    I was having this problem with my 2017 Renegade at about 45,000/48,000 miles back around December 2020. Took it in to the dealership, but they couldn't find anything wrong so it didn't get fixed. Eventually, my brother replaced my spark plugs for me and it stopped for a while. I thought the issue was fixed, but it started happening again within this last month, physically jolting the car to the point I was scared to drive it. Thankfully this time the check engine light came on and the dealership was able to pull a code and find the issue. The ignition coil pack was bad. So far, the issue seems to be solved now, but I'm so paranoid about every slight sputter of the engine now. And I still get a little bit of similar slight sputtering when I first start my engine; so, hopefully that isn't anything to be concerned about. What irks me about the whole thing, though, is that the dealership likely should know or have an idea about these kinds of issues and how to check for them, and yet, they don't do anything unless a code is tripped. I'm pretty sure they thought I was imagining it until it finally tripped a code.
    Seems like you got right to the issue source in no time. I could've used you back in December. :)

      Hello! Thank you for the kind comment. I am glad to hear that so far the issue has been resolved. You are correct, when you say that the dealership should have checked the basics. Unfortunately, some or many technicians are afraid of being wrong. Therefore, they wait for the check engine light to come on so they can justify the repair.
      I hope that you do not have any more issues and can enjoy your vehicle. Keep me posted.

    2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk started misfiring and rough idle but not throwing a code. Ran Seafoam through fuel and no change. Repair shop charged me $125 diag fee to tell me it was most likely the fuel injector or spark plug but they didn't know but those repairs will cost $300-700 to fix. I had a friend look at spark plugs and all were fine. Another friend was going to start pulling the ignition coils and the first one he pulled had a tiny pin hole. Replaced that 1 coil and instantly running like normal. Fast forward 18mos and it is doing the same, rough idle, no code popping up. I bought 4 coils and a new set of spark plugs the parts and out of curiosity I asked the repair shop how much it would cost to replace all 4 coils if I provide the parts. They quoted me $800 to replace all 4. And that wasn't including replacing the spark plugs either. Ef that. My friend is going to replace all 4 coils and the spark plugs this time.

      Just so you know it is so easy to change the coils and the spark plugs and I would suggest to you if your anything mechanically inclined or have a buddy that likes to tinker you can change out all the spark plugs and the coils in less than 30 minutes, I do all my fixes on all my toys and vehicles and I am not a mechanic just use a lot of common since and watch you tube to help out. Don't let these mechanics and dealerships cheat you out of your hard earned money, some of them are very honest but most of them are thieves. I went to an a/c shop one time and told him just 5 minutes ago my cold air just stopped, he looked under the hood and told me it would be $700 to $1200 to fix it, I went home and looked under the hood just like he did in the same area and saw a wire hanging down, I plugged it in and had cold air till I traded it 5 years later and never a problem, that dirt bag mechanic could have had plugged it in and said it works now, just send me your business in the future and all your friends, instead he got nothing from me and eventually went out of business because he was lying and cheating everybody and it became known. Anyways most mechanical stuff on vehicles are all easy fixes, just have a little patience and not worry about getting dirty!

    That other oil cap is for pressure. The PVC valve need to be replaced not the valve cover. Wife had the same thing. As soon as I replaced the PVC no more oil on the top.

    Hey at time stamp 2:04 there is oil in that hole. Is that normal? I’m having a miss fire in cylinder 2 p0302 Swapped my spark plug to 3 and my coil back to 4 and the misfire is staying in 2. Only thing I can notice is oil on that spot at 2:04. What is that?

    • @gqautodiagnostics
      @gqautodiagnostics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Yes there was oil in the coil due to a bad valve cover gasket. Costumer didn't have the extra money to to fix it.
      In your case I would recommend to check compression on engine 2 and check the resistance of the injector 2 as well.
      Keep my posted.

      I bought the car 3 years ago used in pretty much every time I fill the tank up it does that the check engine light never comes on I filled the tank up today after I had a recall done on the oil consumption and it just starts hesitating and then it cuts off when I stop the car I could be waiting at the light and it will do that after I drive it a little while it won't do it anymore only right after I fill it up

    • @gqautodiagnostics
      @gqautodiagnostics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@goldenqueen6007 Thank you for the information. Without looking at the car it sounds like the problem could be due to a bad EVAP system or a bad evap solenoid.
      Even if you do not have an engine light on I would recommend to take the car to your local auto parts store an get the code read (to see if there is anything stored in the memory of the cars computer.
      I forgot to ask how many miles are in the car?

      Hello. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Jeep. How many miles are in the Jeep? Have you had compression checked yet? Check that the injector is good.
      Those would be the first steps that I would take before continuing replacing any other parts.

      @@arkrager6545 I mean shaking in terms of suspension or braking issues, I can’t tell because all new jeeps drive horribly to me and feel like they are swaying and shaking constantly… I just assume it’s the build quality and lack of handling… In terms of drivetrain shaking I do notice these 2.4 multi air engines are so horribly balanced, that they shake the car so much under idle and acceleration.
