These Colts are not “straight pull” rifles and therefore would not be allowed for civilian ownership…in the UK at least. UK citizens are not allowed except through special licensing to own semi auto rifles. These rifles would have to have the gas tube removed and the carrier key modified.

This is probably a longshot, but I'm working on a 3D model of one of these as a game asset. Can't seem to find one at any shops near myself to measure a few spots. Any chance you would be able to give me the length of the receiver from the rear of the handguard to the end of the receiver, and the width across the back of the receiver? Reference images are hard to come by for some of these things.

CZ currently own Colt and are doing a great job. Personally I would like the handguard a half inch shorter in length and I don't like the buttstock because the battery compartment covers can be easily lost, also the batteries change the balance of the gun when inside the buttstock and after removal. Also the charging handle needs some sort of cover over the internals to stop the ingress of mud and contamination. Batteries in the pistol grip with a trapdoor type of cover is a better way to store batteries than in the buttstock for a few valid reasons as I have mentioned. Colt went away with from the monolithic upper mainly because of the LMT patent on AR monolithic uppers hence the new handguard design which is excellent. I like Colt rifles and this particular version has some nice well thought out features for a 7.62×51mm Assault rifle. The Marines mainly went with the M27 IAR because of it's OTB capability while using a bit of a backdoor to get what they wanted. Also a small redesign of the HK416 and 417 rifles could be on the horizon courtesy of me, with a new type of ejection port dust cover and an ambi charging handle included in the redesign plus an MLOK handguard. I think Colt should also build a 5.56 version of this rifle as it only has a few small rectifiable flaws. It is also easy to machine the end of the bolt carrier for anti-tilt operation and make the guns full auto for law enforcement and military use. 😎🇦🇺👍

901 is the biggest peice of junk. There is nothing to keep fire pin retainer pin from falling out! No parts available for them. HiPoint makes a better rifle for a fraction of the price.

I've installed a couple of these Brownell's Colt branded scopes on my older Colt ARs. They seem to hold zero, are very clear, have a sharp reticle and the bullet drop compensator seems spot on. I recommend highly.

It's .223 and their sticking to that story. Why? because some countries don't allow possession of military ammo (5.56) and to list it otherwise would exclude them from the market there. My guns have .223 Wylde barrels and will shoot both .223 and 5.56 just like my Ruger Mini-14 in .223 shoots 5.56 as stated in the Ruger Manual.

Sucks to not have a 2nd Amendment.

CIP does not differentiate between 223 & 5.56 like SAAMI does. Both are considered 223 in Europe. You can shoot both safety in a 223 CIP rifle.

Those rifles are way too pretty to be legitimate colts. Every brand new colt I own was banged up as heck out of the box lol.

Great Info. I just got my rifle here in the Philippines from an authorized local distributor. I have the same markings. The only difference is that it has a cz/colt triangle logo beisde the serial number on the upper receiver. I got kind of relieved when I saw this video. I thought the local distributor put the serial numbers for compliance. I couldn't find any info about the markings. There is also a serial number on the bolt itself. On the Box, the model number is CR6921-E. It is a 14.5 inch barrel, flash hider is not pinned and welded. Not sure if it is an export or european model. Box label shows 223 but CZ put their own label on top of it. The barrel has a cage code and is marked 5.56. It also came with a CZ Bren magazine instead of a pmag. I am lucky enough to have a cage coded upper receiver and also has a square forge marking. Hope you can shed more info on this model.

The anodizing looks really nice. Does Colt have a separate assembly line for their European models?

Thanks for sharing! I was one of those skeptical about the 223 chambering but was proved to be true on arfcom. many guns are being labeled as 223 but are in fact 5.56. I wonder what market these are intended for… in Italy 5.56 Colt and other mfg are still being imported regularly. The all serialized parts are indeed a newer requirement.

I got one of those lowers back in 2018 from Brownells. I then paired it with a colt upper I bought a few years later.

on the scope base that mounts into the carry handle on the left side is a small phillips flat head screw that protrudes into the sight channel when using the iron sights. What is the purpose of this screw and can it be removed so a clean sight picture can be achieved while utilizing the iron's.

Colt is such a disgrace to the American craftsmanship of firearms design and appealing to the commercial sector. Their CEOs should have been fired decades ago. While I own and love some Colt guns, this gun is a pitiful example of the direction of Colt’s attention to detail. Just look at the unrefined shaping on backstrap above the pistol grip (mold seam). Casting that was not smoothed down. Today’s Colts remind me of Arisaka “Last Ditch” rifle. Nothing against Colt aficionados, I know the prancing pony (or name) still attracts buyers, but come on! Maybe this is why all DOD contracts go to HK, Sig and FN and Colt is now sub-contracted. So disappointing. I would actually love to add a M5 or M7 to my collection, but not with the lack of refinement exhibited in their current models.

At the price of this rifle, most people including me would go for something like Daniel Defense of Geissele. Colt's quality is not what is used to be and they don't even manufacture their own rifle parts anymore. I won't even consider today's Colt rifles Colt anymore. I have the 6920 EPR though and I love it.
