Thank you for the positive comments sir. I'm not smart enough to make glitz, pretty presentations. My goal is to just put out good information for those interested.
I have the 901 it is an excellent rifle. Colt’s decision to use Pmags was a smart move. Readily available, reliable and inexpensive. A lot of other 308 “AR” type rifles use proprietary magazines that are unreliable (owned and known others who had them) and hard to find and usually costly. My 901 will eat any 308/7.62x51 ammo I feed it and is very accurate. Also a lot of other 308 AR rifles are very heavy. Excellent video as usual.
Is the CM762 handguard OEM or is it a Centurion? I realize it’s bigger due to the larger mass of 7.62 parts but it looks a lot like the M-Lok Centurion handguard that came with the LE6960’s and now the CR6960’s respectively.
@@thecoltar15resource Thank you Sir! So us guys with the legacy models can start shooting again? Ours was put away for a while due to fear of replacement parts.
What's the weight difference, if any? I had a 901 when they first came out, but it was a bit of a brick, so sold it. The SE dropped some weight, but never got around to getting one.
@@blackyzfr1 I do know a bit about them. I have been looking for a new/like new example that is in box and complete for my collection. I find them very interesting.
@@thecoltar15resource That's funny, my local shop has one (with out box ) that I keep coming back to for the past 6 months. I'm not sure why I find it so interesting but I,like you thought it might be a good add to my Colt collection too.
I have not had the handguard off yet to confirm. Looking at the exterior, the handguard on the CM762 looks like it secures the same as the CM556 thus indicating similar designs. I plan to confirm (and do a video) on this in the next two weeks or so.
Colt had released a CM65 back around 2018/2019. They were small in numbers and were not on the market long at all. There is definitely potential for an update CM65 to come back to the market but I have not heard any rumors yet.
Great question that I don't have an answer to. I have not seen another charging handle that looks like it commercially available. With that said, other AR-10 type charging handles may work. But, I do not know for sure.
@@thecoltar15resource I’m in a state where we have a waiting period to do final pickup but I was able to mess with it in the store. I found it to be very strange. I am hoping it is not the only one that works lol
@@thecoltar15resource something tells me they are most likely proprietary considering that the M5 comes with the Radian but this does not. The only reason I imagine they did that is because it is not an AR10 style charging handle but will need to confirm. I do have one laying around and can test it this weekend
Fantastic video! Great presentation with no fluff or filler. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your insight sir.
One random thing I noticed: almost all the CM556 uppers I’ve seen have the keyhole forge marking, while this CM762 has the square one.
Certainly possible. You have me curious now. 🤣
@@thecoltar15resourceI own a LE901 16S, a 6940, and 6940P; all 2013 and square forging marks
All Great Looking Rifles I Am a Fan of The Monolithic Upper Colts 😀😊❤️😇
The 6940-series and 901-series are probably my favorite Colt design. I do think the CM556/CM762 design is more capable and flexible though.

The CM762 rail is OEM.

Can you do a full review and lesson on the ar6720 le lightweight carbine please
That is one of my planned projects. I have a 2019 production AR6720 in my collection.
@@thecoltar15resource or the Colts Law Enforcement Carbine marked 6920s
@travisbennett4091 unfortunately I do not own a "Law Enforcement Only" marked carbine.
Is the bolt interchangeable between the 16, 16s and the new cm 762?
@dougdawson3146 yes sir...the same bolt is used by all three models.
@@thecoltar15resource Thank you Sir! So us guys with the legacy models can start shooting again? Ours was put away for a while due to fear of replacement parts.
@dougdawson3146 There still isn't a source for parts, unfortunately. I'm hoping to see that change in the next 6 months or so.

The CM762 is significantly lighter than the LE901-16S. I will weigh them in the next day or two and let you know the difference.
Can you swap the uppers around? Put a 5.56 upper on with a conversion kit like the 901s? Or is the mag well preventing that?
Yes, the 901-series conversion kit works on the CM762.
Great comparison. Thanks, picking up my CM762 tomorrow. What do you know about the old 6900?
The LE6900 Light Carbine?
@@thecoltar15resource Yes, I think Anderson made for Colt but I have trouble finding history on this one. I thought you might have some insight.

@blackyzfr1 I have been very intrigued by it...partially because of the controversial background of it.
Is the barrel nut and handguard attachment design the same as the M5, 5.56?

Colt did make a CM6.5.
Are Colt 7.62 barrels 1 /10 twist and are they made of same steel as Colts 5.6 barrels ?
I am researching that and should have an answer in my next video on the details of the CM762.
I have verified that the barrels are 1/10. Still researching barrel material.
Gas piston?
No sir. DI.
