.

@@girlygirl2969 My dad taught agriculture for 32 years. I took him for my 4 high school years and it has always been my favorite class! I learned everything from horticulture to welding, business management, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, ag mechanics and rebuilding my own lawnmower motor. Tons of life skills in that class.

Dear Ron, I love this channel of yours because to me its the male side of the 1820's. And that is good Teachings. Both sides being taught. Men in those days worked very hard , so did the woman, but it was hard for the men to provide for their families! Thank you Lad for teaching real history. Ann

It kill’s me when people use live harmful traps. Our neighbor did that and I was so angry. He had a pile of dead coyotes in the creek bed on our property line

Ron, What wud the temperature be in the cabin furthest from the fireplace? Any guestamation? I don't see you or Justine shivering or commenting about it being cold/chilly.
I met an older retired gal from Indiana last Spring who had inherited her Grandfather's home. House was built in late 1700s. Passed down from one generation to the next.. She told me about the newspapers discovered stuffed into the walls for insulation as building was getting continually updated & modernized. (And secret cubbyholes for stashing $.)
The existing fireplace for a period of time, of course, was the only sorce of heat . She told me during that time period No Matter HOW much wood the fireplace was stoked with the temp in the house never rose above 57°. It was a 2story dwelling.
    MY STORY:
After 4mnths wo heat this year in IA in a 2 story 117yr old home w 5 space heaters going full bore 24/7 to prevent pipes from bursting and attempting to supply heat my rooms continuoulsy between 40-57 depending on wind chill and direction. Brrrr. Wore 5 layers to bed w 5 layers of bedding & still shivered while trying to sleep.
2 handymen who promised to show up blew me off w No call/ no show. One of them a retired HVAC guy. I am a poor, elderly, single temp worker.
    Long story short...
Last week I met a Christian couple at a Christian Cafe. This cafe will feed the poor for free or what you can afford. I went to get myself a birthday Omlete...
I mentioned to folks sitting at next table it was so nice to be in a heated building enjoying a hot plate of food and coffee. They asked if I was Homeless. Well not exactly.... They were all ears hearing about my furnace.
The husband INSISTED he come and look at my furnace. He had fixed his own furnace and felt competent to look at mine.
He came over tools in tow and was dumbfounded I was surviving within after 4 mnths of no heat w sub zero temps.
I told him I had turned my hardship into a Social Experiment- if low class populations previously existed w little to no heat ie: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Roccoco, Industrialist, Frontiers, Revolutionary War, George Washington's soldiers wo footwear, Civil War, Slavery, Transportation to America as punishment for crimes in England, Irish potato Famine, OUR HOMELESS in the USA, on and on, I could endure until warm weather arrived.
Told him I had German ancestors who traveled to Iowa via covered wagons to become farmers and succeeded thru grit and fortitude. My mom used the still in service outhouse as a little girl in the 1930's !
He was touched and astonished at my perspective.
After 3 monthly electric bills of $425 EACH besides shelling out money to two newspaper add affordable Handymen my Furnace Fix presented itself to this DIY Christian Cafe Guy.
We ingested many UTube videos and I finally said "what's that thing do?" I pointed.. He said 'I don't think that's it" I looked it up anyway. And guess what... it led to the fix!.
A red colored detached dangling Vacuum Line right up front hiding, as they say, IN PLAIN SIGHT! No oxygen was getting routed to ignite the burners!.
A THREE SECOND FIX! ( after 2 hrs of trouble shooting)
Problem was this fellow was sitting in a chair off to the R of the Motherboard doing his pondering.
.I was standing and had the broad view... hence my "Whats that thing do? question. The dangling tube was off to the far left of the motherboard. Location, location, location lol.
When I called the furnace manufacturer months before I was told my furnace was unrepairable due to being an old obsolete model ( 2001) and I would need a new one.
I had hoped for heat on this recent birthday, Feb 11. The Christian DIY guy fixed it on Feb 12th. Amen 🙏
And my new friend gave this 67 yr old lady 2👍👍's up for my contribution of observation !
Keep doing your videos. I love them!

Ron was the sound coyotes or wolves? I thought coyotes. Not sure. A question: Justine traveled to town but I didn't see a rifle. Since you live a distance, I assume, would a woman be armed at home and traveling for protection as well? I didn't expect the animals so wasn't sure where you were as opposed to Justine's travels. Thank you . Would be interesting to have a video of the times regarding safety.
